If you want the Best Protection go Rukka
This is no light weight flimsy piece of equipment. This last summer I was T-boned buy a guy driving a 72 Chevy truck. I was wearing an Arai full face helmet and My Rukka jacket. I know the armor in my jacket saved me broken bones. I came away with broken ribs but the huge armor Rukka uses took most of the impact when I hit the street. The force tore my elbow and shoulder skin but the bones didnt break. We all are going to go down someday when that happens you will wish you had great armor on! Ride safe!

Much more flexible than my old CE armor
I replaced the CE approved elbow armor in my Olympia Motorsports jackets with these. They should breathe better (although it's still too cold to test that) in warmer weather and is definitely less rigid. I've also replaced my back pad with this armor and have shoulder pads on order.

Beefy D3O Armor for Winter Riding
I bought this armor to try it out in my Rukka Armas jacket. I specifically liked that, unlike other D3O armor, this molecular armor maintains it's protection even on colder days. And since the Armas is more of a winter jacket, that was a real concern for me.

The Rukka D3O Air is much bigger than the stock armor for my jacket. I was a bit surprised by how much beefier it is. It does appear that you end up trading away better air flow for the sake of better protection when compared to the stock armor in the Armas. But since it's more of a winter jacket anyway, I don't have an issue with the trade off.

My only gripe is that, for the cost of the Armas, I think this armor should have come stock for both the jacket and pants.

thick, conforming, disappears in jacket. I made a mesh pouch and sewed these into a leather jacket and its like they are not there.

Fits knee pad pocket of the Firstgear HT Air Overpants
Even though Rukka markets this as an elbow pad, it also snuggly fits into the knee pad pocket of the Firstgear HT Air Overpants. The Rukka knee/shin D3O air protectors are very much too large for the Firstgear HT Air Overpants, so get these instead.

Used them as Knee Pads in my KL?M pants.
I went and measured the pouches that hold the knee protection of my KL?M Latitude pants as they we're just around the suggested size of these pads. Well needless to say they fit perfectly! The D30 armor that are already in the pants are really good but these are even better as they cover more surface area over my knees and are actually even thicker. I plan on purchasing another pair of these and putting them in the elbows of my 2014 Badlands Pro KL?M jacket as they fit those pouches in there perfectly as I tested them also.

nice replacement
these were to replace original rukka pads on my Merlin leather jacket. I must say these are more comfortable because they are softer and more pliable. They maybe a tad thicker but not a hinderance to arm movement or comfort. Thus satisfied with purchase.

Major upgrade to any jacket.
I have an eight year old Rukka Airpower suit, and switched the original black rubbery armor out for the D30 armor. The armor is WAYYY better than anything else I have seen, and should be useful on a variety of other brands.

Upgrading the marginal armor in my Olympia mesh suit; better armor and has some holes in it so it breathes a bit better in hot weather. I wear this suit EVERY day commuting (don't really care that I don't look "cool" on the bike wearing it) and, while I hope I don't ever need to know how well this works crazy SoCal cager drivers notwithstanding, one should take as much care as possible. ATGATT.

d3o - cool tech. I like my bike gear to not look like bike gear - i.e. no massive shaped pads that restrict movement and make me look like I'm going into battle

Because the size of these pads work in both my KLIM latitude pants for the knees along with elbow pads for my Badlands Pro jacket. They fit me perfectly!

Put these in an old Rukka Armax jacket to replace the wimpy waffle pads.

Much, much more protection! Does make the jacket heavier however.

Can you tell me the dimensions of this piece?
A shopper on Dec 14, 2013
BEST ANSWER: 10 1/4" long, as it lies on its own, having a premolded curve deepest in the elbow. Held flat to a tabletop, it is 10 5/8" long.

5 3/4" wide at its widest, lying as on its own, 6 3/4" wide when flattened out.

2" high, lying as it will, given the premolded shape, and 3/4" high when flattened. That is to say, the material is 3/4" thick at its thickest.

In addition to the premolded shape that wraps around your elbow and lower back of your arm, it is very pliable, hence comfortable to wear.

Even so, it compresses only minimally, making its protection value instantly apparent.
Is this CE Level 3?
A shopper on Apr 14, 2014
BEST ANSWER: There is no such thing as level 3. The CE presently only rates armor to level 1 or level 2. The level 3 thing is a marketing ploy by one of the gear manufacturers. All D30 armor is tested and approved to level 1 and I believe select products have now been tested to level 2. You had to do research. It's important to know too that neither the CE nor any other entity monitors the market to ensure that products claiming CE approval are in fact CE approved. Buyer beware - it is all on you to know what you are buying and if it actually meets the standards. Do some research. It is your safety after all.
