Couldn't even fit the helmet on my head
I was stoked to find this helmet on revzilla.com. It has amazing features and was on sale at a ridiculously low price compared to similar helmets. I measured on myself a 61cm head circumference, so went with the XL according to revzilla's size chart. I unpack it and try to put it on for the first time. The head opening is tiny! It DOES NOT fit on my head. I manage to flare out the sides and scrape it past my ears, but they are still folded up inside the helmet. There is absolutely no way it would be comfortable. Very disappointed, immediate return. I'll have to get a new helmet in a brick and mortar location.

Great helmet!
I received the Lazer Monaco pure glass in white. Love the look of this helmet, the Lumino photochromatic face shield is an excellent feature to have. I also like that it's lightweight can help out with decreased neck fatigue. Airflow is great but the helmet is noisy. I ordered a large which is my normal size. First time I tried the helmet on I managed to squeeze my head through the narrow neck opening without lifting the modular face portion, went to take it off the same way and couldn't pull it off my head. my mistake. I found it to be tight getting the helmet on and off but once it's on, it's very comfortable. I definitely would recommend this helmet to anyone looking to get a good modular at a decent price. note I also ride a 09 gsxr 750 with this helmet

Combine the lumino face shield, light weight and ventilation this helmet is a great choice for the money.
Benefits: Lumino Photochromic Pinlock face shield a definite plus for me. I reside in Arizona and have a east west trip to work everyday so this was a definite plus for me. I researched the Transition wondering if it would be affected by temperature and found that temperature will play a part in speed of transition from light to dark. The transition was smooth and helpful for daylight riding and around sunset I didn't notice the transition change it was subtle, what I did notice was the lack of squinting my eyes were doing. I have yet to ride at night with this shield but close to it.. I found the shape and design of the shell to be great against wind turbulence. I often pass large trucks and my old helmet always made me feel a little like a bobble head. The interior has proven to do as promised, wicking away moisture for a comfortable ride. Ventilation is effective and can be felt, along the sides, and top as promised. A plus again with the Arizona heat we have here. My field of vision was wide and I could easily see traffic to the side and in front.
Placing this helmet on my head I admit did feel strange at first. I was pleased with the light weight but it took some getting use to, especially after wearing past helmets that were no where near as light. The interior was comfortable and the only complaint for me was that the chin bar was a little close to my face when closed. That took some getting use to however the Chin bar was easy to open one handed with my glove on.

I am going to be adding a third party bluetooth with this helmet, the one made for this helmet (helmet is prewired) had not done as well as I would hope on the reviews, so after asking questions on some options I was considering. I was given some excellent feedback, and decided I will be using the Sena SMH10-R I will write a review about that later, and my experience when I install it. The pre made cut out of the Lazer for the link system should accommodate the battery pack for the Sena perfectly based on what I saw on the helpful videos on this site.
The chin curtain seemed adequate but a little small, and I didn't see any options for a larger one. So we will see how it is come winter.
I like the reflective zones on this helmet and when it became dark and overcast on the way home I was glad there was a little more to see. I will be registering my helmet online to get the full 5 year warranty soon.

It's an all around winner
After watching the Lazer Monaco video a dozen times and having it on my wishlist, it went on sale and within my price point. It replaced a Scorpion 700 helmet with a drop down visor.
My first impression was that it fits tight. Really tight even after using the sizing chart. So I removed the ear pads and bought the medium morpho check pads with my revzilla cash. Now it is a perfect fit. The helmet is light, solid, comfortable and stylish. The photochromic lens is perfect for Seattle weather since it can change in an instant. It's an all around winner.

Great value.
I am very pleased with the finish and features. This gave me the relatively light weight I wanted in a flip-front helmet. The photochromatic shield works very well, including turning back to clear quickly.
I found I needed a larger size than the head-measurement technique would indicate, both for width and for my head to seat fully to the top, but this could just be because each head is differently shaped (or, maybe, just mine is different).
This is not the quietest helmet, but the weight tradeoff works for me; noticably less neck fatique than my old helmet. The tight fit over the ears does ameliorate wind noise, but it is noticable if you turn your head and create enough of a gap for the noise to chanel into the ear area. Plus, that was mostly a test, and I almost always ride with foam ear plugs, which will render the noise issue moot.
I feel this helmet was an excellent value, would buy it again, and still cannot justify spending the extra $150 for the slightly lighter carbon fiber even though I love that look.
_=o%o>_

For the $ its a great product
After a quick return to get the correct size all is good. Sat around for an hour in the house with it on. It was warm in the house but out on the road it was nice. Will take some time getting use to full face vs a 3/4. Overall a great upgrade.

