Nolan N43E Trilogy Outlaw Helmet

New design for 2012!

New Features:

  • New: Chinbar is extended for extra room and now can accept included chin curtain
  • New: Face shield now has intermediate open position, previous version was either opened or closed
  • New: locking pivot kit

6-in-1 design

The New Nolan N43E Trilogy Helmet is a crossover design with quick-change accessories that allows for customized looks and functions for every ride. The helmet comes with the clear shield, the integrated sun shield, the peak and the removable chinbar. The Lexan chinbar is EPS lined and mounted with strong stainless-steel latches, so it passes the tests for full-face helmets of the European standard ECE-2205.  VPS (Vision Protection System) features a short dark shield mounted on the inside of the helmet which moves independently from the face shield. It provides real eye protection and is also available in amber, light blue and light smoke as an accessory.  The VPS is easily operated by a large rubber coated slider on the left side of the helmet.

Features:

  • Quick-change shield is optically correct, UV-400 and fitted in an exceptionally large eyeport
  • Includes a Pinlock antifog insert
  • The short black peak can be installed in seconds instead of the clear shield
  • Ready for the N-Com communication system
  • Lightweight aerodynamic polycarbonate shell with built-in spoiler for improved stability
  • Fully removable and washable Clima-Comfort liner is anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and wicking
  • Super-efficient JSW top vent with exhaust grid in the rear spoiler; works in conjunction with the air  channels along the crown
  • Microlock (adjustable quick-release) retention system
  • Velour chin-strap padding
  • 3.6lbs with all accessories
  • Both D.O.T. and ECE certified

Note:  Trilogy Solid, Trilogy Outlaw and Trilogy Voyage Helmets are identical except for the paint or graphics. "Outlaw" versions of Nolan Helmets have a sleeker look with more subtle Nolan logos.

