great seat. stock seat was to high for me and only bought this to lower the seat height. after installing it and taking it out for a few rides breaking the seat in this seat has proven to be well worth the money spent. comfort is very nice compared to the stock seat i could ride 30 miles and my butt would hurt! this seat though i can ride a lot longer with out having to stop to take a walk! all in all i would have to say this was the best upgrade i have done to my KLR650 November 23, 2015
Whole new ride. I was hesitant on buying a new seat because everyone's fit is different. Even after only 350mi, it's like having a new bike again. The ride is better and so much more comfortable. Wish I would of done it sooner. August 7, 2015
Another Satisfied Sargent Seat Customer! This is my fourth, or so, Sargent Seat and they still put out a quality product! I put this one on my '14 KLR 650 and what a difference! No more squiggling and squirming after a few miles. I am 6'1" and got the standard height one and it actually allows me to plant my feet a little firmer at the stop. Others complained about how difficult it was to install, mine just popped right in place (helps if you know there are two connection points at the fuel tank). I also have a Sargent Seat on my BMW R12RT and it performs the same way...excellent! June 8, 2015
Well worth the price! This makes the KLR much more enjoyable for long rides. Replaced my 2008 KLR650 saddle with 25,000 miles. I'm 6ft, 185lbs - new saddle is far more comfortable. June 1, 2015
Good Seat I bought this because I could not stand my stock KLR seat for more than 50 miles. I had to get off. The Sargent is shaped much different, and is a bit softer. The KLR seat is narrow and convex. The Sargent is 50% wider and slightly concave. Much better for longer rides. I cannot speak to durability, as I have only had the seat for 3 weeks. It is pricy, but much more rideable than stock. May 4, 2015
Could be better This seat is better than the stock seat but not not by much. I do not find it any more comfortable than the stock seat and there is this ridge or bump right where I like to sit. I can't figure out where on the seat they intended the driver to sit because it is too narrow up front and the wide pan is too far back. I also had a hard time getting the seat on, it does not "line up" well. The material it is made of is slippery when wearing my mesh pants. I've never had a seat before do that. The only reason I'm still using it is because the seat is about 1/2 inch lower which gives me more confidence when stopped. I am hoping the seat will break in and conform more to my butt and sitting position. April 27, 2015
Great quality product A bit too firm but hopin it will break in with time other then that a most excellant seat. Fits better then the factory. April 20, 2015
Great replacement to my KLR stock seat. I bought this seat a year ago and it has held up well. I am off roading a lot and its holding up. I have started to notice some freying on the seems though. Another issue that I did not like was the wedge clip that goes against the gas tank is plastic and not metal. My stock seat had a metal clip. A year later and it seems to be ok. As for comfort? It is hands down better than the stock seat on the KLR 650. Instead of lasting a 45 minutes, I can pull 4 hours now. March 28, 2015

Robert M: I chose this seat because of the reviews I read and the stock seat is not suitable for extended rides. Jan 13, 2014
Peter S: Mistakenly thought it would be a huge upgrade from my wearing-out stock seat because of how great my Sargent seat for another motorcycle is. For me, wrong assumption. I much prefer the stock KLR seat. Nov 11, 2013
Kent D: The Sargent and Corbin replacement seats for the KLR650 both get good reviews for comfort and appear to maintain the adventure bike look and functionality. At $314 (Sargent) versus $417 (Corbin), I went with the least expensive. The Russell seat is really beautiful and appears to be very comfortable, but I can't picture using it in the back country where we often ride. Oct 7, 2013
A shopper asked: I have a 2009 KLR 650, I am trying to decide on either the Sargent standard or low seat.
At 5'7'' and aprox 31" inseam I find the stock seat is tall.
Kawasaki lists the stock seat height at 35". What are the seat heights of the Sargent standard and low ?
I would like a slightly lower seat, but don't want to trade off any comfort.

Bill L: My wife and I are both 5'5", not sure of our inseams but my legs are shorter than hers and neither of us are long legged. We have the Sargent low seat, I believe it is rated at 33" versus 35" stock. It is wider and firmer than stock so the ground reach is only slightly better than stock. Although firm it is fairly comfortable. She likes the seat, I think it is okay but only got it at her request. We also have a BMW GSA so riding tall bikes is normal for us. My advantage over my wife is since I weigh more I compress the suspension more once I am on. May 5, 2015

Jean-Pierre F: Actually this seat was for my wife. We took the lowered since she's 5'2'', but at 5'7'' you should be ok with the regular one. Besides, I'm 5'8'' 32'' inseam, 145 lbs. and I run the stock one just fine. Just a little tip, make sure your rear suspension is not set to 5. If so, set back to 1, the bike will sag enough for you to be very comfortable height wise and on the road. May 8, 2015

aaron g: Sargent lists the sizes on their website.
I have an 09 with the low. Much more comfortable. With one foot down and bike barely leaned I am flat footed. I am 5-9'

A shopper asked: I hve just bought a 2000 KLR 650C, will this seat fir this bike? Jul 12, 2015

David E: I have the 2012 KLR 650 and it fit with no problems. Based on the description it should fit your unit.
It does take a little squeezing to get the front lock in but once its on it is good.
My only complaint was that the lock was plastic and stock seat was metal. I have been riding it hard out in Arizona and it has not been a problem. I have gone from riding 30 minutes to an hour and half with out my but going to sleep. It really helps.

Bill L: I have a 2014 with this seat but I am not sure about the fitment difference between the 2000 and 2014 since most changes were made in 2008. I believe it will fit but if you contact Sargent they can probably tell you for sure. Jul 13, 2015

A shopper asked: I actually only need to know how much more it lowers my reach to the ground when sitting at a light. Some lower seats are wider, and don't really help you reach the ground better. I am inseam challenged, and cannot "flat-foot" on the stock seat. I also find the stock seat uncomfortable. I don't mind the height, except when on gravel, because my tip-toes don't have enough of a "footprint" for traction, and I'm always slipping whenever I am stopped on gravel.

I have to ride on gravel roads everyday, as well as stop. Will this seat improve my leg's reach to the ground? I'm thinking two inches should do it, but I don't want to lose any suspension travel by lowering the bike.

syaoran: I was looking for the same information then I came across the following review.

Based on the information within the review, the low profile seat will drop you down 2 inches.

Hope this helps.

RevZilla: The low seat is approximately 1 inch lower than stock. The true benefit is that the front of the saddle is tapered and more narrow so that your legs are not forced apart as much while stopped with your feet on the ground. Jul 13, 2012

OKREDNECK: I have 30" legs, on my KLR650 I can back it up in the gravel. I live out in (BFE) Oklahoma, so I'm on gravel 90% of the time. Jan 21, 2013

Jorge L: Good day I bought this seat because the standar seat it is really uncomfortable, I have SARGENT WORLD SPORT ADVENTURE TOURING SEAT "STANDARD" and works excelent. Its fit perfect as the OEM seat. Is very confortable for long rides. I have 2000 miles with it and no complains. Also is very confortable for the passanger. From 1 to 10 I will rate it with 9.
