Nolan N43E Trilogy Solid Helmet

New Features:

  • New: Chinbar is extended for extra room and now can accept included chin curtain
  • New: Face shield now has intermediate open position, previous version was either opened or closed
  • New: locking pivot kit

6-in-1 design

The New Nolan N43E Trilogy Helmet is a crossover design with quick-change accessories that allows for customized looks and functions for every ride. The helmet comes with the clear shield, the integrated sun shield, the peak and the removable chinbar. The Lexan chinbar is EPS lined and mounted with strong stainless-steel latches, so it passes the tests for full-face helmets of the European standard ECE-2205.  VPS (Vision Protection System) features a short dark shield mounted on the inside of the helmet which moves independently from the face shield. It provides real eye protection and is also available in amber, light blue and light smoke as an accessory.  The VPS is easily operated by a large rubber coated slider on the left side of the Nolan N43

Features:

  • Quick-change shield is optically correct, UV-400 and fitted in an exceptionally large eyeport
  • Includes a Pinlock antifog insert
  • The short black peak can be installed in seconds instead of the clear shield
  • Ready for the N-Com communication system
  • Lightweight aerodynamic polycarbonate shell with built-in spoiler for improved stability
  • Fully removable and washable Clima-Comfort liner is anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and wicking
  • Super-efficient JSW top vent with exhaust grid in the rear spoiler; works in conjunction with the air  channels along the crown
  • Microlock (adjustable quick-release) retention system
  • Velour chin-strap padding
  • 3.6lbs with all accessories
  • DOT Certified

Notes: Trilogy Solid, Trilogy Outlaw and Trilogy Voyage Helmets are identical except for the paint or graphics. "Outlaw" versions of Nolan Helmets have a sleeker look with more subtle Nolan logos. Though this helmet passes ECE testing in Europe, in the US it is DOT Approved only.

