Perfect fit and function!
After reading many reviews I was uncertain what to expect, but all other BT units posed some sort of instalation challenge.<br><br>Right out of the package, the systems looks extra small, and also extra fragile, so I took extra time to install it and even when moving as slow as I could, I was finished in less than 15 minutes.<br><br>After that, I was quick to pair my iPhone and try it out, but if you turn off the B4 before starting the music, you won't be able to get it going unless you pair it again and play music from the iphone before turning off the b4. Of course that was clearly indicated in the instruction booklet.<br><br>So, this is a great device, but be prepared to find trouble if you don't read your manual. It has more features and controls than what I expected, and when I hooked it up to my computer, I could set up every feature of the b4 from three easy forms that help you set up audio, volumes, radio stations presets and bluetooth info.<br><br>I must also clarify that the manual expresses everythin in click, 2 second click and 4 second click, but the system has tones that hapen at 1, 2 and 4 seconds, so if you look for the tones intead of counting seconds, you'll hit the function every time.<br><br>Sound clarity and volume are more than adequate and I am extremely happy they do not block external noises, so I can ride with music and still hear everything going on outside.<br><br>Overall, I am very happy I decided to get the B4, and call it luck or just that I was careful, but everything worked perfectly right out of the box.

Great first impression
Installs flawlessly in the helmet. Form, fit and function appears exactly as promised; paired with my cell phone effortlessly. So new I haven't had a chance to try comms to the passenger or another bike, but so far it does everything as advertised. I gave it a 4-star because the Nolan site software you download to program the system is difficult; not intuitive, poor instructions and way behind the state of the art. But it works, eventually, and the hardware actually works very well. Sound quality is good, FM radio reception good, ease of use (discounting the lousy download software) also good. I'm happy with the N-104 helmet and comms system combo; appears the equal of my buddy's Shuberth at 2/3 the price.

doenst work after rainy day????
Hi all,<br><br>I bought this about 3-4 weeks ago, and it worked flawlessly, however now it doesnt after a short ride in the rain!<br>It was about 4 kilometers, max 50km/h...than when I left my helmet in the garage I stored it in its box, so It was a bit moisty when I returned.<br>And when I wanted to start it up, NOTHING HAPPENED!<br>However, I can load it, and it will blink the blue lights, but I still cant turn it on....is this c r a p that cant stand rain????<br><br>this is disappointing because its a great system with cool features...tomorrow I will return to the store and I'll see what will happen.

Really Interesting
I never expected the B4 to be as effective as reported. Very clear sound up to 800+ meters away. Ones paired, automatic connection eliminates the need to ask the either the phone or the B4 to connect each time. Astonishing noise deduction from surrounding wind, from the other rider (Bike to Bike) and while making a phone call.<br>Simple to use controls, you will not feel it in the helmet, you just know it is there.

Great System
Used it for about two weeks. Battery life about 8hrs so far (still under evaluation) Sound quality is very good. Backwards compatible with previous version of N-com. Took about 6 mins to install. Pairing process took less than 20 secs. The helmet and N-com B4 is 700.00 less than the Shuberth system.

Mixed feelings about this product
While I like it's style, ease of use and features, I am very disappointed by the fact that from the very beginning it drops out for when listening to the radio or playing music through the bluetooth connection every so often coming back on after a few seconds. Add to that the fact that 24 hours after riding in a rain storm this unit just dropped dead and won't turn on. If connected to the Nolan wizard it will turn on but won't turn off, and plays the radio only when selecting "radio off" in the wizard. After disconnecting from the wizard the only way to turn it off is to remove the battery. Now I have to deal with some company in Illinois to get it repaired under warranty and it will probably do the same thing after the next rain storm. In retrospect I wish I never bought it. I have only used this product four times since installing it on my helmet. What a let down from Nolan.

Very disappointing
First, it is very easy to install and fits and looks great on the helmet You barely even know it's there. That's about the only good about it. The radio reception is Terrible! I live in the Dallas area so there are plenty of stations to choose from but I can't recieve any that I normally listen to. Out on the road, forget about it. Nothing but static. I paired it with my I-Phone but it's very hard to make a call and I don't seem to be able to recieve a call reliably. My wife tried to call me several times while I was on a day trip last weekend but I never heard the calls. To make a call you have to push the center button for 4 seconds to get your I- phone to let you call a number from your list but if you hold the button for any longer than 4 seconds the N- com shuts off. It's a very fine line and very frustrating. If you have to stop, take out your phone to make your call, what's the need for this device? And the main reason I bought this was to be able to use the phone while riding. This is one of the things in my life that I say," I wish I hadn't wasted the money on this". Don't waste yours.

Chosen because it integrates with the N-104 helmet which I am going to use for long distance travel in Australia and on a three month 'tour' through Western Europe
Purchased from Revzilla on the basis of previous experience of value for money and prompt delivery.

I wanted to be able to use my phone on occasion & also wanted to be able to listen to the radio on cold windy days. This system is somewhat of a disappointment. The electronics are quirky and switching modes is sometimes difficult. Now I cannot access outgoing calls because the "beep" guide keeps jumping around. I miss being able to access AM radio but I knew that limitation going in. The system is not compatible with Apple products so you cannot adjust the system online. Don't recommend this.

