The Saddlemen Gel-Channel Sport Seat is designed specifically for sport riders that need a seat that can do everything—canyon carving, track days, or commuting. Features Saddlemen’s Gel Channel (GC) technology (patent pending) that incorporates a split piece of SaddleGel and a channel in the base foam to relieve seating pressure on the perineal area, increase blood flow, and keep the rider in the saddle longer. Saddlemen sport bike seats offer high quality, light weight construction and styling that’s second-to-none.
Black-on-black, easy-to-clean SaddleSuede material covers the entire top portion of the seat with a matching strip in center of the Gel Channel (GC)
A matching black suede covers the center strip and places the Gel Channel technology front-and-center as a major styling point
More comfortable than any stock seat on the market, but there’s no question it’s a custom, hand built seat designed to match the characteristics of your specific motorcycle
Driver’s seat height mimics the original seat, but with a wider rear saddle section for comfort plus a specially shaped nose that helps the rider’s feet touch the ground better at stops
In most cases the pitch of the seat’s foam is revised to eliminate the rider from being forced into the fuel tank while riding
Slightly bucketed in the rear section to contour to the rider’s body for better control during aggressive riding
Each SPORT seat is supplied with a pillion cover you can install on your bike’s passenger seat that matches your new front seat
Easy to install, bolts to your bike just like the stock seat
Even easier to keep clean, water wipes away from center GEL channel: dries in minutes
Custom colors and other modifications available, just contact Saddlemen

I've only ridden a couple hundred miles on this seat but further break-in should tell the tale. I'm going to be riding nearly 4,000 miles in 3 weeks on my 2009 R1 so if this seat sucks, you will all know it!
Initial impression of the seat is positive. It's heavier than the stock seat but the fit and finish is pretty good. While the seat doesn't fit quite as perfect as the OEM seat, I'll call it an 8.5 - 9/10. No one will notice unless you point it out.
Installation is easy as it uses the stock mounting points but the forward mount points are only slightly different. The stock seat uses a single slot in the middle, while this seat has two metal brackets that slide under a portion of the battery cage. The ONLY issue is the seat is very stiff and the R1 requires pulling the rear portion of the seat back to expose the bolts to remove it. I'm frequently tinkering with electronics which require removal of the seat so this has added a bit of frustration but I imagine it will get better once the seat is broke in a little.
Initial impressions are very noticeable. You can clearly tell the seat distributes weight to the sides of the seat instead of the middle. After a 300 mile ride, I was ready for more action after just resting for a couple hours. It took a lot of the fatigue out of the ride.
The matching rear cover is a nice touch. They suggest getting it stitched onto the rear seat or replacing the whole cover if you want to. This isn't a bolt-on per say, so you'll need access to a upholstery level staple gun.
Overall I'm pretty happy. The price for these seats is a little steep but I think my rear end will be thankful I spent the money.
