Sargent  World Sport Adventure Touring Seat Kawasaki KLR650

Continuing in the tradition of meticulously designed seating options, Sargent is pleased to offer the Sargent World Sport Adventure Touring Seat.

Utilizing advanced digital modeling, computer design techniques, precise manufacturing processes and superior materials, each World Sport Adventure Touring seat pan is precision-molded for superior fit and outfitted with high-quality hardware. Also featuring Sargent’s signature vacuum-formed PVC acrylic alloy seat pan, this super tough, lightweight material provides an exceptional high-performance seat foundation.

Gel-Free! Each Sargent World Performance seat offers superior comfort and suspension without the thermal retention and extra weight of gel. The Super Cell Atomic Foam suspension is a unique and proprietary blend of resilience, firmness, and vibration-absorption qualities. Most stock seats suffer from a crowned shape that centralizes pressure and creates discomfort. The level, wider and slightly cupped foam shape of the Sargent World Sport Seat distributes pressure evenly and eliminates hot spots for incredible long-distance comfort.

All Adventure Touring Seat features marine-grade, UV-stabilized, color-coordinated upholstery - hand sewn specifically to maximize the qualities of the Super Cell Atomic Foam.

Features:

  • Widened PVC seat pan for more lateral support
  • CarbonFX vinyl
  • Super Cell Atomic Foam for improved riding comfort
  • Eliminates forward slope and provides a more neutral seating angle for the driver

Much more comfortable than stock, my feet can now touch the ground
The summary pretty much says it all. I could barely touch the ground with my toes on the stock seat. The low seat dropped me down about 2". As a new rider, made me more comfortable.

I had to stop for a break every hour or so, to give my backside a rest with the stock seat. I can now easily go for a few hours. Much more comfortable.

I've had it for a little over a year and 5500 miles, still looks like the day it came out of the box.

One of my best upgrades.
For me, the stock KLR seat (2009) was a constant pain in the ...., quite literally. After installing this seat, I did an afternoons riding around, and it wasn't until we were almost back to the house that I realized I had not even given a thought to my backside.

I'm 6'2" with a 34" inseam and went with the stock height seat.

As to durability, I've only put about 300 miles on it, but see no reason to this point to suspect any durability issues going forward.

Easily one of two upgrades I've made to my KLR that I would consider my best upgrades for rider comfort, the other being my windscreen.

Bang for the buck, I've seen this item for slightly less money.

Only other comment is that I've purchased several other items from Revzilla, and this is the only item ordered that took longer than 2 days. I believe I ordered it on a Friday, and recieved it the following Friday. Not a big deal, but it was different.

This seat has made life on the bike a lot more enjoyable, which is what it should be!

Essential upgrade
I got the low seat and I immediately felt at home in the saddle. Definitely recommend this seat over the stock seat. It makes a huge difference on comfort for long or short trips.

More comfortable than stock
This seat is significantly more comfortable than the stock seat and was very easy to install. The fabric appears to be durable but feels very light. I sometimes scrape my boot against the fabric getting off the bike and I am scared of it ripping every time. There is a break-in period.

Ride comparison:

- I am in pain after riding for 45 minutes on the stock seat
- I am in pain after 3 hours on this Sargent seat

Very good product overall.
Good quality. Very stylish. However, a little bit disappointed by the front attachment : it is plastic...when the stock was metal. It does not fit well and requires adjustments to avoid wobbling .
In addition the so called better comfort over the stock seat still needs to be proven. Not sure yet. I might need to try it on a significantly longer ride to be convinced...or not.

Great seat, bad fit on '12 KLR650
I love Sargent seats. I've had them on my last 4 bikes, and they are a great alternative to stock.

While they are normally a perfect fit (as it was on my last bike, a BMW F650gs), this Sargent low profile seat has a very poor fit on a 2012 KLR650.

Out of the box, there is no way it would have fit at all. The bottom front connector (The u shaped part that slides into the tank mount) was too big to fit, and had to be sanded down considerably for it to be able to actually fit in.
The other fit issue I have, is that there is a rather large gap between the gas tank and the front portion of the seat. Not only is it aesthetically annoying, but also causes a little bit of motion in the front portion of the seat at times.

Both of these things are really not deal-breakers, as the seat is really, *really* far better than the stock seat - just with some minor mods for fit on the KLR. My other bikes have been a perfect fit, so not really a big deal!

Way more comfortable than the stock KLR650 seat, low model.
I've only got about 400+ miles on it so far, but its a heck of a lot better than the stock KLR650 seat it replaced. Did a 264 mile ride and my "butt" wasn't complaining where 150 miles on the stock seat was excruciating! Installation was a bit of a struggle, it took a lot of prying and coaxing to get it on. Its a firm foam, but softens a bit in the sun. Besides the install challenges, the fit and finish look great.
Overall, its a great seat for the price, but would be even better with some kind of breathable material on the seat rather than all vinyl.

