Better than stock The seat is nice well made but don't expect a drastic comfort change just a slightly better seat. I couldn't go more than 45 minutes on stock seat. With this seat I can go maybe an hour and 1/2. Better but like I said its still a stuff seat and not a magic bullet I don't regret my purchase but you can find better go for it. April 14, 2014
Very comfortable and better seating position than stock The stock seat would cause me to have to re-adjust all the time because I would slide forward into the tank and was not comfortable after an hour. This seat doesn't do that because it dips down in the middle and is flat so it spreads the weight much better. The seat makes it much easier to swivel around or to learn off. It fits perfectly and hugs the tank better than the stock seat. March 10, 2014
Good product, EXCELLENT service The Sargent rider seat installs easily; the rear seat cover only required a bit of tugging and aligning before hitting it with a staple gun. The rider seat is more comfortable than the stock seat, just be sure to sit all the way back to take advantage of the non-sloped, wider pan. Fit and finish is pretty well done. My order was processed unbelievably fast: I placed the order and it seemed like it was processed immediately. Since the seat shipped from their Las Vegas warehouse, my order reached me in CA within a couple of days (it might have been sooner). This was my first purchase from Revzilla, but it will definitely not be my last. Service bumped the overall rating to Excellent. Great job! February 11, 2014
Nice seat I bought the seat for my SV and then left the next day for a three day trip. It's just a hair taller than the OEM low seat I had before. It is definitely more comfortable. While it does have a sort of scooped rear section, it still allows sliding around and hanging off with no interference. And it came with nice self adhesive foam blocks to properly secure the battery like the stock seat. September 30, 2013
Noticeably more comfort for the butt cheeks! Comfort improvement from the stock seat. Keep in mind the kit includes the rear seat cover. Easy installation with a little manipulation. Worthy purchase for consistent riders. September 9, 2013
As advertised much more comfort for much longer. No more hot spots and now the sv650 doesn't smash my junk into the tank on decel As advertised. Great product ,easy install. My sv650 would be uncomfortable after about an hour and unbearable after and hour and a half. I don't know how long I can go on the sergeant because I just haven't hit its limit yet. Looks good fit perfect. October 1, 2012
Would buy again Last year I took my SV650 (n) on a 1,300 mile round trip and found out first hand what folks were saying about the stock seat being uncomfortable. My experience with the stock seat is that it's comfortable for about 20 minutes, at which point shifting your weight buys you another 10 minutes or so of comfort. Around 40 minutes to an hour though, there's no comfortable position left and even stopping to walk around is only a temporary help. Comparing that to the Sargent seat, I find that I can ride for about 40 minutes before I start noticing my rear end falling asleep. Shifting my weight fixes this for another 40 minutes, and as soon as I stop to walk around there's no lingering discomfort. After reading the reviews I built my expectations up to thinking this seat would allow me to ride all day in comfort. I'm slightly let down by the fact that this isn't quite true (especially considering the price tag) but I do believe it's the best option out there for the SV. Installation was a piece of cake, and the finish is very nice. I can't speak to durability too much (had the seat for ~2 months) but I believe it will last based on the apparent quality. Great seat. This seat will lower you almost an inch, but in doing so it really prevents you from getting your crotch smooshed against the tank with every bump in the road. The foam in it does conform and is quite comfortable. A must have for any stock seat riding SV650 owner. September 10, 2012

RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?
K U: Stock seat is awful. Ride comfort has increased. I can comfortably ride 3-4 hours now instead of 45 min. May 11, 2014

A shopper asked: Sargent's site lists the welt being available in black or metallic. The photo here seems to show white welting, with no options given. What colors do you guys have available for the welting? Apr 28, 2013

Eric H asked: Will this aftermarket seat raise or lower the overall seat height compared to the stock seat? Feb 10, 2015

Ashley H: I bought this seat for my 2007 SV650N, I did not notice a notable difference in height, if anything a touch shorter.

The seat certainly improved the comfort of the bike, I also use an airhawk pillion seat cover with the Sargent seat when going long distances. Biggest difference is Sargent takes the body weight from leaning forward into the tank (stock seat) to a more comfortable upright position. HIGHLY recommend! I used to be quite sore after half hour on the bike, with Sargent can now go several hours without airhawk, and all day with.

This may change between female (myself) and male riding seated style.

Michael T: Eric, that's a tough question. Most will say it lowers the seat height. A few say it raises it. Why the discrepancy? I don't know. What I did was actually measure the height with the stock seat (at the middle of the saddle) to the ground, then installed the Sargent and remeasured...I got an extra 1/2" (higher) than the stock. That being said, I really didn't notice any difference in how my feet planted on the ground. This is probably because of the shape of the seat and the shape of my body (I'm average ht. and modestly athletic build). Your mileage may vary.

But it is a great seat and you will love it.

Alden P: There is no noticeable change to the seat height. What you will immediately notice is that the pan, the butt area, is wider with a higher edge. If the bike feels tall for you already, than it may feel like you have less space to stand at a stop. However, the larger seat area makes all the difference on long rides—think seat vs. saddle; your groin will thank you. I bought this seat for a cross-country motorcycle trip and I was able to do 13,000+ miles in 77 days, with some days of 8 hours of riding or more. Feb 10, 2015

Bryan T: It lowers the overall seat height, but not significantly. I am 6'1" and the reduction in seat height is minimal and not too noticeable. Especially considering the added comfort the new seat provides. Feb 10, 2015

Bernard M: This will not raise nor lower the overall seat height. The main difference is increased comfort by the shape of the seat. Feb 10, 2015

JIMMY R asked: As stated this will fit Suzuki SV650/1000 04-09, my question is do you also mean SV1000S which is the faired model? Jan 9, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Reed S: I bought this seat for my 2005 SV1000S, it fit perfectly and was a big improvement in comfort over the stock seat. The passenger seat remains stock, only the rider's seat is replaced by Sargent. A cover for the passenger seat was included in the box from Sargent but I did not use it. Jan 10, 2014

Nicholas H: It should not matter whether the bike is faired or not. The tail section / seat mounts will be identical. Jan 10, 2014

A shopper asked: I was looking at the seat and in the description it describes "Seats" and im wanting to know if I purchase this if it will come with the back seat too. Dec 10, 2012

Ashley H: Your purchase does NOT come with the pillion seat. This is the rider's seat, not passenger's. It does come with a pillion seat cover (so they match in appearance). Feb 10, 2015

Ashley H: For the Sv650 that is. may be different for bikes which connect the two seats (ducati monster, i.e.) Feb 10, 2015
