Good warm weather jacket This is a good warm weather jacket. The fit is true to size with the liner in, when I removed the liner I found that the sleeves were a little looser than I would like (maybe I should just hit the gym). Also as has been said before, I wish that there was better back protection. All in all I think that this is a good jacket, the liner is adequate with temps in the mid 40s F and the flow is good for the warmer temps out here in the desert. The armor (except the back pad) seems to be good quality. The buttons, velcro, and zippers used for the adjustments seem to be of good quality for the price of the jacket. I would recommend this to someone looking for a reasonably priced armored mesh jacket. March 11, 2015
Great jacket Great jacket just wish it came with a better back protector but its great for the money February 16, 2015
Mesh Jacket - Practical & Affordable I was searching for a mesh jacket that I could use when I had to ride for work or for longer rides and was happy to find something like the River Road Mesh jacket that didn't have large branding etc on it. However, I was looking for something with a balance for visibility - as I didn't think that wearing a BLACK JACKET on the road (on a BLACK BIKE) was something that was wise. The RR jacket was perfect for me as it had 2 stripes on the side - that was visible enough when I was riding. As I live in relatively warm climate all year round - the INNER LINING, which was detachable, came off when I received it. With the INNER LINING - wearing the jacket was a little "tighter" although the cut and fit is correct for a US size M. Because the lining required more space, it was actually a little tight for me. But once this came off - it was a comfortable fit for me. (I don't think there's anything wrong with the jacket - its good to have the option for a liner for colder weathers.) The jacket had enough adjustable space to taper my the fit to something that I like. The jacket also comes with protection / armor that you can remove or add on - I've taken some out just because it makes the jacket a little heavy for my daily use. (I use it for urban riding to work) But on researching the jacket I've noted that some other folks have bought additional / new armor to replace the existing ones. I'm not sure if it is "lighter" when you do that. I will study that option. Overall, I recommend this jacket for someone looking for a mid-priced jacket - its affordable and the quality of material used is good and it shows. (Zippers, heavy duty velcro, nice internal lining and thought about amour accessibility. Good value for money given the quality of build in this jacket. December 31, 2014
Versatile and safe I bought this jacket to replace an old leather one that I lost. The mesh allows for plenty of airflow while still feeling like I'm being well protected, especially with the built-in armor. Having a removable liner is a definite plus for chilly mornings and late nights, although the button/loop system is a little bothersome at times. Overall a great jacket for riding any time of year. this thing moves so much air. And with the liner in - this thing is water proof and warm. A very dynamic jacket. November 17, 2014
happy biker this is an awesome jacket got style comfort fits great looks nice you will be very happy with this jacket the price is worth every penny and then some November 10, 2014
Subtle Style with multi-season versatility I really like this jacket. In fact, I talked my buddy into buying one. You can't beat it for the price. It's very subtle with no logos, and the reflective piping really does show up when lights wash over you. With the liner in, you are warm (just rode in 50° temps tonight#, and with the liner out it stays relatively comfortable in 95° Texas heat. The armor seems adequate, though I haven't tested it #and hope to not test it......) November 8, 2014
"Bang for the Buck" sums it up Nice looking jacket; seems to flow air well enough (though I bought it late in season and haven't ridden on an extremely hot day); features are what is needed - hard to beat for the price. Definitely recommended. October 28, 2014

A shopper asked: How tight (or open) is the mesh on this jacket? Not asking so much about airflow but appearance -- with some mesh jackets, the mesh is so open that you can tell what color shirt you're wearing under it (with no liner in, of course) and I'm not particularly crazy about that look.

A s: Hello, happy to answer your question........even with the liner out, there is a lining behind the mesh. I think you would be very pleased with this jacket.....it is very well made and the fabric is very substantial. I have been wearing mine for a year and a half. If you have any other questions I would be happy to answer. Oct 4, 2014

Matthew L: You cannot see what color shirt you are wearing underneath. The inner lining (not the thick one you can take out) is perforated like gym shorts are and is not Mesh..so there is still room for airflow but its not see through. Oct 4, 2014

Kyle B: It's a wide mesh but it has like a silky backer and channels. You won't beable to see anything you have on under it. Even with out the winter liner in. Love this jacket. Oct 5, 2014

Timothy A: Yes, the shirt color is going to show through. Not super tight mesh. Good jacket though. Oct 7, 2014

A shopper asked: What size is the back armor? I would want to upgrade it so which pads would fit? Mar 14, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (1) No (0)
Leigh G: 13" wide by 15" tall. You may not want to upgrade it because it is just lite mesh on the back. There wont be alot of hold back there. I feel the padding that they give you is good enough.

