Nolan N104 Hi Viz Helmet

The Nolan N104 Helmet represents an evolutionary step forward in Nolan's helmet line. The N104 is much lighter (7oz) than previous models and features a lower profile, achieved through the use of multiple shell sizes, better aerodynamics and a much larger viewport for increased visibility. The (patented) chin guard rotation mechanism, with elliptical trajectory, makes it possible to minimize the total size of the helmet's front section when the chin guard is open. The "sail" effect is consequently greatly reduced, increasing rider comfort even when the chin bar is raised. The ultrawide eyeport is the largest of any Nolan helmet, both vertically and laterally, allowing for maximum field of view.

The AIRBOOSTER ventilation system is equipped with an air intake in the chin bar, another intake in the brow, and two exhaust vents at the rear. The inner comfort lining includes removable cheekpads, inner liner, neckroll and chin curtain, all of which are washable as well as antifungal and antibacterial. The redesigned comfort liner also accommodates eyeglasses much more easily than before.

All Nolan N104 helmets are also N-COM B4 ready (N-COM B4 is designed expressly for the N104 and is sold separately).

Shell Features:

  • Injected polycarbonate GE Lexan shell
  • 7oz lighter than the Nolan N103
  • Two Shell engineering allows Nolan N104 to offer sizes from 2XS to 3XL (2XS-LG and XL-3XL)
  • Dimensionally correct sizing allows ample cubic volume in chin/nose area

Faceshield Features:

  • Face shields are now sized to fit the two different shell sizes (2XS-LG and XL-3XL)
  • Ultra wide eye port opening is the largest on any Nolan helmet for superior visibility
  • Shield is changed by a simple push button mechanism
  • Pinlock shield included with each helmet
  • VPS (Vision Protection System); slider bar to lower, push button release for instant retraction
  • VPS lens is scratch and fog resistant

Chin Bar Features:

  • Centromatic chin guard opening mechanism requires dual action, simultaneous action to prevent accidental opening
  • Dual action opening mechanism is positioned in the centre of the chin guard and allows for easy, one-handed opening

  • AIRBOOSTER ventilation system, ensures optimal ventilation where is is most required
  • Air intake in the chin guard draws air in and onto the inside of the faceshield
  • 3 position top vent (closed, crown vent, crown/brow vent)
  • 2 venturi exhaust ports at rear of helmet
  • Plastic vent tube channels in EPS disperse cool air throughout the helmet interior

Inner Liner:

  • Features removable cheek pads, inner liner, neck roll and wind protector
  • The inner padding of the N104 is easily removable and washable and antibacterial
  • The shape of the inner comfort padding facilitates eyeglass wearing
  • Reflective insert at the centre of the roll neck further improves the rider's visibility at night
  • Neck roll can be removed easily, for more comfort in the warmer months

Other Features:

  • N-Com Communication System compatible (sold separately)
  • Features Microlock2 quick-release retention system
  • Microlock2 consists of a plastic ergonomic opening lever, and of a second aluminium toothed and holding lever
  • Microlock2 minimizes the possibility of unintentional opening while still making it ergonomic and easy to use
  • Meets or exceeds D.O.T. standards