Nolan N43E Trilogy Helmet - Solid 4.6 5 136 136
Great helmet overall I would highly recommend this helmet to anyone. With it being so light weight and it's ability to be configured so many ways, I haven't found a problem with it at all outside of possibly the air flow, but I haven't had a chance to use it on a really warm day yet either. May 26, 2014
Good, but The helmet fits great and is comfortable. It's got a really wide field of view, but the styrofoam noise is annoying as s*** May 26, 2014
Very versatile Quality of fit and finish is unsurpassed. Like the way you can change the function to different styles. The helmet is light weight and does not fog with the faceshield down. Ventilation is average. The only complaint is if you are using the Harley Davidson microphone/headset on this helmet, the fit is terrible. In order to fit properly on the Nolan, order a NCOM April 22, 2014
Let's you convert from full face to 3/4. Love it. Has the option for Bluetooth amongst other things. April 21, 2014
Fantastic Helmet This was my first helmet that I spent over $100s on. I have bought others around this same price range and this is still my absolute favorite. Its very comfortable. Its solid and doesnt wobble like my Bell helmet. The field of view is huge! And its so clear, you actually forget that you have a windscreen in front of your nose! Everyone who tried the helmet on for a ride raves about it. Infact my brother loved it so much I gave it to him to ride on his sports bike. Extremely dependable and gives you confidence on the rides. Chin bar a great added feature. March 19, 2014
Excellent helment This helmet rocks. The pinlock visor works amazingly well, which is nice for winter rides here in the midwest. The removable chin portion is great, it allows me to be able to put the thing on without taking my glasses off. March 17, 2014
Fabulous Helmet, why change it? I'm told the Nolan N44 has a slimmer profile (shape# while the N43 is more round. Thank God for round! I tried a half-dozen helmets in my "proper" size Large. They were like putting a vice on my head. I know I have a roundish head so where are those helmets? Enter the Nolan N43E. The shape is perfect for my head - perfect. I ordered the XL just to reduce returns #all over again) and it's perfect for my 23 inch skull size. In addition, there's NO sacrifice in this Nolan helmet. The quality of material and workmanship are obvious from the inside and outside. I personally feel the removable chin plate is a better answer to a modular helmet when you plan to ride on well maintained US roads and highways. I have trouble getting the slightest moving air into my eyes. They begin to water immediately so I also purchased top brand goggles from Revzilla to wear when I switch the Nolan to an open-faced helmet in the summer. I consider this far and away a super value - Italian made all the way. February 11, 2014
If you buy this helmet you get a lot of bang for the buck I bought this style of helmet for the second time from Revzilla. The first one arrived as promised but the chin curtain was defective. I returned it and got a full refund just as promised. For Christmas I decided I would try it again and ordered a silver helmet this time and everything was correct with this helmet. The first one I ordered was white and was out of stock this time so I got a silver one to match my bike. All the features on the helmet work great. It looks like the air flow should be good. I will find out this coming weekend as we should be at about 50 degrees. I love all the features of this helmet as I need to wear glasses when I ride and they go on and off very easy. The chin bar comes off and goes back on very easy and the built in sunshade is great. The shield and sun shade and air vent are very easy to operate. The helmet fits great and looks great. A shopper asked: I understand there is no D ringon the N43E Trilogy? How can it be locked to the motorcycle? Thanks. Oct 31, 2011
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (1) No (0)
sdwindansea: Actually you can lock the helmet. There are several different places (including Nolan) that sell what looks like a t-bar that slides through the microlock female ratchet and can then be attached to your bike. Here is one such example: http://www.airrider.com/product_p/07-22.htm Nov 14, 2011
Reply to sdwindansea Good answer? Yes (1) No (0)
RDalt: You can add a D-ring to the strap. Buy one from Lowes or similar and install it between the ratchet and the helmet. This will cost you about a dollar vs 7+ for a T-bar. I did this with my N90 and it worked just fine. Apr 11, 2012
Reply to RDalt Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Grizzly: A small cable lock will slide through the strap or simply remove a D ring from an old helmet by spreadiing it a bit the squeeze it back together on the Nolan helmet. Feb 26, 2012
Reply to Grizzly Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
NeilE: the only way I can see this happen is you you take a D ring from an old helmet nd insert it the adjutment belt, or you may use a small cable to do so Oct 29, 2012

TxRainman: I use a thin, retractable cable lock through the straps. Not the greatest solution, but does discourage thieves so far. Jul 6, 2012

W Jeremy D: I love the helmet, but the comm mic doesn't work--even though it is advertised to be compatible with H-D. The ear phones do work, though, and everything physically fits well--much better than the H-D screw-on mic arrangement. But it still doesn't work, so.........
I put 1300 miles on a 2014 Limited the week the '14s were released and love the bike. But forget about the Nolan comm.

Daniel M: There is a hard plastic trim piece around the bottom of the neck roll that prevents the headset clamp from working as intended. However, it is just trim and you can cut a notch in it with an Xacto knife without impacting the integrity of the helmet. The clamp fits fine after that. Oct 9, 2013

I purchased this helmet a year ago and I'm very happy with it. The visor comes with the helmet. The visor is something I never thought I'd use, but I found myself using it almost all summer. Good Luck.

william k: Yes, it has a small insert that is held in by plastic pins in the shield. This system works very well from fogging. Also the inserts can be purchased with different color lens, if you would like. I have the yellow one which works well on a cloudy day. Oct 19, 2013

Simon L: The visor includes the mount points for "pinlock" antifog inserts. Google pinlock to get more info on the appropriate insert. It looks a lot like a tear off for the inside but it works totally differently. Oct 19, 2013

Donald M: Very comfortable and light helmet.
I have the exact same problem as you.
I am at 23 1/8 and XL helmets are too big and some L are too small.
I bought this same helmet in a L and it fits very well.
You can also tweak it a bit in some places by easily removing the liner and carving or sanding out the tight spots from the hard foam inside the shell.
Very easy to do if you need to. You can even press out those "high" spots of the inner foam to flatten them out if that's all you need.
Best helmet I ever owned - had a HJC as well - in XL, a huge looking thing and was loose in a very short time. Didn't like it.
You'll love this helmet for it's light weight and comfort.
It's a great buy as well.
Love the shape and overall size, it won't give you that big head look.
Go for the Large and enjoy it as I do.

