Harry A:The 24" is the outside measurement before expansion. Only one end expands, and that is about an additional 1.5". The pouch on the other end is detachable and has backpack straps for carrying stuff around. I have never removed mine. This is the second one on these bags I have had over the past 10 years. I take a 2-3 week cross country trip every year and I can fit all the clothing and personal effects I need in this bag. Very quick to attach and remove from bike. Very satisfied with it.Feb 1, 2014
paul m:Hi all, The bag is 24 inches before expansion, and is 26" after expansion, I have found this bag to bea great addition to my fatboy for those 3 or 4 day getaways, hope this will help you cheersFeb 2, 2014
RevZilla:The Saddlemen TR3300DE Deluxe Rack Bag should hold its shape fairly well since it is a fully rigid construction. Of course this will depend on what you are loading into it, and we would suggest packing the sides with light weight items (such as clothes) and using the middle of the bag for heavier items. If loaded in this manner, the heavy items will have the support of the seat under them, and thus will help prevent the bag from deforming.May 14, 2012