Nolan N104 Hi-Viz Helmet 4.5 5 544 544
Excellent helmet, but a bit loud This may be due to the fact that I've never owned a modular helmet, but the N104 is definitely not a quiet helmet. Other than that, you can easily tell it's a quality choice. A bit on the heavy side due to hinges, flip up etc. The look is stellar, airflow is above average. A bit tight on the ears (and I have average to below average sized ears). In general I think it nails its price point but I believe next time I'm going Shoei or Schuberth. November 3, 2015
This Product Is Great So Comfort... So Quiet... Wide Visibility... Pinlock System Is Easy To Use... September 24, 2015
Good helmet with a few small issues The helmet is comfortable but not as quiet as I hoped for. Latch to open is made of thin plastic. It probably will last long but just seems fragile.Features are good .Vents , size of visor, pin lock, interior. Fit is on the tight side. July 27, 2015
Microlock bad, real bad! Finally a helmet that fits but the microlock chin strap is horrible. I wore it for my commute a few times then did a 5000 mile ride. I messed with it all day every day. Pretty good helmet with a log chain for a chin strap! July 4, 2015
Way too tight around jaw. Feels great without the cheek pads.. Build quality-style-ventilation-features-very nice. Cheek pads are too thick and too firm. No smaller replacement available. Check comments on replacement pads- poor fit. June 2, 2015
This Helmet has both amazing style and function I bought this helmet a couple of months ago and still can not express how happy I am with it. The flow of air complemented by the lightweight makes this a perfect helmet for commuting. The added sun visor comes in real handy as well! May 26, 2015
Great product for the price After too many years of removing my glasses, putting on my helmet, and then replacing my glasses I finally have something where I can simply put my helmet on and start riding. May 18, 2015
excited but.. Maybe I'm too hard on the helmet. It maybe just slightly too large now that it is broken in. I love the speed strap instead of the d ring. I love the modular feature. I love that you can get different shields for it, but... I get a lot of buffeting at higher speeds and there is a lot of wind noise. I've never needed ear plugs before and now I had to go out and get them. I got the B4+ for the helmet and like that just fine so all things considered. May 11, 2015

michael a: I needed a new helmet to replace my Nolan N-91...I choose the N-104 because of it superior ventilation over the N-91..and..most importantly..the wife paid the difference between the two...I've also gone to hi-viz gear after wearing a hi-viz jacket for just a brief time...you really do get noticed... Kenneth B: webbikeworld reviews, revzilla videos and reviews, price/value, features, hi-vis
I am looking for a quiet hi-vis helmet for riding long distances. I think the Nolan will fit my headshape.
Jul 17, 2014
C A: Lots of research on modular helmets and this is one of the few came in hi-vis orange.
The kicker was the price match. After that I made the purchase.

Charles D: I belong to 3 motorcycle clubs and everyone gave the N104 rave reviews. You might not see my Hi-Viz jacket and chaps, no way your are not going to see the helmet.

Hi-Viz color is better for everybody else to see me.
Ventilation and included pinlock was also a deciding factor.

Michael M: I love my Nolan 43E but need a flip face helmet for when I'm on and off the bike a lot running around town. It's much easier than taking glasses off when removing a full face. Plus around town Hi-Viz is very advisable. On the road I prefer white, but in town with all the cagers, Hi-Viz is way desirable. Sep 28, 2013
A shopper asked: Is the fit similar to the N100? Apr 22, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
John G: Hi. I had a N100E and the one thing I didn't like was the chin strap was too short. This has a slightly longer strap which is good. Otherwise fit may be a little more oval than long but that is just based on recollection.

Better field of vision and quieter than the 100. I bought this and a Shoie at the se time. Rode in today and have the 104 on.

Com unit is also excellent.

Michael M: Yes, the fit is the same. Follow the sizing guide and you will be fine. It is lighter weight and has better air flow and visibility than the 100. The fit will be tight until it breaks in, but that is normal for all helmets. Remember, head shape is important.

In heavy traffic, I prefer the 44 trilogy because the view port is mammoth. I use the 104 for touring.

A shopper asked: Nolans come highly recommended, and I like the looks/functionality of the N104. While checking out the helmet, I noticed that the HiViz version is priced ~$30 more than every other version of the N104 - is that price difference due only to the color? Or is there some additional feature I am not seeing mentioned which makes it more costly? Thanks! Oct 17, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Michael M: Same helmet except for the paint. Hi Viz helmets are more expensive than plan colors. And we'll worth it to me.

Put a Hi Viz next to a regular yellow helmet and the difference is amazing. That's why safety vests are mandated to be Hi Viz.