Great Bang for the Buck
Purchased this helmet first in a Sz Large, received it and was just way to tight even after compressing the inner pads. Sent it back and ordered a XL, fits perfect. Love the transitions visor and the pin-lock. Great looks and light weight also.

light weight, comfortable, amazing airflow, excellent helmet
I have used this helmet for 8,000 miles and is my go to helmet now. Ridden in temp ranges of 28-102 degree's F comfortably. it's light weight, so neck pain good bye after all day rides. photocromic lens is sweet, and great for day or night rides. pin-lock works flawlessly and is a great addition- no fogging. Helmet is slightly noisy due to air pouring into the helmet. Ventilation is the best I have ever experienced. Bluetooth communications is easy to set up. This helmet has all the things your looking for in a helmet. Bang for your buck can't beat it! Pull the trigger and buy it, you'll be happy with it.

My wife only rides once in a while and not for a long ride, this helmet had the options she wanted and at the closeout price just seemed like the right choice. She is happy with it and I feel a little better that she is wearing one with a little more protection than the sckull cap she likes to use.

It's one of this lightest modular helmets on the market. I also liked the auto tint face shield. It's was only 3oz heavier than its carbon fiber brother which is the lightest modular but over $100 less expensive.
Andrew H on Apr 5, 2015
Best modular, very well made and oh so lite. On sale full carbon is the best, but this one is only heavier by an oz or 2

I like the reviews. Also not completely happy with my current helmet, which get buffeted quite a bit at highway speeds due possibly to a squared off back that is intended to improve ventilation. Hoping this will be more streamlined. My first LaZer product.

Really wish that the hi-vis version was going out but for the weight and quality I decided to go with the Monaco anyways and will just add some hi-vis material to it.
Morgan S on Jul 25, 2014
Lightness, the modular system is unique(articulates all the way to the back of the head) and the visor has pinlock+photochromatic, looks good and more like a touring not racing too.
Diego G on Jul 18, 2014
The reviews, and the Revzilla video of the helmet sold me, and it has been a great helmet for me!
Jeff L on Jun 16, 2014
Features for price, plain and simple. It isn't as refined and quiet as a C3 or Neotec, but I'll take it's photochromic face shield over a flip down visor any day. I can't say enough good things about the shield. The Monaco is solidly built, good looking, VERY light (even the glass version, though not as light as the carbon of course), and a great value.
02Klausrider on May 20, 2014
I chose this this helmet for the intermediate oval fitment and based on reviews of this helmet I have read. Beyond fitment the main points were light weight, tinted visor, variable cheek and comfort liner (you can purchase alternative liners in other sizes), and reviews I have read indicating that the ventilation was well above average. I am a touring bike rider and comfort and good fit of my helmet are critical to enjoying the ride.

Cheers
Kevin

Great line, the transitions visor rules. The fact that lazer uses only one shell size makes me think that it'll be a little snug for big heads like mine.

Wanted to try a modular helmet and liked the look and light weight of the Monaco. The addition of the photo-chromatic visor made my choice easy!
Charles S on Sep 18, 2013
I wanted to stay with a modular helmet, but my current helmet was too heavy and giving me neck aches every time I rode. This helmet was the lightest weight modular on the market.
Anita M on Sep 9, 2013
Great helmet and functionality, but just not right for my head shape ( reg. oval ).

However I don't like that there's only 1 shell size.
Brenden C on Sep 4, 2013
Chose this helmet due to the price point as well as the lumina shield with pin lock. I live in Arizona so I also like the light aerodynamic feature and the ventilation. Watch the videos on this helmet and you will get what I mean. Chose the color for ease of care. Matte black is difficult to clean. All in all it has a desirable feature set , light weight, aerodynamic, with great visibility and air flow.
Tracy M on Aug 20, 2013
After lots of research and humming and haaing I thought this would give me the best bang for the buck. The pinlock, photochromatic lens, finish and reviews are what swung me. I'll have to see if I made the right choice after putting some miles under it. I'm a daily commuter in the Pacific NW so all of these features really fit the bill.

