The 5.5's are Leatt’s most protective line of chest protectors. The Chest Protector 5.5 Pro HD is the Top Of The Line version of the 5.5 chest protector line. Specifically designed to meet the highest safety approvals for front, back and shoulder impact protection. But they did not stop there. The Pro HD has added Hardshell flank protection lined with 3DF foam. This flank protection overlaps with the front and back plates creating an integrating, multilayer protection area over some of your most vulnerable parts.
Three dimensional design with eight, multi layer, articulating plates, for a great fit. It has also been designed to integrate perfectly with all Leatt neck braces although it works equally well without a neck brace. Exclusive FlipFit front and rear, movable, plates allow your neck brace to fit under the protector. BraceOn strap system attaches the protector to the neck brace yet provides independent movement of body, brace and chest protector. The 5.5 line of protectors are the best fitting, most protective line of hard shell protectors available today.
The back of protector meets the highest back impact CE approval, CE EN 1621-2, Level 2
The front of protector meets the highest front impact CE approval, prEN 1621-3, Level 2
The shoulder protectors are impact tested and CE certified to CE EN 1621-1

Best chest protector ever
I heard these fit small so I bought the xl and glad I did. I am 6'4" tall and 150lbs so i never buy extra large anything but due to my height I did. Thankfully the 5.5 Pro HD is very adjustable so I was able to adjust everything in so the xl fit my thin frame perfect and the extra height in the xl was a must. It is extremely comfortable and I have never felt safer. Makes all other roost or chest protectors look like a terd. Love it, money well spent.

Best Rib Protection On The Market!
Leatt Pro 5.5 HD Chest Protector has the best Rib protection on the market. I tried a lot of different full body armor style uppers and other chest protectors but none have good or any rib protection. They might say they do but a little piece of rubber or a strap that goes over your rib area does not count. The only negatives and they are small. I think the shoulder pad adjustments should just be mounted off the main shoulder strap and the back protector could be made longer.

Exactly what I've been looking for (almost)
I recently had a pretty high speed crash wearing a Leatt Adventure Lite chest protector. The product did fine, but I think my elbow broke some of my ribs (well, something did, lol). So, I wanted something that would protect my ribs more, and this came out. It's exactly what I was looking for.
Yes, it is a little odd putting your arms down at your side, but I for one ride with my arms out in front of me, so that's ok!
The 5.5 Pro has plenty of protection all around and is VERY adjustable. Fits great! I moved the shoulder protectors so they sit slightly forward, that way they'll hopefully be in just the right place should I ever need them (assuming I'd be traveling in a forward direction) I think this is the product I was looking for for a long time. Thumbs up!

Jeff P: I need some rib protection after breaking some earlier this year and some additional airflow for the hot summer. Plus, it should work well with my neck leatt neck brace. My existing pressure suit fails in all of those areas and is better for temperatures under 90 degrees. I'm hoping this works out for my intended purpose. I purchased some separate elbow pads and a kidney belt to create a system similar to my pressure suit.Jul 29, 2014
Dan F: I've been looking at chest protectors for several months and was continually reading about post crash riders complaints of rib injuries. I was impressed by the wrap around coverage of the Pro 5.5,May 10, 2014

Sangjoon K asked:What kind of Rib protection this product offers?
I am comparing this with Troy Lee CP5955, chest protector with plastic hard rib guard. If you have any experience with this product, comparison would be ideal.
My main question is what sort of protection this product offers? Hard plastic? or Soft?
Also, do you know any decent kidney belt that can go with it?
Rob B:What I love about this chest protector is that everything is adjustable. I probably spent a good half hour dialing it in to fit me just right. It's like it was taylor made for me, that's how nice it fits. All the hard plastic plates are cushioned/padded and adjust in a multitude of ways to conform to your body.
Protection is the best I've ever experenced and the reason I went for Leatt Pro 5.5. Rib, shoulder, back, arm and chest protection is as good as it gets. I am totally satisfied with this product.
As for kidney belts, I'm still wearing a Thor series 200 which is long overdue for replacement. But it's been good to me and I like it a lot. Now that you mention it, maybe I'll put one on my Christmas wish list.Oct 17, 2014
darren s:I havn't tried a lot of other brands, but tried to find the best protection i could find by reading reviews and advertisements. It is very solid plastic that overlays in layers and is very adjustable. I love it. I have seen some other brands since, but none better. It is designed to fit with their neck brace too but i don't have one. Anyway...it is well made and gives serious protection. I'm getting old and that's what I needed. I've already taken some pretty good spills with it. I especially like the side rib protection. Buy it. Wear it. The Tricep pads fit under my fox pro elbow guards for extra protection. Oct 17, 2014
Dan F:No iin my opinion it would not be possible to wear the adventure body suit under or over the 5.5. The redundant layer would shift around on top of the first layer and actually reduce mobility. It would also cause interference with the Leatt neck brace in my opinion. I have however added a kidney belt beneath the Leatt 5.5 for some additional support and the 2 work well together. Jul 4, 2014
