Fitment Notes & Exceptions

  • Depending on model, your stock shock length is either 12 or 13 inches - please verify prior to ordering
  • Shock lengths are measured fully extended, eyelet to eyelet on centers
  • Changing ride height can potentially change many carefully-engineered attributes of your bike, including trail and mechanical trail
  • A change in ride height at one end of the vehicle usually will require a change at the other end
  • Heavy Duty shocks are recommended for bikes operated at or near the OEM maximum load rating over 50% of the time
  • Prior to purchasing shocks that are different than your OEM length, please verify that wheel and suspension travel can be altered without causing clearance issues - common interference spots include swingarm, axle, frame, tire, fender, chain/belt and guard, and exhaust
  • Not for Trike applications (FLHXXX, FLHTCUTG)

A shopper asked: how much does it lower the seat ? May 12, 2014

Art A: Only about a 1/2 inch. You will instantly notice the ride is more firm and stable in turns. It took about 500 miles for my set to break in. I actually added more preload to get them set to my preference. I am 6'1" and weigh 250lbs. These shocks do what they are supposed to do. If you want to lower your ride height significantly you won't achieve that goal. They are a great value.... May 13, 2014

Steve B: The Progressive 11 1/2" should be stock length, when I removed my stock shocks they measured 11 1/2" EYE TO EYE (2008 Sportster XL1200C). I purchased the 13" and I love them! I'am 6'-2" and I weigh 210 lbs so the extra length was just what I needed.
It is a great product and greatly improve the rear suspension!

A shopper asked: I own a road king and need to lower the bike due to the fact I have short legs. I am looking to get 2" from where I am now (Stock) What are my options? Jun 4, 2014

Arnold V: A lot of things need to be checked, including manufacturers suggested applications. If you had 13 1/2" shocks and then go to 11 1/2" you can lose the 2" but you need to also consider clearance of tire from inside rear fender. Wires are running in that fender and you could bottom out with too short of shocks. Jun 4, 2014