Happy Happy Happy I bought an outlaw to use on my dual sport and for cold weather riding on my Goldwing. It is true to size for my head shape and doesn't pinch or leave marks on my noggin. After a month I convinced my wife to buy one and 2 of my riding buddies liked my helmet enough to buy one too. It is the lightest helmet I have ever owned and there is no obstructed vision what so ever. I really like this purchase. May 13, 2013
Nice helmet This is a really nice helmet, and I think it is a great bang for the buck because it converts to 3 different styles. Sometimes I want a full face and other times I want open face, so it works well for me. Size Large: The fit seemed a bit tight at first when taking on and off as well as just wearing. After 3 weeks of use it is still a bit of a squeeze to take it on and off but once it's on it is much more comfortable and broken in. I would recommend this helmet to a friend. May 6, 2013
First full face helmet I finally took the plunge on a full face helmet. Until now I've always worn a half helmet on my Sportster with no windshield. I'm a fair weather rider and don't ride under 40 degrees or in the rain (on purpose#. My 45-55 minute commute is usually pretty cool in the morning and fog is also a good possibility. I do 35-70 mph on various stretches of road. This helmet has been a great upgrade. My face isn't frozen in the morning. My neck isn't sore from the helmet trying to pull my head from my body. It's a comfortable experience. I like the wide view and don't feel like my view is obstructed. The pin-lock insert is great to keep the fog off in the morning...it's actually pretty amazing. I like the styling enough that I don't feel like a goofball in it either. My only real gripe is the sun visor. Just like others have said, it doesn't come down far enough. Every time I use it, it's distracting for the first few minutes. After it's down for a while it gets better. If I think about it, it becomes annoying again. The line of the visor along with the bottom of the pin-lock insert adds distraction. Also, I'm not a big fan of the clarity either. Maybe I'm spoiled by nice polarized sunglasses. I can't comment on sound levels because it's way quieter than my half helmet. My exhaust #V&H w/ quiet baffles) is still pretty loud in the helmet, but I used to wear earplugs before. Wind noise doesn't seem too bad. I think I have a pretty large oval head and the large fits me fine. The ratchet strap is very nice and easy to use. I wish the padding was a little longer. Overall the helmet is great and I'm satisfied with my purchase. April 29, 2013
Worried about sizing Nolan was recommended by someone I bought a bike from. I decided to go with this helmet because of the flip down sun visor and removable chin guard. I couldn't be happier with this helmet. My head measurement was 1/8" smaller than the recommended head diameter for medium. Went with the medium and it fits perfectly. Just the right fit. It's also very light and quiet. Priced it around and Revzilla was comparable. Got it within two days! Love this helmet! April 29, 2013
Love this helmet! I love this helmet! First ride a couple days after receiving this helmet really put it to the test. Sun,wind, snow and hail were all a part of this initial new helmet experience. Pin lock anti fog system worked perfectly. Cut the wind very well. Didn't work near as hard to keep head in place. Was able to keep temperatures comfortable with vent adjustments and face shield position options. Wore ear plugs so wasn't bothered by any helmet noise. Still looked great after banging it on the outside stairs after first long ride. April 24, 2013
Even better than expected fits and looks great. added a dark/green shield which I like a lot as well. gives it a more bada$$ look but with great vision. only complaint is even though its the n43e and I'm no jay Leno the chinbar is still right against my chin. I can live with it though and the fit and finish definitely make me recommend this hat. absolutely no regrets April 22, 2013
Chinstrap quickrelease is nice too. Only thing I don't like is the internal visor... needs to come down further because its right in my line of sight. Better yet, cut it straight across and don't let it come down quite so far... it would be a sun shade above the line of sight. March 25, 2013
Great versitile helmet, comfortable and great visability.Big bang for the buck! I ordered this after many months of looking at helmets. I found helmet shopping was difficult because of all the choices out there. I wanted a full face helmet but I have used a half helmet for years. I have a HJC flip up modular helmet that I would only wear on cold days. I found this Nolan trilogy to fill the bill for all my wants for a helmet. I went to a local dealer and tried it on and I loved the ratchet system and the helmet fit perfect as I wear an XL. I did feel the helmet looked big on me but it was the same size as my HJC. I also considered the Shark evoline and found a local dealer for that as well and that was a nice helmet too but I did feel that it was bigger than the nolan trilogy look wise. So I finally pulled the trigger on the Nolan and Revzilla as the local dealer would not match the price. Revzilla sent me the Helmet free shipping and best price I could find and It was at my house within the week. I have now tried the Helmet in open face with shield(without Chin guard) and full face configuration (with chin guard and chin curtain)and I love it. The Helmet is good on the freeway as far as aero dynamics no head pulling at 70-80mph. The shield and inside sun shield work perfect and the peripheral vision is great. The only comment I have is about the sun shield design should be just straight across instead of the nose cut out. Other than that the Helmet fits like a glove even wearing my glasses is not a problem. The Helmet really has alot to offer as far as different looks and configurations and it comes with the pinlock system at no extra charge. The helmet is Italian quality all the way the inside is very comfortable and the ractcheting system is very cool and easy to use much better than the double D rings in my opinion very quick to put on and quick to take off. All is great with this choice you get what you pay for and it is worth it! March 18, 2013

I keep finding reviews about the N43 Air from 2010, and I hope that Nolan has made a lot of changes to the N43E, but it doesn't look like they have done much other than bump up the price. Could you confirm the differences?

Answer:
We had both versions of the N43E in our Philadelphia warehouse, so we were able to do a comparison. The only difference between the two is that the Outlaw version has a graphic across the forehead of the helmet instead of Nolan lettering like the solid version.

Answer:
The outlaw version doesn't have the traditional Nolan logos. It still has a logo on the front top, but it is small and very subdued. I think the outlaw version has different color schemes as well.

How many shell sizes does the N43E have? I'm exactly between a small and a medium based on the size chart. I'd prefer the small if the shell is noticibly smaller than the medium.

Answer:
A MD size helmet should be correct based on your measurement. The N43 does tend to fit rather round, so if you have a more oval headshape, then we would recommend starting with a LG instead.