Good luck, great summer jacket.

Eric S: Honestly, I don't wear my back pad. I feel it is a bit in the way with my flexibility of my shoulders. I also do not know if the pad in my jacket would be the same as the pad in a larger or smaller jacket. Sorry I could not help. Mar 17, 2014

Mario J asked: Hey there, i would like to know which size is the right for me... im between S or M

im 5'11, 156lbs, 40in chest and 29waist

i dont want it to be too loose at waist.

what would you recommend?

Darrin C: I have a 44" chest and 32" waist, so I bought a size "L". It fits me perfectly except it's a little large for me in the waist, and the Velcro straps only take up a small part of the excess.
The Velcro straps are long enough but the Velcro patches on the jacket itself don't really go back far enough to allow me to tighten it enough. My solution was to have my wife sew an extra length of Velcro farther back than RIVER ROAD had done, and it is now a perfect fit! It looks totally OEM and solved my problem completly. The Velcro can be bought from a fabric store like Jo-Ann or a craft store like Hobby Lobby or Micheals, and I'm sure any alteration shop would do this for less than $10, probably while you're waiting -- very simple.

A s: Hi......I do not feel qualified to answer...it was for my husband 44"W & 52": chect.....he got a 2XL.......I would call the company directly......I will tell you we were very pleased with the material and the construction quality of the jacket.....I am sure you would be pleased with that part of the purchase. If you are in the Phila area.....going to the store would be best ......otherwise call them.....they were helpful by pnone as well....GOOD LUCK, Martha Nov 21, 2014

Stacy B: It has Velcro straps that allow you to tighten the waist somewhat. I have a 32" waist and with the straps at their tightest it fits fairly snug, so a medium may be a bit loose at your waist. I'm 5'8", 155 lbs 42" chest and the medium fits me pretty well, not tight at all though. Hope that helps. Nov 21, 2014

Eric S: On my jacket, there seems to be a lot of space in the stomach area and I am 5'10" and 190lbs. With a 32 inch waist and about 42 inch chest. The shoulders fit great but because of the stomach area, it bunches up a bit. I have a medium so I would assume a small would fit well for you. Nov 20, 2014

URIT: I have ridden through some hard rain with the liner that comes with the jacket, and it keeps you pretty dry. I can't say much for the rest of my body, but my torso stayed dry.. Hope this helps! May 13, 2013

Darrin C: My jacket came with one liner, a full w/sleeves that zips in. It seems pretty water proof if you get caught in a short bit of rain, but may eventually soak through in a constant downpour. Nov 27, 2014

A shopper asked: Hey guys,

I'm really tempted by this jacket and would love some further details on the fit. I'm 5' 6, 127lbs, 36 inch chest and 28 waist. Definitely prefer an European cut/snugger fit with less material around the abdomen and arms for my jackets. Seeing that this is described as an American cut, I'm a bit concerned that it's going to end up too baggy. Can anyone else with similar measurements chime in on how this jacket fits? Thanks!

Maria M: The jacket fits american. Im 5'9 42 chest 30 waist. Yes, you will have a belly while wearing this jacket that you wish you didn't have. However, I've worn this jacket for 3 seasons and i couldn't be happier with my purchase. This this is your price range, go for this one. It has a great removable wind breaker that allows you to ride worry free up until 45 degrees, anything lower it gets chilly.and once removed, it is a perfect hot summer jacket.
I ride a cbr f2 street fighter with aggressive riding position and i think it looks great on a sportbike rider. Hope this helped.

colin t: I'm 6'1" 205lbs 42" chest 34 waist. I have a medium and it fits great. It's good and snug with the liner in, on me. Though the sleeves could be an inch longer for me, the shoulder and elbow armor is still in the right places. Also, I'm very happy with the quality of this jacket for the money. Mar 1, 2015
