Great Looks great, shipped fast, does what it's supposed to do. August 24, 2015
Solid windscreen Went with the solid black, couldn't be happier, it matches my SV very well. Hardest part of the install was removing the old one; zero complaints. Personally, I can't notice a difference in wind protection, which is great. As long as it performed as good as the factory windscreen I would be happy, I purchased this product primarily for the aesthetic. May 22, 2015
A must-buy for an SV! This made a massive difference on the ridability of my SV650. Much less wind buffeting which makes for a warmer and more comfortable ride. The smoked gray looks great on my gray bike too. Very easy to install once you know how to do it. I would recommend getting a long length of wire and, after removing the windshield screws, run it through the rubber inserts and push the rubber inserts through so you can fish them out of the front fairing assembly. Mine were near impossible to pull out, and the wire method took maybe 1-2minutes for each insert. I would also recommend going to your local motorcycle parts shop and picking up new inserts because they are cheap and the old ones are probably not optimal (my 6500 mile bike needed new ones). The reason I gave it a 4/5 on finish is because there is a small gap at the bottom pointy-end of the windscreen where I'd like it to be perfectly flush. It's not a big issue, I just wish it fit slightly better. Take this with a grain of salt though because it's possible I just didn't push it down far enough with installation. May 4, 2015
It's way better than oem plastic revzilla sent me the wrong color but I'm still satisfied with the fit and ease installation of the product June 9, 2014

Tommy H asked: Hi this is a direct OEM fit? No need for extra brackets/kits? And this is quite obvious, but I will asking anyways, it will come with screws/clips right? Sep 29, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
David R: Yes, this is a direct OEM fit. It is a slight juggle to get it in and line up all the holes, but once you do, it lines right up. The Puig screen is well made, nice and thick with the correct hole pattern. It does NOT come with any fasteners so you have to use the original rubber retainer nuts, washers and screws from your bike.
I found it easiest to us a lightweight solvent based cleaning oil (like WD40) to lube the retaining nuts first - then slightly turn the screws into the retainers a couple of turns - then, supporting the back side, grab the screws with the retainer and press them through the lined up holes both in the factory fairing AND the Puig screen. You should definitely feel the retainer flange go through both holes!! Then hand tighten screw to expand the retainer and pull the screen and fairing together. NICEY!!!!
Have been riding with the screen a couple of months now and all I have to say is Wow! What a pleasure it is to ride with a well engineered screen. The wind is well deflected and what comes over the screen is smooth and clean - no buffeting. Makes your helmet even quieter. SWEET!!

Douglas P: on my 2007 SV 650s it was a direct replacement. no, it does not come with any extra screws you use the ones that came with it. Of course you can always upgrade them with some colored ones or something like that but otherwise you just use the OEM bolts and well nuts. Sep 29, 2014

Tommy H: So would the 'Factory Effex Windscreen Screw Kit' here on revzilla work with this windscreen on my '06 sv650s?

And how tinted is the smoke compared to the dark smoke? Is either usable at nighttime, or when it's very cloudy.

Bradley F: Should be direct fit. However you will more than likely need to reuse the clips and screws. Sep 29, 2014

A shopper asked: Will this pass safety inspection? Thanks Mar 25, 2015
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Brad K: As long as the inspection doesn't require the screen to have no tint, yes. Structurally, it is even stronger than stock.

I would be surprised if a windscreen caused a failed inspection. They're looking more for in-tact brake lines, tires, chain, lights, levers, controls, etc...

Douglas P: I actually just had my bike inspected and here in NC tinting is N/A for motorcycles so it passed just fine. However, I suggest you contact your local DMV to see what the regulations are where you live. Mar 26, 2015

Mildred S asked: Hello i am looking for the touring version of this windscreen do you have it or can you get it ? thank you May 13, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Brad K: Mildred,

ZLA wants me to answer this question for you because I bought one last year. I don't have, nor can I get the touring version of the windscreen. I do however really like the windscreen on my SV.

Mildred S: how much protection do you get from it .. i am 6'1 . dose it come in s smoked . that tint looks to dark to see through in a tuck ? May 13, 2014
Brad K: The screen does look dark, but when looking through it while in a tuck position it is plenty transparent even at night, especially if your roads have reflective lane markers. Protection wise, it does offer a good bit of buffering from the wind pressure. May 13, 2014
