Roland Sands Hesher II Jacket (Size MD Only) 3.4 5 7 7
Not well made, low quality fittings Unfortunately, I should have listened to one reviewer who pointed to the poor quality of the fasteners on this jacket. They are hit and miss at best -- a couple on the jacket that I received don't even fasten at all. Yes the jacket fit is small (arms are too tight for anyone with an ounce of muscle structure). And no, it's not that I have a fat belly making the fasteners pop. They just don't fasten, period. If you want a jacket that gives you confidence in the knowledge that it will stay on and protect you in a fall, then this is not the one. What makes it even more annoying is that I bought RS armor at the same time. Now I have a back protector fitted in a jacket made to fly open in the slightest breeze. The people that designed and QC'd this product can't be bike riders -- at best, it's a badly made fashion item, not a bike jacket. Roland Sands? Don't spend the money, it's not worth it. Buy a proper bike jacket instead. March 24, 2015
This is a cheap jacket made from cheap parts I owned it for less than year and in that time all the leather zipper tabs tore off, and after about 10 months the bottom of the zipper broke off rendering the jacket useless. The jacket's fit is also made for a very short person. I'm 6'0 and it fits me like a crop top and the armpits pinch. the color fades almost immediately without washing. Some of the stitching came loose around the wrists as well. I would not recommend this product to anyone. These guys are good at making bike parts and thats it. February 17, 2015
Great Textile Jacket, Runs Small When I bought this jacket there were very few reviews but what was written was spot on. The canvas is sturdy, it runs small, the sleeves are tight, the snaps could be higher quality, and you have to buy the armor separately. As a 5'10" 150lb student, my goal was to find a jacket that met my form/function requirments for a reasonable price. The Hesher II does it spot on. The canvas is heavy enough to provide plenty of abrasion protection (found out the hard way) but you will need the armor for any impact resistance. After adding the armor, the medium would not fit at all. The snaps kept popping and the jacket would open up. Exchanged for a large, thanks revzilla. Large fits great, armor and all. Other points to consider - even with a size up, the snaps come undone fairly easily. This could be an issue in a crash but has not been a problem for me yet... an added zipper would resolve this. Sleeves are tight even for a small guy, very muscular people might think to look elsewhere or get another size up. The snap closure provides plenty of spaces for wind to pass through, making the jacket plenty cool in the summer. Add layers in fall to keep warm. Plenty of pockets and clips in the jacket to keep stuff. Style wise this jacket is great, I got the sand colored one. It's just slightly darker than in the video. My only gripe here is the red lining. It looks ridiculous and will bleed onto your shirt in rain or heavy perspiration. A lighter color would have been better here. Overall, great jacket and highly recommend. January 21, 2015
Looks good, built tough, fits small. I'm 6' 1" and about 165 lbs, give or take a few. It's been tough to find a decently priced jacket that is protective, fits well, is under $200 (chuckle) and doesn't make me look like an astronaut. Typically, I wear Medium t-shirts and Large hoodies etc, but found that with most motorcycle jackets are American (or less diplomatically, fat) cut and fit pretty big so I bought this in a Medium. The Medium was WAY too tight. I returned it for a Large and I have to say...it feels pretty good. As a lanky guy, I would like some more sleeve length and even some sleeve girth though. This jacket costed more than I wanted to spend AND I decided to buy the RS branded armor in addition, which put me well over my budget, but after trying to find a jacket that didn't have a balloon body shape...I settled here. If I could change anything about this jacket, I would button the collar down (no brainer), give a little more slack in the sleeve joint and widen the sleeves just a bit. Even my skinny biceps are squeezed in this jacket...ESPECIALLY with the armor. By the way, the armor is a PITA to install in the sleeves. Bottom line, Roland Sands stuff is not cheap. This jacket is well made, looks great, and is slimmer than most non-motoX style jackets. I'm content with my purchase. August 1, 2014
Great Textile Jacket I had been shopping for a new jacket for close to a year before I landed on the Hesher II. I wanted a jacket that could work both on and off the bike, armor ready, and not leather (already have one). The Hesher II hit all of my criteria. The other reviews on the Hesher II as well as other RSD jackets are spot on. The quality, fit and finish are incredible. The zips, snaps and interior pockets are functional and also feel substantial. I've ridden over 500 miles in this jacket and am extremely pleased with my purchase. This jacket is an extremely heavy duck canvas so it won't protect as well as leather. Air flow is adequate but I knew the jacket wasn't vented so I can't complain. Just undo the snaps on the sleeves and let the breeze run up your arms. In cooler weather it requires a vest underneath as the front snaps do let air into the jacket. I haven't experienced an extremely hot day in the jacket yet but I imagine its fine so long as the bike is moving. Braap! Previous reviews are accurate that one should buy a size up. I'm 5'11" 165 and a Large fits perfectly, even with armor, with or without a vest underneath. P.S. This was my first Revzilla purchase. I'm sold on their way of doing business. Great experience start to finish. June 23, 2014
Fits a bit tight Disclosure: I have the original Hesher instead of the Hesher II, though for the purpose of this review there shouldn't be any differences. Let me just say that I love, love, love the style of this jacket. I find myself wearing it whether I'm going to ride or not. There's not a lot I can say on the style of this item that you can't see from the pics. There are a few key points everyone should be aware of: 1. This jacket runs a bit small. I'm 5'9 and about 170 pounds. My size L jacket fits me perfectly if I'm standing still with my arms by my side. The minute I raise my arms it becomes apparent that the fit is a bit tight (you should see the crazy little dance I do to put it on) and I should have gone with XL. The pockets are also hard to use (they are small and the tight fit makes them hard to get to). 2. As another reviewer said, the snaps on the front tend to come open. This is most likely due to the tight fit but a better quality snap would prevent this. The middle snaps are the only ones this happens to (you'll suddenly feel a cool gush of air around your sternum while riding). 3. The jacket material is very stiff. I've had mine for just over a year now and it doesn't seem to have broken in much at all. I even throw it in the clothes dryer for an hour every so often hoping the constant tumbling would loosen it up a bit. No such luck. So the first two items can likely be avoided by simply going up a size or two. The stiffness, well, that doesn't seem like something that will change. Having said all that, even though mine is a size too small it is still my favorite jacket. The style is just awesome whether you are on or off the bike. December 30, 2013
Excellent overall but.. I was very impressed with the durability and overall quality of this jacket. Although alternative leather jackets are available for the same money the style and quality of this jacket is excellent. The canvas give a feeling of comfort and safety and is for those who want to make an individual style statement. Just one note. Go a size a larger than snug. The press studs tend to come open while riding if the jacket is a neat fit. This can become quite frustrating. August 12, 2013
