Nice Pants, Look good/ Waist fit to normal jean size.
I normally wear a 34 pant, 5'8" tall, 168lbs, true inseam of 29.5". Pants look and feel great,They're a little long, but will work. I bought knee armor pads as well, and this is where my disappointment begins. The Pockets for knee pads do not adjust and when standing, the pads fall down below my knee...totally useless. So while they are well made pants, if you're looking for armor protection, might want to look elsewhere. Can't believe Klim hasn't heard this before and figure out a better way. Love the pants, hate the design for adding armor.

Odd sizing, great value and style
Fit:
I normally wear size 34 waist, "relaxed fit" pants. Looked at the Klim size chart and it appeared that their waist size is true to size, so I ordered a 34. Started to pull up the pants and was concerned that I got the wrong size. I've got big, 27" circumference cyclist quads. These pants are definitely snug between the knee and waist, at least on me. Not painfully tight, just a little tighter than I like. I can see how the tight fit may hinder air flow a bit. I was expecting the fit to be pretty baggy like my other moto pants. The waist sizing is indeed spot on, with velcro waist adjusters on both flanks. Length is good for me too, I'm 6' tall. No dragging material at my ankles. In summary, sizing is odd. True waist and length, but snug thigh zone.

Protection:
No knee or hip pads? Come on Klim, these aren't moto cross-specific pants. Most would classify these as ADV pants, where road jaunts require some protection. I purchased Klim's D30 hip pad inserts to go with my pants. They fit right in to the pockets but are not very secure. Hip pad pockets need closures of some kind, velcro or a snap. At least they won't fall out with closures, as my pads fall out when I turn the pants upside down. Knee pad pockets are also lower than they should be, with VERY small openings to get your pads inside. I may get knee braces because I don't see my knee pads doing much in a crash. Otherwise, the pants look very sturdy. Nice leather panels on the inside of the legs and tough textiles throughout.

Air Flow:
This is what you bought these pants for, right? Airflow is good, certainly better than my goretex rain pants. 16" zippers on the front of the quad and openings on the back of the calf. I get good flow just walking around in them. Sitting on the bike I don't feel much because the vents are parallel to the ground, when I stand it's more effective. The snugness on my quads hinders the airflow somewhat, so folks with smaller quads may experience better flow.

Value:
A Klim product for $210 that's not a shirt or gloves? What's the catch? Oh, there's no knee or hip pads. Otherwise, you get a lot for your money. Great style, protection, air flow, and a great name brand. Would recommend.

solid quality
Great pants. Had for a few months now. Rode below freezing few days ago. The solid construction stops the cold wind. My legs were not cold. When hot out, legs can get hot although there is one large zip vent on each thigh that works well. (can easily feel the air coming in the open vent)

1 Negative. Bottom of pants only have velcro closure and no sort of clasp or locking loop. Eventually velcro starts to lose its stickiness after dust and dirt etc. I foresee this part of the pant to fail first.

These are not an off road pant!
I ordered these expecting a high quality warm weather over the boot pant for off road use. What I received was more of an on road asphalt abrasion resistant pant. there is plenty of room under them for knee pads and my boots. Off road pants need pretty much zero abrasion resistance and i expected a lighter weight high quality OFF-ROAD pant. These are not an off road weight pant. Get these if you ride your BMW, down asphalt and gravel roads. Do not get them if you ride mx or supercross, aggressive singletrack or in real hot weather off road.

KLIM in general
Are you sick of Hollister sized riding clothes? Are you sick of riding clothes that last 5 rides? Are you sick of buying other name brand riding gear and seeing how cheap they are made? Yeah, me too. Buy KLIM, it may be more, but it is what riding gear today should be, look like, feel like. Zippers that last, fitment that is actual, protection and ruggedness. KLIM is doing a lot right with all their clothes.

Another great Klim product
I have purchased Klim products in the past. My biggest worry with the purchase of the Dakar pant was sizing. I know the product would be of typical Klim quality, but fitment was in question. I am 6' and 215 lbs. I wear a pant size of 36 or 38, depending on brand. Reading reviews, I was concerned that I would order the wrong size. I currently own Klim Overland pants, which I purchased in size 36. To be honest, they are a little tight in the waist. Ideally I would have bought the 38. So, with the Dakar purchase, I decided on the 38, even though some reviews stated that they are made oversized. I am very glad I made the decision. The fit is perfect. Yes they are baggy in the thigh, but they are offroad pants. Definitely not overly baggy, as one review stated. The Velcro waist adjusters have room to expand, and room to tighten. The length of the 38 is perfect, too. I am very pleased with the purchase! And, typical Revzilla delivery time - Extremely Rapid! Thanks!

