Good Overall Product For the price, these are great. I wanted the AeroStich ones but $70 is a little steep. These are definately meant to go over boots... I wanted to put them over my dress shoes for work, so they are a little big. I plan on stitching on some extra velcro on the back so I can snug them up tight over smaller shoes. February 27, 2013
Feet stayed dry in 30" rainy commute They go on pretty easy over size 13 winter boots- it is a good seal around calf also and the grippy sole is helpful at stop lights. Hope they hold up - a good value and product. December 18, 2012
My First Negative Review One postive and one neutral thing first: Postitive: These seem well constructed. The material and fabrication seems good quality. And, they look good. Neutral: There are a lot of rain boot covers made just like this, so lots of people must not think it is a fatal flaw. My problem: I do not like the back / heel part being open. (I did not recognize this condition when I ordered these boot covers.) I do not like this because after many hours of riding in the pouring rain and spray up from the rode, I did get some water intrusion. I do not like this because when I get off the bike I want to be able to walk around and occassionally walk through a puddle without soaking my boots, which open back / heel boot covers do not prevent. BUT THE DEAL KILLER FOR ME is that the first time I put the kickstand down I almost dumped the bike because the mf half sole must have caught on the kickstand and brought it back up. The second time I knew to watch for this so there was no risk of the bike falling over but even being careful the half sole still caught the kickstand and brought it back up. F that! I don't know if it is my stand style or the fit of the boot cover versus my boot size but I cannot believe this style of half sole is so popular. I looked for a long time before I finally found a full sole rain boot (that was not golashes), so I can stomp around in puddles without getting my boots wet and have no fear of catching the kickstand and have good non-slippery full rubber soles. The rubber side comes up about two inches before the zipper and velcro start, so it is just the smallest bit less convenient than simply slipping your boot in from the back. But, the water resistance and safety aspect suit my preferences. I purchased these at the same time I purchased the First Gear Sierra Day Glo Rain Jacket and Pants and I like those products at lot. A good thing to have in your gearbag! I saw the rain ahead and stopped to throw on the rain gear. I was in a bit of a hurry so I forgot to put my rain pants over the boot gaiters. I believe that this was the only reason that my boots got just a bit wet. The full-length velcro in the back can be a bit tricky to get fastened properly, but it does make it really easy to put the gaiter on. Being a universal fit item, the toe pocket is little more roomy than I'd like to have under my shift lever, but hey, my foot is dry! This is a great product to have if you aren't wearing waterproof riding boots and need quick rain protection for your feet. Just remember to put your pants over the tops of them! ;) March 27, 2012
No more wet feet I put these boot covers into practice today. I was riding through heavy rain for 2 hours. They kept me completely dry! I highly recommend these boot cover! February 27, 2012

How durable is the sole of this boot cover?

From the stock photo, this product looks cheap and like it would wear a hole through the sole in short order. However, photos can be quite deceiving. How sturdy is the sole? Would it be good enough to get off the bike to fill up for gas and maybe walk inside the gas station? Or is this an item that should be taken off if getting off the bike and only used while riding? I'm not talking about long walks with these on, just quick stops. I plan on taking a two week bike trip to Newfoundland this summer, and I want something that will keep me dry without falling apart. Thanks.

Answer: 
Depending on how you walk (I.E. if you drag your heels/toes) the boot cover could hold up under very light use thanks to its 1/2 rubber sole. However, we would recommend removing it anytime you are not on the bike, especially if you are concerned about preserving the boot cover.

It is plenty of sole to get off and walk around - NP there w/ quick stops. It is an " overboot" so mine does have some play around my boot/ shoe but walking is OK

We would recommend the size Medium boot cover if you wear a standard size 8US boot.

I'd go with the Medium... I'm about a size 9 - 9.5 (dress shoes/running shoes and boots), and I have a good deal of space.
