River Road Baron Mesh Jacket 4.6 5 70 70
Great jacket for warm and cool weather. I gave the jacket 4* but wish I could give it 4.5*. The quality and fit are really nice. Great air flow. The zip in additional lining is great for those early morning or late evening rides with temps down into the 50's. My only issues with the jacket is the length of the jacket. The front of the jacket barely comes down to the top of my pants. I wish it went down below the button, or at least enough to cover the belt loops. In the rear it goes down further to give good coverage when in a forward riding position. Overall I would recommend this jacket. Good value for the price point. October 19, 2015
Great jacket for starting and seasoned riders alike Great jacket for multiple seasons. The mesh allows good airflow while still feeling sturdy enough to keep me safe. The inner liner works great to keep you warm on the cooler days, although towards the end of the season it's a good idea to wear layers underneath. Overall, very happy with my purchase, definitely worth the money! October 19, 2015
PERFECT EVERYDAY RIDE JACKET! As a really picky guy who does not want to spend too much money on a jacket, I went ahead and got this jacket based on its style and price. I received the jacket, came with a nice hanger, and it looked great. The jacket has a layer inside that makes it fall/winter jacket and if you take out the layer, it becomes a mesh jacket with tons of air flow, but still very protective. Jacket itself is fairly comfortable and fits very well. As in terms of durability, both of the buttons on my inner seam of the arms fell off right away when I was taking off the layer, but the protection is there. There are padding over shoulders, elbows and back and the jacket has tons of pockets to store in both inner and outer layers. Good points on reflective stripes on arms too. Highly recommended to anyone! September 17, 2015
Overall awesome value The only beef was that I had to ditch the liner to get a proper fit. Without the liner, fit great! With the liner, way too small. Had I gotten the next size up It would have been too big without liner and ok with liner for fit. Still way worth the money for a liner less summer only jacket!!! September 7, 2015
Great bargain I ride a cruiser with shoulder height bars and the jacket works great, my arms are comfortable and the shoulder / elbow armor are not restrictive at all. I went with the size based on the video and it was spot on. I'm 6' 185 and went with a MD per the video and it fits well. It was a little snug with the liner zipped in but again not too bad. Airflow was great, first day I rode it was high 80's and the jacket kept me cool the entire time. I would definitely recommend the jacket for anyone looking for something not too flashy and under $200. September 4, 2015
excellent air flow and features Excellent summer jacket. Great airflow. Love the interior pockets on the jacket without the liner. Fortunately, haven't had to test the protection yet but it fells like good armor protection if I were to go down. July 6, 2015
Good value Jacket is well made and looks good. Now that temps are 90 plus, I could use more airflow. Overall I am pleased. June 10, 2015
Perfect! My leather Tourmaster has been too hot for summer riding so I figured it was time to upgrade to a mesh. My top choices came down to the Tourmaster Air Intake and this, unfortunately I chose Tourmaster first bc the brand loyalty. It ended up fitting oddly and the sleeves were too large and same with the midriff. I returned and got the Baron and boy am I glad that I did! I am 6'0", 185lbs, slightly broad shoulders/big arms, midsize waist. The large fit me perfect (ps idk how the guy in the review fits in a medium being 6'0", 195lbs), my recommendation would be to get the size you normally get for any jacket/hoody. The jacket itself is very stylish and almost looks like a leather at first glance. Fit is a bit snug but I like that. Very minimal branding which is nice. I took it out today for the first time in the morning when it was 50F, with the liner it was perfect warmness. When I left work it was above 70F and with the liner out it was perfect with the airflow I was getting. Removing the liner is easy and with it out the fit is perfect, with the liner in a bit snug but i like it. My only minor gripes are that the collar is a bit tight if your neck is even slightly bigger than avg, and the sleeves could be about a half inch-an inch longer. Again, these are minor things. Overall I am extremely happy with the purchase and I highly recommend it!!! June 7, 2015

A shopper asked: How tight (or open) is the mesh on this jacket? Not asking so much about airflow but appearance -- with some mesh jackets, the mesh is so open that you can tell what color shirt you're wearing under it (with no liner in, of course) and I'm not particularly crazy about that look.

A s: Hello, happy to answer your question........even with the liner out, there is a lining behind the mesh. I think you would be very pleased with this jacket.....it is very well made and the fabric is very substantial. I have been wearing mine for a year and a half. If you have any other questions I would be happy to answer. Oct 4, 2014

Matthew L: You cannot see what color shirt you are wearing underneath. The inner lining (not the thick one you can take out) is perforated like gym shorts are and is not Mesh..so there is still room for airflow but its not see through. Oct 4, 2014

Kyle B: It's a wide mesh but it has like a silky backer and channels. You won't beable to see anything you have on under it. Even with out the winter liner in. Love this jacket. Oct 5, 2014

Timothy A: Yes, the shirt color is going to show through. Not super tight mesh. Good jacket though. Oct 7, 2014

A shopper asked: What size is the back armor? I would want to upgrade it so which pads would fit? Mar 14, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (1) No (0)
Leigh G: 13" wide by 15" tall. You may not want to upgrade it because it is just lite mesh on the back. There wont be alot of hold back there. I feel the padding that they give you is good enough.

