Nolan N43E Trilogy Solid Helmet

6-in-1 design 

The New Nolan N43E Trilogy Helmet is a crossover design with quick-change accessories that allows for customized looks and functions for every ride. The helmet comes with the clear shield, the integrated sun shield, the peak and the removable chinbar. The Lexan chinbar is EPS lined and mounted with strong stainless-steel latches, so it passes the tests for full-face helmets of the European standard ECE-2205.  VPS (Vision Protection System) features a short dark shield mounted on the inside of the helmet which moves independently from the face shield. It provides real eye protection and is also available in amber, light blue and light smoke as an accessory.  The VPS is easily operated by a large rubber coated slider on the left side of the helmet.

  • Quick-change shield is optically correct, UV-400 and fitted in an exceptionally large eyeport accepts the Pinlock antifog insert (not included)  
  • The short black peak can be installed in seconds instead of the clear shield 
  • Ready for the N-Com communication system 
  • Lightweight aerodynamic polycarbonate shell with built-in spoiler for improved stability 
  • Fully removable and washable Clima-Comfort liner is anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and wicking 
  • Super-efficient JSW top vent with exhaust grid in the rear spoiler; works in conjunction with the air  channels along the crown
  • Microlock (adjustable quick-release) retention system 
  • Velour chin-strap padding 
  • 3.6lbs with all accessories
  • Both D.O.T. and ECE certified

I love the wide view it offer. I can almost forget I have it on. It is comfortable, it have planty of space to fit an intercom system in it. It is a bit noisy, but for the rest... i love it.

I purchased the Black Trilogy helmet for me and the Black Trilogy Outlaw helmet for my wife. The fit for both of us is great. The Nolan sizing chart is spot-on. Most of the time, she likes the full face configuration, and I more often than not prefer 3/4, so the detachable chin guard makes us both happy.
The shield and sun visor are clean, clear, and easy to operate.
Ventilation is adequate, and the liner is comfortable. The ratchet strap is easier to attach and remove than a standard D-ring strap. My Sena headsets installed easily and sound great in this helmet.
Nolan build quality is first-rate, and the styling is nice. Highly recommend.

Only negative was that helmet had slight paint flaw at rear, which is a Nolan quality issue, but not sure if Revzilla is selling seconds, or this was a fluke.. Price was great and shipping too - ordered Saturday, arrived Tuesday. Good looking helmet, great vision. Overall, very happy with the purchase.

This is a very versatile helmet. It is comfortable and has a great field of vision. The only problems I have are:
1. With the chin strap extended to the longest, I only can go to two clicks on the lock comfortably.
2. I don't have a protruded chin by any means and the with the chin-bar attached it rubs against my chin.
3. I live in Germany and in the product details says it meets European standards ECE-2205, but it doesn't have the tag sewn into it. This can get you into trouble in different EU country's depending on their laws, even though it's made in Italy.
Overall, it's a versatile, light helmet with a great field of vision. As I have herd from my friends, you need to have a "Nolan head" which I don't think I have. They definitely cater to a round head. I like it and will buy another one if they fix these minor issues.

I was hoping for more airflow but its not bad. I mainly bought this for the different styles possible which is a must on long trips for me. I ride a 1800 Gold Wing with the windshield set in the lowest position so thats what the review is based on.

I watched the RevZilla Video and am happy to say it is just as explained in the video. I purchased it for the rain and have not been in the rain yet. I have been out at least 5 days when temp was well below 40 (on highway) and I my head stayed very warm.

Answer: 
You can add a D-ring to the strap. Buy one from Lowes or similar and install it between the ratchet and the helmet. This will cost you about a dollar vs 7+ for a T-bar. I did this with my N90 and it worked just fine.

A small cable lock will slide through the strap or simply remove a D ring from an old helmet by spreadiing it a bit the squeeze it back together on the Nolan helmet.

Actually you can lock the helmet. There are several different places (including Nolan) that sell what looks like a t-bar that slides through the microlock female ratchet and can then be attached to your bike. Here is one such example: http://www.airrider.com/product_p/07-22.htm

Answer: 
The pivot locking kit is the mechanism that keeps the shield in place. There is a flip up lever that needs to be dis-engaged before removing the shield as opposed to just a threaded dial.