My new BMW K1600 features a Blu-tooth enabled audio system. Sadly, the sound is distorted using the N-Com receiver. Still working on a solution.
STACY B on Sep 9, 2013
I chose the NCOM B-4 unit because it is the only one that would fit (properly) on my Nolan N-104 helmet. Trying to adapt a Cardo Scala Rider G9 to the N-104 would have voided my helmet warranty and been a much less elegant installation.

Can Apple Computer users manage the n-com settings?
A shopper on May 11, 2012
BEST ANSWER: Sadly no. The software is windows only. I had to bower a Windows laptop to change the settings. But once you have done that, you shouldn't need to do it again. If you have BootCamp on your Mac with Windows, you should be able to do it. There are not a lot of settings to change, mainly I wanted it to set the FM stations that I wanted. So you can certainly use it without connecting it to a computer, just may have trouble finding the FM station you want.
What is the difference in the Nolan N-Com B4 Plus Bluetooth Kit for N104 helmets and the Nolan N-Com B4 Bluetooth Kit for N104 Helmets. The "Plus" is cheaper, which is confusing. Also, will I be able to communicate with other bikers that don't use a Nolan?
Jim D on Dec 29, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Jim D
I have had the N-Com B4 Bluetooth kit for my N104 helmets for about 2 yrs. They are awesome. It does take a bit of getting used to as far as pushing a button listening fro a beep but once you have it it works great.
The Plus is the newest version of the B4 Kit. It allows you to use an android app to control. I'm going to see if the software upgrade will let me use the app as well.
Spec stated that you can communicate with:
Universal Intercom allows the B4+ to connect with other Intercom systems such as: Midland, Sena, Cardo, and Cellular Line
That is a nice bonus.
Once again great system and i really like that the system is all enclosed withing the helmet.
Nolan is a great helmet.

Hope that helps

Happy Nolan owner Lee
What is the difference between the N-Com B4 And the B4 plus?
A shopper on Jun 27, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I believe the plus adds some voice guidance in the menu and also lets you link with other brands of communicators. You can upgrade your B4 to the plus via a free firmware update from nolan. There is also a handy app you may want to check out for smart phones.
Is there a connection wire to enable connection to my Goldwing to get the bikes features into the headset as well?
A shopper on Jul 25, 2014
BEST ANSWER: There is a headphone type jack that will allow you to plug in an ipod or other audio source, They do sell a patch cable to hook into the goldwing but Revzilla does not seem to carry it.

If you don't need or want the bluetooth and since you would be wired anyway you may want to look at the mcs kit.

http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/nolan-n-com-mcs-ii-complete-kit-goldwing

It will save some money. Although be warned it does not appear that you can upgrade to the bluetooth without replacing the whole thing.
Can it use to NOLAN N44?
A shopper on Aug 30, 2013
BEST ANSWER: As per Nolan's brochure on the new N44, it comes prepared to be used with B4 comm system. Check Nolan's site www.nolan.it
I ride a LOT at speeds of 80+ with a lot of wind noise, and always wear ear plugs; and my biggest complaint with most systems (especially BlueTooth systems) is that they're not LOUD enough. Even the Sena SMH10, which got high ratings and one of its strong points was supposedly volume, I could barely hear on my desert crossing rides. I use an Autocom system with an inline amplifier and that does fine; but once again I'm hoping that this will finally be the system that lets me cut the wires. Is it?
A shopper on Jun 15, 2012
BEST ANSWER: The Nolan N-Com B4 Bluetooth Kit for N104 Helmets provides an excellent volume and sound quality. However the Cardo Scala Rider G9 and the Sena SMH-10 will offer a much higher audio quality.

Also, please note that perceived noise levels will vary depending on the individual. Noise can be caused by many factors, including helmet fit; the type of motorcycle and windscreen; wind speed and direction and even the type of clothing that is being worn.
We have friends that use Scala G4 and want to be able to talk with them while riding.
A shopper on May 14, 2012
BEST ANSWER: Nolan has updated their firmware which gives it a universal communicator that is supposed to function with other brands. I have not tried it yet. The update also gives you an audible menu.
Is it safe to ride with this while it is raining?
A shopper on Mar 25, 2012
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the Nolan N-Com B4 Bluetooth Kit was designed to be waterproof, so you should not have any trouble using it in the rain.
Can the battery be charged from the bike? If yes, during use?
A shopper on Mar 21, 2012
BEST ANSWER: About 8 hours, but that may depend on usage. I bought a USB power port for my bike so that I can charge it while riding. Check out the Tapp Lite USB Power Ports. They make a generic one that will fit on any bike and ones specifically for bikes that have power ports, like those on BMWs. I have a BMW but chose to get the generic one because it was cheaper and had a longer cable so that I could mount it just about any where. The USB cable that comes with the 104B is only about 3 feet long though so you have to mount your power port close enough. I put mine just behind my seat.
Is this kit for one or two helmets. ( Rider only or rider + passenger ) ?
A shopper on Feb 25, 2012
BEST ANSWER: The N-com B4 bluetooth kit supports one helmet. It is backwards compatible with previous N-Com systems.
