REV'IT! Nautilus Jacket 4.8 5 4 4
Jacket does just what I needed it to I have a Rev'it GT-R Air jacket that I love, but when it started to get cold I was stacking layer upon layer underneath it and was still freezing because it flows so much air. While being great for summer, it's just too cold for winter and not weatherproof (A nasty 3 hour thunderstorm turned me into a soggy dog). What attracted me to the Nautilus was the combination of a thermal liner, waterproofing, zero venting, reasonable price, and the fact that I could transfer my back armor from the GT-R Air. While I haven't tested the waterproofing yet, the rest works great. I'm roughly 5'11 and 185 pounds and the large fits well. I also wear a large in the GTR-Air so the back armor is a direct match. It doesn't vent at all, the liner is super warm (I just wear a long sleeve Under Armor t-shirt under it in 40 degree temps) and longer than the GT-R Air so it covers the back side a bit more. I also have a pair of Rev'it Factor 3 riding pants and the two zip together nicely. The reflective is actually much stronger than on my GT-R Air. Very happy with the purchase. We'll see if I ever get caught in a nasty 3 hour storm like I did with the GT-R to evaluate the waterproofing on it. If I had only one complaint it's that the collar tends to tug and rub a bit if you have stubble, even though it's a very soft fleece which is otherwise very comfy. November 9, 2015
Works Well for Commuting I bought this as the weather here in the Southeast was starting to cool, for use as a fall/winter commuting jacket. So far the coolest I've been has been upper 40s and the warmest has been around 80F. My commute is typically 50% interstate at around 75mph, with the balance being stop and go, heavily congested surface streets. When temperatures were in the upper 70s to 80, the jacket is very uncomfortable (liner out) in stop and go but tolerable at highway speeds. With the lower temperatures in the morning I've found stop and go to be very comfortable, with highway speeds a bit chilly as the liner is usually at home. In the month of use so far, I'd say the jacket would work well in all riding conditions up to the low 70s without the liner. With the liner I've found it to be too warm in stop and go but pretty good at highway speeds. I have not yet been able to find the lower temperature limit (for me) with this jacket. As for quality, the jacket is very heavy duty and seems like it should last for some time. It has some reflective patches, however I've opted to add the optional hi-viz connector vest. There is only one interior chest pocket, I really wish there were two. External pockets are decently sized. BTW, I'm 5'9" and stocky at 190lbs but I've found the large works well without the liner. With the liner in, the jacket is pretty snug but still OK. I do have the optional back protector installed. Sleeves are a bit long for me but the velcro cuff allows me to cinch them tightly around the wrists. For summer commuting I have the Rev'it Airwave and this jacket seems to be just as solidly constructed. October 16, 2015
Great 3 season jacket I have been riding with this jacket since last fall, through the winter and now this spring. It is has met or exceeded all expectations thus far. If I wear a fleece or sweatshirt under it, I could ride at freezing. Feet/hands will stop me from riding miles before this jacket. This spring I have been riding in low 60's and it has been great. In mild temps I will wear a tee-shirt or very light long sleeve shirt and have no issues with the cold air. The jacket is airtight. No wind gets to you, but in mild weather it just seems like a nice light jacket. I am sure once the weather gets HOT it will not work due to not letting any wind through. I like the two front pockets and not having chest pockets. I think the nautilus looks more like a casual jacket (sporty), not a technical piece. I am 6'4" 220lb and the XXL is a great fit. Long enough (big issue for me) and zipper interfaces well with Rev'It trousers. I rated it on the 'small' side because XXL seems like it would be wider, but it is more long which is perfect for me. Great commuter jacket Using it for commenting in New Mexico. Great in the cold weather, though seems like it will be too hot in the summer. February 16, 2015