Lenny K: I hope I can help, but helmet sizing questions are always difficult because of different head shapes and differences in what riders deem as a comfortable, correct fit. It is my opinion that Nolan helmets tend to run a little small. The N43E Trilogy is my 3rd Nolan and in each case I went with the Medium size. When I measure my head circumference, and check the size chart, I come out at the upper end of the Small size. Also, my head shape is not the ideal shape for a Nolan helment - my head shape is similar to Anthony's - except maybe a little more towards round/oval. That may be the reason I find the medium more comfortable than the small. As for comfort, the 43E fells snug enough yet there are no uncomfortable pressure points, and I love the weight versus the N90 that it replaced.
All the reviews I read prior to purchase proved to be fairly accurate in terms of good points...versality, weight, side and rear vision, but I do get more wind noise in open face configuration - slightly improved when I attach the chin bar. I have ample room between my chin and the bar. I rate the venting slightly above average.
One issue I have is that in the face mask 'up one click' position, the fog shield bottom line falls in the middle of my sight line.
All in all i am very pleased with the purchase.

Thomas H: Had a similar issue. Choose the large and found that with time it loosened up. I did take some sandpaper to a few highs spots around where the speakers for my Scala rider fit; but nothing major. I ride with glasses and I am able to slide them on and off with ease. I like the flexibility of riding with or without a chin bar; althoughI recently saw what happened when a rider makes a face plant and have decided to ride with the chin bar. Also I like being able to remove the face shield and ride with a visor and the chin guard. Less confining. When in rain, i put the face plate back on. It takes less than 2 min. to make that change. I also purchased one for my wife, who loves hers. Sep 18, 2013

Ed W: My head size is slightly larger than 23 inches. I have the extra large N43 and that fits perfectly. I even have a little space left over after it loosened up a little bit, which I like. It's tends to fit a round face and head better than the old Nolan's did that's why was able to use the Nolan. I am extremely happy with this helmets fit, finish, and feel. Sep 18, 2013

A shopper asked: Hi. I've been looking for the Nolan N43E Trilogy helmet in the UK as it exactly what I;m looking for in a Helmet. I realise that it is DOT and ECE (in Europe) qualified, but in the UK the below rules apply. Doe this helmet qualify for the below?

All helmets sold in the UK must either:

meet British Standard BS 6658:1985 and carry the BSI Kitemark
meet UNECE Regulation 22.05
meet a European Economic Area member standard offering at least the same safety and protection as BS 6658:1985, and carry a mark equivalent to the BSI Kitemark

Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Stevan P: The pivot locking kit is the mechanism that keeps the shield in place. There is a flip up lever that needs to be dis-engaged before removing the shield as opposed to just a threaded dial. Oct 20, 2011

A shopper asked: Will a Sena SMH-5 mount to this helmet? I'm using a boom mike. Jul 16, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Brent65: I mounted my SMH-10 without difficulty. I made two small cuts to the helmet gasket (around the bottom) 1 to allow the clamp to slip up under the liner and 2 to allow for the boom to come inside the helmet. If you google search Nolan 43 with Sena, you will see photos from a Goldwing rider showing the install. Good luck, my install went seamless. Sep 4, 2012
Reply to Brent65 Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: Yes, the Sena SMH5 will be compatible with the Nolan N43E Helmet but only if you use the sticky part, not the clamp system. The reason for that is that the bottom neck part of the helmet is curved towards the inside of the helmet, and does not allow to install the clamp system without having to cut through that plastic part. The "E" model chin bar will provide the rider with more room in the chin area, and it also includes a chin curtain. On a related note, the N43E and the older N43 do not have slots to accept a chin bar, and cannot be retrofitted with a chin bar from either of the "Trilogy" helmets. Jan 29, 2013
