New Pirelli Customer After two thousand miles and one insanely bad storm I can rightfully say that I'm very pleased with the Pirelli Angel Sport tires. Grip and feedback are superb on the twisties and highway alike. They were fantastic during the torrential downpour I rode through last month. Wear looks nominal so I'm hopeful that they'll last a fair amount of miles. I would definitely recommend them for any of the Triumph Classic Triples. September 5, 2014
Tire Review I have only ridden about 1K miles since installing the Pirelli Angel. The tire is tracking very nice, I have had a few slips but I am unsure if that is due to the sand in the road or the quality of the tire. At this point I will think it has been sand and will continue to push on this tire as it does appear to be a very good quality choice. May 7, 2014
great grip in wet Wow wow is what I can say. Had these for about 5000km now on my FZ800N. Great in the wet and heat up so fast and when I'm at the traffic lights notice that the water is drying out before my eyes. but you still have to be careful. In the dry I can push my FZ to the limit And get so low I'm scraping my pegs. Heat up fast and when hot time to chop in to the twisty roads. My old Dumlops gave me 20,000km but the GT's will far better that. April 9, 2014
Tire is great I used this tire everyday and it has lasted me for two years. Great tire and worth it. April 5, 2014
Long life and Great handling The Pirelli Angel ST front tires lasted me over 13,000 miles/2 years and continue to handle very well in wet and dry conditions. These tires hold up well during my 120 mile daily commute and are a blast on weekend rides through the twisties. May 4, 2014
Front tire didn't last and is putting the fear of god in me every time I lean over. Have Angel ST's on an FJR1300. Rear tire is holding up well. Front Angel is scaring the cr*p outta me with about 4k on her. It slips on the slightest road imperfection and then grabs...I hate it. I've been diligent about psi checking.....but the tire is starting to cup even though it shows good tread life left. I'll be putting on Michelin's next, as they have been superb on my other bike. (Pilot Power 3's on Z1). January 29, 2014
Typical Pirelli I have ran multiple sets of angel ST tires on my 08 BMW R1200RT. I have ridden on many different brands and models of tires over the years and while I would say most tires have a bit better tread life, nothing is as predictable and confidence inspiring as the Angel ST. Their traction is hands down superb over any other tire that has been on my bike. I've had numerous bikes over the years and have always favored the Pirelli brand for their superior performance in both wet and dry weather. The biggest sacrifice you make with Pirellis is tread life. And their tires seem to run a bit more expensive than the others. But, when that contact patch is the only thing keeping you and your bike from the roadway, I think the Angel ST is the best tire for a sport touring bike. Also if you are on a heavier bike such as my BMW, I definitely recommend the "E spec" rear tire. I noticed running the standard rear tire that I had a lot of sidewall flex which gave the feeling of a flat tire. I would have given Pirelli Angel ST 5 stars, but I know tread life is a big concern for many people. And if you are strictly a fair weather commuter, this tire isn't ideal for you. November 25, 2013
Very good tire, but old The tires are working very good. The grip is perfect. But the tire I get was older than two years. That's bad. January 6, 2014

A shopper asked: Hi,

I ride a 2012 Ninja 650. It comes with stock Dunlop Roadsmart II tyres which have performed well but are on their last legs now. I was considering replacing them with the Pirelli Angel STs.

I have a separate set of Metzeler Sportec M5s which I use for the trackdays so this new set is strictly for street use with the usual Sunday Canyon riding thrown in. The Dunlops have performed well so far with good grip. My apprehension is that the Angel STs are a single compound tyre unlike the Dunlops which are dual compound.

What is your review of the Angel ST vis-a-vis the Dunlop Roadsmart IIs for street / sport-touring use?

My only experience so far have been the Dunlops so need to know how these fare against them.

James W: I ride Kawasaki Concourse C-14 and switched to Angels after OEM's lasted 3,500. I regularly get 6,000 on a set, with 80% on twisties (NC/TN border). That's on 700 lb. bike. Never a slip or abnormal situation of aggressive riding. So I slipped a set on my ZX6R 09' ninja 180/ vs. the 190's on C-14. Under hard riding and NO issues, I achieved 4,500 miles vs. the 2,000 on BT016's and 2CT's. I've also worked in tire development for Bridgestone for over 23 years. Yet I prefer the Pirelli's on my bikes, why... they work and work well. Multi compounds have a use, primarily for extended tire mileage and specific grip on DOT tires for track use. Also it's great marketing,.... The Angels will grip, grip, grip. Remember run the recommended pressure, tire belts and sidewall/bead construction is all designed to deliver that good grip and safety for a reason. Lower pressures are Ok for DOT slicks and a slight lowering on barely street legal tires for tracks. On the highway, tires are constructed completely different to provide aggressive performance with abnormal surface characteristics built in. I just wish Pirelli would build some 180/70-16's for my heavy V-twin bagger. I also have switched to Pirelli's on my KTM 690. Hope I've been of some help. Oct 8, 2013

Louis C: I can't help you with a comparison since I've never ridden on Roadsmarts. However, I can tell you about my experience with the Pirelli Angel ST. All of which have been good. I've had 4 sets so far, I get approx. 10000 miles out of them and I still have tread left. As the miles pile up the tires still feel good. They have great grip when it's dry and handle well in the rain. Turn in is neutral, the bike just turns effortlessly. I have them on a R1150RA and a Monster and they work well on both. I have bought 4 sets so far and will by a 5th when the time comes. Hope this helps.
Good Luck with your choice

Alexis G: Hi,
I bought them for my 09 Suzuki GSX650f... and right away I felt a big difference (in a good way) over the stock tires. With these tires the bike leans a lot faster, and with more stability (you can keep the leaning angle with more ease). I do a long distance commute and these tires did a good job... I rode like 1500 miles before I sold the bike, so I don't know How long will they last... I have a different bike and in a few months I will be buying tires...

Joe R: I purchased the Pirelli for my 2010 Concours 14. The Dunlop seemed to get eaten up fairly quick on this bike and most of the owners were switching to the Pirelli. I had good luck with the Pirelli, traction wet/dry was real good along with wear. DIdn't have any complaints at all. Oct 8, 2013