Good luck, great summer jacket.

Eric S: Honestly, I don't wear my back pad. I feel it is a bit in the way with my flexibility of my shoulders. I also do not know if the pad in my jacket would be the same as the pad in a larger or smaller jacket. Sorry I could not help. Mar 17, 2014

Mario J asked: Hey there, i would like to know which size is the right for me... im between S or M

im 5'11, 156lbs, 40in chest and 29waist

i dont want it to be too loose at waist.

what would you recommend?

Nov 19, 2014

Darrin C: I have a 44" chest and 32" waist, so I bought a size "L". It fits me perfectly except it's a little large for me in the waist, and the Velcro straps only take up a small part of the excess.
The Velcro straps are long enough but the Velcro patches on the jacket itself don't really go back far enough to allow me to tighten it enough. My solution was to have my wife sew an extra length of Velcro farther back than RIVER ROAD had done, and it is now a perfect fit! It looks totally OEM and solved my problem completly. The Velcro can be bought from a fabric store like Jo-Ann or a craft store like Hobby Lobby or Micheals, and I'm sure any alteration shop would do this for less than $10, probably while you're waiting -- very simple.

A s: Hi......I do not feel qualified to answer...it was for my husband 44"W & 52": chect.....he got a 2XL.......I would call the company directly......I will tell you we were very pleased with the material and the construction quality of the jacket.....I am sure you would be pleased with that part of the purchase. If you are in the Phila area.....going to the store would be best ......otherwise call them.....they were helpful by pnone as well....GOOD LUCK, Martha Nov 21, 2014

Stacy B: It has Velcro straps that allow you to tighten the waist somewhat. I have a 32" waist and with the straps at their tightest it fits fairly snug, so a medium may be a bit loose at your waist. I'm 5'8", 155 lbs 42" chest and the medium fits me pretty well, not tight at all though. Hope that helps. Nov 21, 2014

Eric S: On my jacket, there seems to be a lot of space in the stomach area and I am 5'10" and 190lbs. With a 32 inch waist and about 42 inch chest. The shoulders fit great but because of the stomach area, it bunches up a bit. I have a medium so I would assume a small would fit well for you. Nov 20, 2014

Jay P: I'm 5'10", 160 lbs, 40 inch chest, with no gut, wide shoulders, and long arms. I bought the small and it fits just right other than slightly more material around the middle than necessary for a flat-belly (not so much that it gets sloppy). May 19, 2015

RevZilla: The River Road Baron Mesh Jacket does not have any waterproof properties. If you're looking for a waterproof Summer weight jacket, check out the compiled list of potential jacket options here.

URIT: I have ridden through some hard rain with the liner that comes with the jacket, and it keeps you pretty dry. I can't say much for the rest of my body, but my torso stayed dry.. Hope this helps! May 13, 2013

Darrin C: My jacket came with one liner, a full w/sleeves that zips in. It seems pretty water proof if you get caught in a short bit of rain, but may eventually soak through in a constant downpour. Nov 27, 2014

A shopper asked: Hi, i don't know much about motorcycle jackets, and i want to know if a mesh jacket like this one gives a good abrasion protection? May 5, 2015
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Shawn C: Yes, it offers reasonable resistance to abrasion. The alternative for summer weather is perforated leather, or the much more expensive Gore-Tex and Kevlar jackets. Most higher quality jackets are actually combination of materials to offer the best safety and comfort. May 6, 2015
Reply to Shawn Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Raymond B: 1000 Denier Cordura Nylon is what you want for abrasion protection. Unfortunately I can't find a description that says what type of polyester, (nylon), was used in the shell of this jacket. May 6, 2015

A shopper asked: Hey guys,

I'm really tempted by this jacket and would love some further details on the fit. I'm 5' 6, 127lbs, 36 inch chest and 28 waist. Definitely prefer an European cut/snugger fit with less material around the abdomen and arms for my jackets. Seeing that this is described as an American cut, I'm a bit concerned that it's going to end up too baggy. Can anyone else with similar measurements chime in on how this jacket fits? Thanks!

Maria M: The jacket fits american. Im 5'9 42 chest 30 waist. Yes, you will have a belly while wearing this jacket that you wish you didn't have. However, I've worn this jacket for 3 seasons and i couldn't be happier with my purchase. This this is your price range, go for this one. It has a great removable wind breaker that allows you to ride worry free up until 45 degrees, anything lower it gets chilly.and once removed, it is a perfect hot summer jacket.
I ride a cbr f2 street fighter with aggressive riding position and i think it looks great on a sportbike rider. Hope this helped.

colin t: I'm 6'1" 205lbs 42" chest 34 waist. I have a medium and it fits great. It's good and snug with the liner in, on me. Though the sleeves could be an inch longer for me, the shoulder and elbow armor is still in the right places. Also, I'm very happy with the quality of this jacket for the money. Mar 1, 2015
