Nolan N-Com B4 Plus Bluetooth Kit for N104/N44/N40 Helmets 4.3 5 18 18
Once you figure everything out the N-Com B4+ system is wonderful First this system is extremely easy to install - it's been well thought out. I did have some issues with understanding programing of this system, but with the help of Joe at Nolan USA most everything has been worked out. I'm still having an issue connecting (via bluetooth) the system to my Smart phone but connecting to my computer using the USB wire is just fine. This allows you to adjust settings such as FM radio stations (great sound). Connecting to my bike to pick up the GPS and XM radio required a wire hookup (for best sound) - helmet ear speakers have excellent sound. The mic's are extremely sensitive so listening to the sound system of my Goldwing only works well with wire hookup. I've had several days so far and the battery life has exceeded 10+ hours using the intercom/XM radio/GPS modes - haven't received and phone calls but it says the phone is connected. December 22, 2014
Not good. Blue tooth doesn't work. Radio works most of the time, but not always. Still fighting with Nolan to fix it. Will have to send my helmet to Nolan with system installed. Whole helmet! Wish I could go back in time and not buy this. December 1, 2014
Intergrates seamlessly Works great. Can be a little more Apple friendly but you can use Siri. There are no directions to do so. I use it for music and Nav and works great. I have used the phone just to test it and it works. I ride alone so havnt used bike to bike. I wish there was a way to remove the boom mic as I rarley use it. November 17, 2014
Quality product not cheap but very effective Excellent audio relatively simple to install especially if you have three hands. Easy quick connection to phone although menu functions are a little complex with many button combinations to remember for full functional control. The best clarity of audio I've found on any like device. September 3, 2014
It takes some getting use to... The included directions are poor at best, so be patient when trying to download the firm ware for the first time. AND yes you must download it! Intsalling the unit was easy and straing forward. Sound is good but don't expect HI-FI head pounding base, but when you stop and think about it having something like that on a bike is just not safe. Once I figured out how to work the unit it has worked for a month with no problems or issues and is used 2hrs a day. Getting my Android phone and Garmin GPS to both bluetooth at the same time was a little tricky to figure out but now works seamlessly. Overall I am happy with the product. August 25, 2014
This is totally awesome! At first I was a little skeptical about how well the Bluetooth system would work. To my amaizment, if is awesome! I can listen to my music and make phone calls with ease. I can also talk to other riders. All I have to do is tell Siri to call someone and if interrupts my music and takes priority. You can set it up how you like but overall, this is the best investment by far for the long bike rides me and my hunny will take. July 28, 2014
Sound Quality is great. Needs work. I recommend this product although it has some hefty contraindications. It needs a lot of work. When I say work, I mean you will have to work on it. Nolan should have polished this before releasing it. It seems like a beta or prototype rather than a finished product. It's saving grace is sound quality and battery life. These were critical features for my application. Pros: The B4+ has excellent sound quality, even if with loud exhausts. Easy to install if you watch the installation video on youtube, takes less than 5 minutes. Battery lasts for hours of blasting music at full volume. Looks great, very stealthy. Cons: Price - almost $300, and this would be fine if the system was perfect. It;s not. Controls feel fragile and flimsy, like the thin plastic layer will rub off or crack over time. I hope I'm wrong. Not Mac compatible (unless you run parallels, vmware, or bootcamp with microsoft windows on your mac then maybe?) Updating firmware is very complicated, and requires a PC that you have to change settings in your bios before you can even install the drivers needed for your computer to recognize the unit! Yes... it is even more complicated than it sounds...It requires watching an instructional video that is in Italian. Just hit pause and try to follow along with what they show you and it will work. After 1.5 months of using the unit, it stopped taking a charge. I googled this and it is apparently a known issue possibly caused by the removable chin guard creating a short. I removed the chin guard, held down all three buttons simultaneously while the usb was plugged in, and voila - it turned on and started to charge. the buttonology is not intuitive. It does not work like "traditional" bluetooth phone/audio devices. I'm still trying to figure it out. Make sure you have your playlist ready, gps destination set (if you need it) and you won't have to struggle while you ride or have to pull over to figure out what buttons to press to get your audio back. There is software and an android app for the b4+ that is also challenged. You can't set your favorite radio stations on either, but the software makes it look like you can, so yeah thats messed up. This unit needs some polishing up, better driver installation instructions (English would be nice for US/AUS/NZ/UK riders). All this said, the B4+ was worth all the effort involved in making it work. Sound quality is perfect, and battery life is great. June 25, 2014
Works as advertised Great sound quality and super easy to install. The initial getting the computer to work with it was a little iffy but that was error on my side so no fault of Nolan. It was a breeze to install in the helmet and it gets great sound quality while riding. Phone calls are clear and sound for music is outstanding. June 23, 2014

Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Michael F: I'm no expert, but I think this is really a question of whether your phone supports multiple bluetooth connections. If it does, than I would think two N-Coms would pose no problem. By the way, this is an excellent com. I love it! Dec 19, 2014

Thomas B: Good Morning
I Have an iPhone and a Black berry, and I can get music from both of the phones into My Nolan 104 with the B4 Kit installed. I also talk to my co-rider using the intercom in the B4 kit.
Being able to use the PC to adjust the mikes and audio levels is very nice. I have not tried to adjust using the Android phone app.

Also the same question for the B1 that is for my wires helmet.

Thomas B: Very Good Question.
The software does not work with the Mac at all.
You have to use a windows softwear only.
Or if you have a non Apple phone. I have heard they have an App for the B4 system

Again thank you for your time. Oct 31, 2014
Michael F: Thomas is correct, no Mac support. I went to the public library and used their PC to set up my radio stations and master volume levels, then just deleted the app when I was done. Dec 19, 2014

Enrique R asked: I have recently ordered a N-Com B4+. I'm waiting to receive it but I have the question how easy is to connect it to a Scalarider device. All my fellow has that brand of device and I bought the Nolan's hoping that will be easy. And other question, to how many Scalarider devices can I connect simoultaneously? Thank you. Aug 25, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Anthony B: Once you have set up the B4+ all you have to do is pair up the scalarider. After that is just a matter of turning it on or off using the menu button on the unit. This turns off the intercom or FM function and puts you in bike to bike mode. Not sure how many you can hook up. Aug 28, 2014

Kenneth T: You should be able to connect up to four other devices, plus a cell phone and one N-Com. The instruction manual is good and their customer service is great. If you send them an email they will get you in touch with a local rep. Aug 29, 2014

Eugene M asked: Is it possible to connect at the same time bluetooth mp3 player for music and separate phone for calls? Jan 21, 2015
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Donald O: Gene, I have an Ncom equipped Nolan helmet, I've never tried to connect two devices, but I doubt that would work. If you have one connected it won't drop one for the other and then reconnect, at least with the Bluetooth devices I have. On my devices, when you turn on a Bluetooth when one is already connected it will say "unavailable" or "out or range" for the one you turned on second.

I do have to say that my smartphone (Samsung Galaxy 5) is a pretty decent mp3 player, and the ability to stream Pandora or similar music program is great. I have to stick with downloaded content when I get out in the country though. This is a nice set up, more convenient than the Scala rider I was using.

Eugene M: Thanks, Donald.
It seems that you're right.

Now i'm using smartphone as mp3 player. But I want to add two-way radio to through Sena SR10 to my bluetooth setup, but i want to keep music too.

I know that phone can be connected through SR10 using Handsfree Bluetooth Profile (HFP).
And music require A2DP bluetooth profile.
So i've thought that it can be combined.

I think i'll borrow bluetooth iPod from my friend and i'll test with my bX4 Jan 21, 2015
Thomas B: Very good question. I have not done that configuration. I have three different unites connected to my N104 two phones one N44 Jan 21, 2015

Is this kit compatible with the N43?
If not, what is the correct one?
Thank you

Chris G: Omar,
I put the B4 Bluetooth kit into the N44 helmet.
I think the earlier model bluetooth kit would be required for the N43.
I don't think the B4 kit is compatible with your Helmet.
Hope this helps.

Gregory C: NO Only an incoming 3.5 connection. I know what you want to do. Use noise cancelling ear buds; to protect your ears and get some half way decent sound. This would be a great system if it had that capability.. May 23, 2014

A shopper asked: what is the difference between the B4 and the B4+ systems? Mar 29, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Kenneth T: According to the Nolan website, the B4+ has DSP noise reduction. That is the only difference that I can find.

The weather had been bad so I have not had a chance to try it on the bike, but the Bluetooth listen/talk phone call quality to my iPhone is excellent. The answering party cannot tell the difference. The streaming audio quality is also good - just not quite as good as high quality ear buds

A S asked: Can this unit also be hooked up via an external wire from the helmet into the OEM hookup for a Goldwing 1800. (Like the original N-Com Basic Kit 2)? Mar 12, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Jedediah K: This NCOM has a 3.5mm input jack, so you should be able to get the audio out of the bike system.

Doing a quick google search also shows some 3.5 to bluetooth adapters that would allow you to use that input without having a wire going up to your helmet.