What certification does the Monaco have, ece? dot?
A shopper on Dec 4, 2012
BEST ANSWER: This helmet is DOT rated with a DOT sticker. While the LaZer helmets sold by RevZilla technically pass the ECE certification, they do not include an ECE certification sticker.
How well does the Monaco work in the rain? I have a Lazer Revolution and it leaks terribly around the visor. Does the Monaco leak as well? I expect to ride in lots of rain!
John A on May 18, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I've had the Monaco for about 18,000 miles of riding in all weather. I've only had water get in when i left the top vent open in down pours. Light rain no issue's. I bought the rain blockers for the vent and never needed them. No leaks around the visor unless opened for air. The pinlock visor works awesome. No fogging. Overall it's a great helmet.
Is this helmet safer then a 3/4 helmet with CHIN IMPACT?
A shopper on Nov 7, 2013
BEST ANSWER: There has been a ton of debate over this topic. In my humble opinion, modular helmets will offer a safety advantage over a 3/4 helmet for chin impacts just as a full face will perform better than a modular with the same impact. I read all the reviews and watched all the videos on this helmet before purchase and it was the correct fit for me feature wise. I'd wear this or a full face over a 3/4 any day. It's also one of the best helmets I have ever owned.
The lens will change dark under the sun?
Simon L on Feb 27, 2015
BEST ANSWER: My wife's helmet, but she says it works pretty well - no flip down sunshade or sunglasses needed. Watch out when you go into a tunnel, though. It doesn't change back that fast!
will sena 20s bluetooth set work good with this helment?
Daniel L on Dec 30, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Yes I works good bu I don't recomend using the boom mic, I use the wired mic. The boom tends to get in the way with flipping the face up and gets pushed away when flipping the lface back down.
Hi ! This will be first premium helmet. I measured my head size and the tape shows 56.2 cms, that's border line between MD and LG size.
In the reviews many people have opted to go 1 size up. Which size should i go for? I will be USA for just 1.5 weeks and would like to use this opportunity to buy this helmet.
Goutham S on Sep 22, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I've had 2 Monacos, both in large(58cm). The first one was snug but comfortable( the way it should fit) and lightest I've owned. The second is also snug but tighter on my cheeks w/c makes it uncomfortable (oddly the heaviest I've owned) inconsistency in quality?. I am confident it will break-in, but the weight difference? I love the transition visor (but wish there's a drop down visor aswell) beware, on a misty overcast ride when I went in a tunnel I had to open my visor cause I could barely see the bike tailights ahead of me. Base on the first Monaco I highly recommend, but definitely no on the second. If you can try them on for size is good, but if you can't then it's risky. I suggest other brand w/ drop down visors is the way to go. Shoei, HJC....
Since there is only one she'll size, is there any difference between installing large cheekpads in a medium helmet vs. Ordering a large helmet?
Brenden C on Aug 31, 2013
BEST ANSWER: This helmet runs a size too small. If you normally use a medium, you will need to order at large. The cheek pads are abnormally tight. Also, you need to take out the ear pad hole fillers because they push on the ears uncomfortably.
I like the helmet, but it took 2 tries to get the fit right. Love the auto tinting shield.
How does the face shield react at night with the head on traffic head lights? Does it auto tint as well?
A shopper on Mar 26, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The tinting quickly becomes ubiquitous. If it tints at night, you wont notice a difference, much like when it tints fully in sun versus partially in shade. I've worn it cross country a few times, and didn't need sunglasses in the brightest deserts, or have any particular glare problems driving through major metropolitan areas at night.

Dead bugs will impact the tint on the visor below, but it will adjust a few minutes after you scrape them off.
I have this helmet. This is my first flip-up. I wasn't sure of what part to grab to shut it, so I opened the face shiled and pulled down on the chin bar, which unfortunately broke the breath guard. I thought, no big deal, I can replace it, right? Well, it does not seem to be removable, and I actually broke the connecting points forcing it out. Apparently Revzilla sells replacements, so I am perplexed about the supposed ability to remove it. Please shed some light on this. Thanks.
William E on Jan 27, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Dan from Revzilla emailed me and explained that the breach guard tabs are glued into the holes. He offerred a replacement breath guard, but that is not an option due to the broken off tabs being glued into the holes. Hopefully I will find that the pinlock insert renders it irrelevant. Overall I like the helmet. Flip-up newbs, don't make my mistake.
hi, with this helmet,, when putting sena 20s on will the clap work or do you have to velco it on also does the neck cushion move out of way for wireing ?
Daniel L on Jan 11, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Hi:
Sena 20 attaches with an adhesive pad that is included with the product. Wiring is straight forward without any obstacles.
