My first Jacket. So far love it.
I bought this at my local Honda Dealer while looking at CBR600RR's. I have been looking for a good entry level jacket to use for awhile when I saw this. For me, it just stuck right out. I love the vintage look with the strips. This jacket offers no protection such as pads, but I bought it before I was really thinking of getting the CBR. Not to big a deal as I can always get independent armor if need be. That is why I gave it 4 stars.

I do like the removal liner for those colder days. It buttons near the end of the sleeve as well as inside along the waist line so it is secure.

Overall, I love this jacket.

Don't miss out
I wasn't looking for a new motorcycle jacket buy my daily fall/spring street wear jacket was 10 years old and wearing out so for once, I was looking at style over function but wanted something I could hop on the bike with if need be.

This jacket is made from first rate material (good sturdy leather, great zippers, etc) and the inner liner keeps you warm and toasty. It's early in the Ohio season so I've ridden down to 42 with the liner and I feel comfortable without the liner at 50 with the air vents zipped up although the jacket tends to balloon up on the highway that way.

It got up to 68 degrees one day and I opened the vents and took it for a 60 mile ride and it was just great. The venting lets in the air in just the right places and I would think the jacket good to ride up to mid-high 60's without issue.

I wish the jacket had places to stuff armor in but that is my only complaint. For people who want a bad-a** looking jacket that will keep them more warm and protected than a cotton shirt, I highly recommend this jacket!

Great Jacket
This is an all around great jacket especially when its cold outside throw on a thermal and this jacket and you don't even feel the cold (on your upper body that is). Its a very sturdy build and VERY heavy duty, no joke this thing is HEAVY. But when you wear it you dont really notice the weight at all. Great jacket with great style.

Excellent jacket crafted with grade A materials!
The quality on this jacket for the price is utterly amazing. The leather is quite dense and feels like it would last a lifetime. All of the stitching is done extremely well and I must say really says something for River Road, good job guys! The sleek look of the jacket speaks for itself and the video and pictures don't do this jacket the justice it deserves, it's absolutely gorgeous! Now on to the fit. I stupidly didn't watch the video prior and ordered a 52, measured my chest to be around a 51 with a deep inhale. Anyhow, when the jacket arrived, I was swimming in it. Thanks to Revzilla's top notch customer service, I was able to get it exchanged for a 48. Keep in mind, this jacket fits very liberally so If you're in between sizes, go with the smaller size. While this jacket may lack CE rated armor, for the price and all you get, it's really hard to beat. If you're looking for a fashionable and reliable, sturdy made leather jacket, this is the one! I'd buy another one of these jackets in an instant, this jacket rocks!

If it had armour, id wear it to a gun fight.
Very durable, bought for its hardcore beat up look. I stuff it in my saddle bag and throw it in a corner when not in use. Has given it a wrinkled aged look beyond what it came with.
It keeps out water even in hard rain conditions.
Only complaint, the inner lining does at times stick out from the wrist cuffs, causing a slight fraying over time. Great for a vintage look but not a plus in my book. The fraying gets caught on Velcro gloves.

My main concern was fitment
I saw the jacket, and i knew i wanted it. Yeah its not a protective textile jacket with armor, but it would be way better than the leather jacket I was using (tears and holes everywhere). I liked the look, I could live with less than perfect protection, so my only concern was fitment issues. The video says these jackets run large, so you should buy a size down from what you normally wear. At least in my case, I don't think that was true. I am 6', 165 lbs. I usually wear a 40 R in jacket size, which fits good in the chest, but short in the arms when they are raised. My sleeve measurement, from the back of my neck is 33 1/4'', my chest measurement is 40'', my waist measurement is 32''. I bought the size 42 jacket so the sleeves wouldn't be too short in the riding position. I am happy with that choice. The jacket fits me well with the liner in (snug), but, like you might expect, it fits loose with the liner out (in the chest and waist). But I am okay with that. The sleeves extend slightly past my wrists a little over an inch when my arms are at my side, but they sit exactly at the wrist when in a cruiser riding position. Overall I am very happy with the look and feel of it.

Three years after purchasing this jacket
I bought this jacket three years ago and never submitted a review. Feel compelled to do so today because I experienced the same zipper malfunction/issue others mention in their reviews. I'm guessing mine lasted this long because I rarely wore it (had maybe 2 dozen rides wearing the jacket) as I usually wear a much lighter jacket. In a nutshell, the front zipper completely broke while riding a few days back and it will no longer properly close. Completely useless. I'm outside of the 2 year warranty and S.O.L at this point.

I will say that from a fit and airflow standpoint, the jacket was great and exceeded expectation. That's the only reason I gave it two stars versus one star. The leather was ok and as some other reviewers pointed out.. the boxxy look of the shoulder cut either works for you or it doesn't. It worked for me and I had no issue with it.

Buyer beware - if you do purchase this jacket pay close attention to the front zipper.

Does this jacket have pockets for inserting CE armor in the elbows and shoulders?
A shopper on Feb 15, 2012
BEST ANSWER: Nope but I'm thinking of sewing something into the liner. Kevlar would be nice too but nadda. The leather is nice and thick but will still burn out after 100 feet or so like all other leather. Great jacket otherwise...
I commute all year and live in Denver.. Is this going to keep me warm in the winter? I ride a shadow with a windshield and lower leg deflectors. Also have heated pants and gloves.. Thanks! I usually ride if there is no ice or snow and it is above 10*F
A S on Nov 23, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I've ridden in 35*f weather on a gs850g with no windshild no gloves and blue jeans. it was cool but manageable. If I had gauntlet style gloves it would have been warmer. It's a very well made and heavy jacket. I hope this helps. Happy ridding.
I am 5"4 so a 34in sleeve would be draging on the ground, Hmm it sucks to be a short !!
Do river road do custom fit maybe ?
Could the sleeves be hemd ? ( by leather expert )
A shopper on Jan 6, 2012
BEST ANSWER: You might be able to get a custom fit but I don't see why an expert leather worker wouldn't be able to hem the length of the sleeves. Just bear in mind, if you do this, River Road and Revzilla will most likely not honor a return on the item if you needed one.

Thanks!
Hi-

I am trying to buy this jacket for my fiance. He is 6'2- approximately 175 pounds. I measure his chest size and he is approximately 40 inches. He's extremely tall and lengthy. I'm not sure how to measure his arms for the sleeve measurement. Can you please help?

Thank you.
A shopper on Nov 12, 2013
BEST ANSWER: If you go off the chest size alone, the jacket will be too small. I'm a 6', 205lb athletic build and I wear a 46. I have rather long arms and the sleeve measurements are perfect on my frame. I would suggest you go with at least a 46, it may be big in the chest, but the sleeves wont ride up his arms when he's on the bike.
I am wondering if I can get help with sizing for the river road Hoodlum leather mototcycle jacket?