This seat is a vast improvement over the stock seat.
I have only been out a couple of times but I can say for sure it is superior to the stock seat. The comfort level was realized during the first time out. Installation was a little more difficult than the stock seat but the comfort level helps justify that. Finish is a little slippery but not too bad. The sliding on the seat could have been attributed to the type of pants worn during the first rides. This may help when trying to clean after a dirty ride. Overall, I can say I am happy with the seat and would definitely recommend it over the stock version.

Good Seat
I bought this because I could not stand my stock KLR seat for more than 50 miles. I had to get off. The Sargent is shaped much different, and is a bit softer. The KLR seat is narrow and convex. The Sargent is 50% wider and slightly concave. Much better for longer rides. I cannot speak to durability, as I have only had the seat for 3 weeks. It is pricy, but much more rideable than stock.

Great replacement to my KLR stock seat.
I bought this seat a year ago and it has held up well. I am off roading a lot and its holding up. I have started to notice some freying on the seems though. Another issue that I did not like was the wedge clip that goes against the gas tank is plastic and not metal. My stock seat had a metal clip. A year later and it seems to be ok. As for comfort? It is hands down better than the stock seat on the KLR 650. Instead of lasting a 45 minutes, I can pull 4 hours now.

The most comfortable seat I have had. I have one on my DR650 and I have had one on a previous KLR. Always top notch quality and all day comfort.

This is my 4th Sargent motorcycle seat. I have had excellent results with installing Sargent seats on my bikes. A tad lower that stock, stylish and WAY more comfortable.

Read nothing but good reviews from many KLR 650 riders in several forums. I was looking for a lower seat then stock because I am only 5'8" and also a seat that was going to be more comfortable then stock

Hoping to find a better long distance seat. Particularly for two up riding of 400-600 mile days on a KLR650.

I chose this seat because of the reviews I read and the stock seat is not suitable for extended rides.
Robert M on Jan 13, 2014
Mistakenly thought it would be a huge upgrade from my wearing-out stock seat because of how great my Sargent seat for another motorcycle is. For me, wrong assumption. I much prefer the stock KLR seat.
Peter S on Nov 11, 2013
The Sargent and Corbin replacement seats for the KLR650 both get good reviews for comfort and appear to maintain the adventure bike look and functionality. At $314 (Sargent) versus $417 (Corbin), I went with the least expensive. The Russell seat is really beautiful and appears to be very comfortable, but I can't picture using it in the back country where we often ride.

I have a 2009 KLR 650, I am trying to decide on either the Sargent standard or low seat.
At 5'7'' and aprox 31" inseam I find the stock seat is tall.
Kawasaki lists the stock seat height at 35". What are the seat heights of the Sargent standard and low ?
I would like a slightly lower seat, but don't want to trade off any comfort.
A shopper on May 3, 2015
BEST ANSWER: My wife and I are both 5'5", not sure of our inseams but my legs are shorter than hers and neither of us are long legged. We have the Sargent low seat, I believe it is rated at 33" versus 35" stock. It is wider and firmer than stock so the ground reach is only slightly better than stock. Although firm it is fairly comfortable. She likes the seat, I think it is okay but only got it at her request. We also have a BMW GSA so riding tall bikes is normal for us. My advantage over my wife is since I weigh more I compress the suspension more once I am on.
I hve just bought a 2000 KLR 650C, will this seat fir this bike?
A shopper on Jul 12, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I hAve this seat on my 07 so I know it will. Great improvement
I actually only need to know how much more it lowers my reach to the ground when sitting at a light. Some lower seats are wider, and don't really help you reach the ground better. I am inseam challenged, and cannot "flat-foot" on the stock seat. I also find the stock seat uncomfortable. I don't mind the height, except when on gravel, because my tip-toes don't have enough of a "footprint" for traction, and I'm always slipping whenever I am stopped on gravel.

I have to ride on gravel roads everyday, as well as stop. Will this seat improve my leg's reach to the ground? I'm thinking two inches should do it, but I don't want to lose any suspension travel by lowering the bike.
A shopper on Jul 8, 2012
BEST ANSWER: I was looking for the same information then I came across the following review.

http://www.ridermagazine.com/gear/sargent-world-sport-performance-motorcycle-seat-for-kawasaki-klr650.htm

Based on the information within the review, the low profile seat will drop you down 2 inches.

Hope this helps.
Hello! I have a couple of questions.
1) Does this seat fit a 2014 KLR?
2) Which seat is more comfortable for long rides, the low or the standard?

Regards.

BEST ANSWER: Good day I bought this seat because the standar seat it is really uncomfortable, I have SARGENT WORLD SPORT ADVENTURE TOURING SEAT "STANDARD" and works excelent. Its fit perfect as the OEM seat. Is very confortable for long rides. I have 2000 miles with it and no complains. Also is very confortable for the passanger. From 1 to 10 I will rate it with 9.
Is this seat comfortable for a passenger as well? In regards to enough room and such
