Puig Racing Windscreen Kawasaki Ninja 1000

Derived from competition, the race bubble design helps diminish the air effect on a rider's helmet.

  • Made of high impact acrylic, giving each screen added strength and flexibility
  • 3mm thickness helps absorb vibration at high speeds, and offers resistance from cracking or scratching
  • All screens are developed using information from wind tunnel testing

Big improvement over stock
I found the stock windscreen on the Ninja inadequate above 65 mph or so, with a lot of helmet buffeting. The protection offered by the Puig is of course dependent on what position you have it in, but it is better in all three. I keep mine in the middle position most of the time, where it works well up to 70 or so. Above that, I put it all the way up, where it sends most of the air over my helmet. And the dark smoke color looks great with the blue bike as well. Overall, a great improvement at modest cost.

Better protection from the wind.
Have never purchased a Puig product before, will be happy to again. The windshield I purchased was well made, fit perfectly, and not a single flaw anywhere. Being a little wider and taller the Puig gives great protection. I am 6' 2" and in the middle position the air hits me about neck level and keeps my helmet in clean air. Very pleased with this windshield, much better looking than stock shield.

Better Coverage, Still Stylish
I bought the Puig Racing Screen earlier this year in a spate of accessory buying. There was nothing wrong with the stock screen on my Ninja, but I really liked the look of the Puig and I wanted a bit more protection. I mostly ride as a commuter, and most of those rides are short, so I usually leave the screen in its lowest position. I only raise it when I know I'm going to be riding for an extended period. The Puig creates a slightly larger pocket for me (I'm 6'1"), and it doesn't look out of place on the bike. Many aftermarket screens work great, but they don't blend well with the original styling. This screen is subtly different from stock, enough to make a difference without looking silly. I also feel the black color helps to minimize its profile on the bike. My only complaint is that the material seems thin compared to the OEM screen, and the edges aren't rounded as they are on the stock piece. I can understand if Puig is going for the lightest screen, but since the Ninja 1000 isn't really a racer, I'd prefer a more finished look and substantial feel over a few saved ounces of weight.

Best for regular sport bikes!
I purchased this Puig for my 2012 Ninja 1000 that sports an upright position for the rider. The Puig is an improvement reducing wind blast over the stock windshield however at 5' 9", I still feel a fair amount of wind on my shoulders and at the top of my helmet. If you sit more prone on your sports bike (flat), this windshield should be great compared to any stock windshield. The product is well built and was easily installed.

Better wind protection than stock.
This is a really nice windshield for my 2014 Ninja 1000. I got the light smoked and it looks great on my bike. I would have given it an Excellent for durability but it seems a little thinner than the stock windshield.

Looks better than the factory windscreen
I bought this windscreen for my Ninja 1000, I've put about 100 miles on it. I love it, so far so good. Looks so much better than the factory windscreen, a little taller and wider. only thing I regret is getting the dark smoke, I wish I'd went with the blackout tint

Great Windscreen! Highly Recommended.
The Puig windscreen is a little wider and a little taller than stock. The tint and the shape look much better than stock. Finish is excellent and installation is very easy. I bought black mounting bolts as they look much better than the stock silver bolts. In the low and medium position, airflow is smooth. I don't feel like the air is trying to move my shoulders like the stock screen. In the high position, there is a bit of turbulence, but it is better than stock. This was a very good purchase and would recommend it to other owners of the Ninja 1000.

looks great, does its job
only reason i didnt give it 5 stars across the board is based on the price, and the fact it doesnt come with mounting hardware. other than that the fit and finish are excellent, and it performs well. completely changed the look of my bike from the front view compared to the large clear stock windscreen.

Wanted a slightly bigger, better looking windscreen. This one makes the bike look way better. It also does a better job of shielding the lower part of my helmet and shoulders.

Becasue, I wanted an aftermarket windscreen and Puig had the best reviews I could find on Google, in my Forum (Kawasaki Ninja 1000 ABS Forums) , and among my Peers.

Does it come with the screws or other mounting hardware?
A shopper on Jun 24, 2015
BEST ANSWER: No need and it doesn't come with different screws! It is an easy plug in place exchange. You can use the OEM hard wear to mount the new screen. I love the design and the performance of the new windscreen. Much better wind protection and view of the Gage's....
Does it come with screws or mounting hardware? What comes in the box/bag from Puig?
loran b on Jun 24, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Sorry for the late reply, but the only thing that comes is the windscreen, no hardware. Installation is easy. Just take off the old one and place the new one on, you might have to shift the mounting rack a bit to get the bolts in the screen slots. No biggie though
Will the 2011-14 Puig windscreen also fit a 2015 Ninja 1000?
N1krider on Mar 11, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I can't give you a definitive on That. Mine is a 14. If your dealer has a 14 on the floor I'd look it over. Love my smoked puig by the way.
Does this fit the 2014 z1000? it is way different than the 2013.
A shopper on Sep 22, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I can only confirm that it fits the 2014 Ninja 1000. Considering the Z1000 is a naked street fighter, I do not believe this will fit on a Z1000.
For the Ninja 1000, how does puig racing windscreen compare to zero gravity double bubble?
Are both very close to stock dimensions? Is it just a matter of preference for the particular shape?
Anthony P on Jul 18, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I can't really make a comparison between the two because I haven't seen both side by side, I can say the Puig looks and fits great. Puig and Zero Gravity both make great windscreens and I owned examples of both. I personally have the Puig on my bike but am sure would be happy with either one
Which is the darkest color option? Hard to tell from the pics. Thanks
A C on Sep 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Mine was a light green windshield, Revzilla is extremely fast, every thing I ordered was perfect. Sadly I was hit by police car, in Washington DC totaled my zx1000, officer ran a light with no siren I had the green. All I saw was a flash of white followed by the impact into the back door! I'll be back and will continue to order from Revzilla!
Is the black screen opaque or semi clear, and will it work with a radar detector?
A shopper on May 20, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Completely blacked out. Not sure about radar detector. Screen is somewhat taller but can be adjusted Up and down just like stock screen.
Will this windscreen fit my 2014 Ninja 1000?
William H on Jan 6, 2014
BEST ANSWER: To my knowledge the windscreen for the ninja 1000 has stayed the same so it should fit a 2014. Good choice it has great wind protection in the highest position
What is the length and width of this Puig Racing Windscreen for the 2014 Ninja 1000? How much taller is it than stock?
Joe W on Nov 17, 2014
BEST ANSWER: It is just slightly taller and wider. Also, it's a bit thicker. The shape is the biggest plus though as buffeting is greatly reduced. I've run mine on the low setting for over 6000 miles. For me, the low setting provides the cleanest air, and the lift provided by air pushing against my chest takes a good deal of pressure off my wrists. As a result, I've found I can cover more miles per day without discomfort. However, in the high setting, it does provide for more wind/rain protection than the stock screen.
