Great seat from a great manufacturer.
Even during the test ride I knew that if I bought the '12 R1200GSA I was riding, the stock seat had to go. I left the dealership with the bike that day and immediately started researching which seat to buy. With a shortish inseam, I wanted a low version. It is important to know that just because a manufacturer makes a great standard seat, the low version they produce might miss the mark for most people. Other manufacturers will make a seat and then never back there product in the event of an issue. Having switched over from HD to BMW I had never really looked over Sargent but everything I read about their product were mostly positive. What I did find was a distinct lack of complaints about the company, only that some people weren't totally satisfied with the seat. Well you can't please everyone all of the time, but a company that gets such good compliments is hard to find so I took the leap. When I first opened the box, I was impressed by the fit and finish of the seat and the nice extras, like the stowage bin under the passenger pillion. The seat did take a bit of maneuvering to install the first time but once you do it a couple times it becomes second nature. I immediately noticed how much better the shape was than the stock seat. Firm but not overly so and the shape allows the rider to put their feet down without feeling like their femurs are being spread from their pelvic sockets! I experimented with the different heights, and yes, if you adjust the low version up to high setting (equal to a normal seat) you'll have a 3/4" gap at the tank. It isn't bad looking that way and just noticeable IMO. With the shape of the tank and frame, it is impossible to have an adjustable seat and not have a gap. Comfort-wise that seat hits its stride after about 500 miles. Your butt will need to do some acclimating as well, so ride ride long and ride often and you come to love the seat as I do. I have one criticism though: the seat is a bit more slick than I prefer. Sargent offers an upgraded version with a new, less slippery material I will probably spring for and have the seat recovered in a few couple years.
Keep the rubber side down, my friends.

Great improvement from Stock
I dont understand the reviews that I have read here. If you read ADV rider you will see that this is a highly rated improvement from stock and I agree fully. I can ride twice as long with out without getting twitchy in the saddle. This seat is about two inches wider in the support areas and much firmer than the spongy stock saddle that wants to crawl up the bung!

Awesome Seat!
I found a 2013 Adventure in Boston, however, stock seat height for my 31" inseam wasn't happening. The good folks at RevZilla shipped me this Sargent lightening quick (as always), and away I went up to Boston to swap out seats, and ride it back to Maryland...8+ hours later, I felt like I could have ridden another 8 hours. Immediately comfortable, fit like a glove, and no issues whatsoever. I cannot say enough about this seat, not to mention it dropped the seat height from the stock 35", to a comfortable 32"-ish height. Only gave durability a "Good", as I've only had the seat on the bike for a few weeks, however, highly recommended!

Excellent product and excellent service
Both fit and finish were excellent. Install was as smooth as the stock seat on my BMW GS1200 Adventure. I needed a lower seat because of my 30" inseam and this seat did the job but also exceeded my expectations. Revzilla is also a fantastic company to do business with.

So much better then the stock seat
Much better then the stock seat. I have a big #%& and it is just what I needed. However, not sure if the weld seam is going to bother me. So far I feel it but my rides have all been ~1+ hours. The weld seam looks better but I think I will in time wish I went for the custom flush seam I am 6'1" 250 lb, 2011 R1200GS Adventure

Outstanding. Very comfortable
Received product on a Tuesday. Went on a 2100 mile, 7 day journey the following week. Couldn't have been more pleased. One day we spent 12 hours and 500 miles in the saddle. All secondary roads. Highly recommended.

Seat is way better than stock
I tried to use the stock seat for two years. It is awful to ride a bike with an uncomfotable seat. I decieded to try the sargent seat . I'm still breaking it in and it is firm but comfortable. It's a great improvement.

Great Seat
This is soooooo much better than the stock seat! It's harder, but shaped right and provides so much more feel and control on the bike. I haven't had a long distance trip yet, just a couple 60 mile trips. But, even then, so much more comfortable than stock. So, yeah... this seat rocks.

BIG comfort improvement
I purchased just the front low version for now to put some miles on it to see if it would help. My wife & I road a thousand miles over memorial day weekend, It was not perfect but a great improvement. My inseam is 32" & with my GSA already being tall as I wanted kept me from trying just an air hawk by itself, although I may try one for the long rides now because I think an air hawk would be ok as to seat height with the low version sargent and my 58 year old skinny rear needs all the help it can get. Fit was good & looks ok with the stock rear to me. I gave a 4 for durability because I haven't had it long, but looks to be made well.......steve

Great seat over the stock BMW seat
I bought this for my 2009 BMW R1200GS Adventure. Fits perfectly even though the application is not listed. It is a huge improvement over the stock seat but seems to be a little lower in sitting position.
I've only been able to ride about 200 miles using it but so far really like it.

The OEM seat is going on five years old. Sargent has a good reputation for making decent seats, I'm confident this will be an improvement.

My 09 r1200gs, that I just purchased, had LOW STOCK SEAT, which I cant tolerate. The research shows Sargent was the way to go for a replacement seat and Revzilla gave me the information and choices I needed. And, at a great price.

Is the low seat harder or does it have less padding than the regular height seat?
A shopper on Jul 11, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I purchased the regular height seat but from the research I did prior to the purchase the padding is the same the difference is in the seat pan and the attachment points. Hopefully this helps.
Sargent lets you try it for 30 days then you can return it for a full refund if you don't like it. Do you guys do this also?
Ted V on May 15, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I was able to return mine after a few days (was too low for me, otherwise very comfy). I kept the packaging and returned it in new condition just like I received it. There was a small fee for shipping that was deducted from my revzilla bucks. Gotta love revzillas customer service.
Will this seat fit a 2014 GS Adventure?
Richard O on Apr 13, 2014
BEST ANSWER: According to their website Sargent hasn't released a seat designed for the 2014 GS (still in development). Looking at pictures they posted of the new seat, the front portion that wraps around the gas tank is shaped differently therefore I would have say this seat probably will not fit a 2014 GS.
Can I buy just the passenger seat?
Jason S on Oct 20, 2013
BEST ANSWER: If you already bought the riders seat of course is a good upgrade. If not I think is a good idea start with the front seat. Is an A+ upgrade.
2013 R1200GSA High seat choice, will there be a gap between the seat in the high position and the gas tank?
A shopper on Apr 9, 2013
BEST ANSWER: My sources tell me that there will be a 3/4" gap when the seat is in the high position.
Will the Sargent Low seat sit any higher than the stock BMW R1200GS Low Seat option?
A shopper on Mar 29, 2013
BEST ANSWER: The Sargent low seat is going to be just about equivalent to the BMW low seat option according to Sargent.