Does the job, looks good
I shopped around for awhile and finally decided on these after the pants I ordered first were discontinued. They come well rated by the adventure riding community, and for good reason. They're well built, surprisingly comfortable, and strike a good balance between insulating and cooling with the adjustable vents.

I rode them once in light rain to see how they did with water. The inside liners were wet when I got home, but I couldn't tell until I took the pants off. A good waterproof spray might keep the water out entirely, but so far I'm impressed.

Then I took them for a 80 mile desert ride through rocks, sand, washes, technical hills and long stretches. Great airflow when standing if you're moving at all. Not terribly hot when you're working hard(compared to full mx boots, they're a breeze)

I'm a little concerned that the OTB design will wear away at the rub points that contact with the frame of the bike, but there's leather there to help out last longer.

I like them. I'm keeping them. I'd probably get them again.

I've always liked the Dakar pants
I have the previous model and have been very happy with them. Tough pants. These fit a bit differently, a bit slimmer, I've not used my old pair as overpants, but I probably could. This pair doesn't have the room.

The old model had thin armor at the hips and knees. These don't, but it's not a problem for me since I needed to buy some better knee armor anyways.

I bought the regular length this time and they're plenty long.

If you are looking for dual sport pants with a big emphasis on dirt, I don't think there is anything out there better (especially for the price)

These pants are very functional and well made. Zipper and stitiching are quality.
I work on my motorcycle and these Klim pants are exactly what I needed for a variety of conditions. I have a 32" waist and stand 5'11". When I replace these I would probably get the longer inseam, but the regular inseam is fine. I wear bicycle shorts underneath and the pants are very comfortable. They don't come with armor, but the abrasion protection appears adequate. I am discerning about moto gear and I like this product.

Before choosing these pants have read a lot of rave reviews.
But the decisive was the meeting with Moto hobo my old friend. It was only at the same gray. Delight knew no bounds, it will only upset the color it was not practical.
At his suggestion, took a black. I come, I hope a long motorcycle journey will come back I'll write these pants)))
Good luck in the new year.

Can these pants be used for cold weather riding as well? Say 20-30F? I would like to save a little $$ by buying one pair of pants. I was thinking that I could use over fleece pant but didn't know if they were fully vented or not. Thanks.
A shopper on Jan 17, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Remember the rule of thumb is to subtract 20 degrees from the ambient temperature to equate passing through the air on a bike - your 20 - 30F becomes 0 - 10F.

I ride in Colorado and Utah (week long adventure rides with camping when I can) where the temps can change quite a bit throughout the day and night. Given my budget range (no $600 pants for me) the Klim Dakar pants have been great but there are limits. Alternating between athletic type briefs for the warmer days and a pair of mid weight thermals for cooler weather has helped to extend the Dakars usable range. When I do ride in 20 degree weather what I've got on top has more to do with my overall warmth then the pants - the liner in my Tourmaster plus a heavy weight thermal and a balaclava under the helmet really helps to keep my heat in.

I have had some long, very cold rides heading back home on the slab after a week in the woods, at pace for many hours nothing I have is keeping me warm enough.

Semi technical trail riding from camp site to camp site over the course of a number of days (in cold weather) the Klims have been good as long as I've got the thermals underneath.

The main vents have long zippers so regulating heat/air flow is pretty easy. The stretch panels on the inner thighs will let a certain amount of air migrate through, you have no control over them. That being said it's a relatively small surface area and the articulation/flexibility of the panels really adds to the pants comfort.

Good luck and happy riding!
Can you please put up a video for this pant, Along with which brand - CE knee guard can be used along or fits well ?
A shopper on Oct 13, 2013
BEST ANSWER: I'd suggest you wear armor that attaches more directly to you than rides in the pants for these. They are a loose cut, intended to go over protective gear or knee braces. That loose fit makes them comfortable, you can get air circulating, and get them over armor - but will allow any knee armor to shift easily away from where you're trying to protect in the event of a fall.

Under these I wear the Forcefield Zeus knee armor, and quite like them. Though there's lots of other options for armor that is worn more directly on the body. If you expect to be in an area with a lot of rocks, like desert west or mountains vs. more muddy/woods terrain you might focus on armor with a hard exterior layer to help deflect any falls on pointy rocks vs. the softer stuff like Forcefield makes.

But as an aside, the Zeus knee armor works well. I put it to the test at Cornerspin when I went down hard at one point.
Can I order a size up (40) and hope to be able to wear jeans under them?
Matthew H on May 22, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I'm sure its possible however I don't feel that it will very comfortable. You will still have to take your boots off to get the pants off. The pants are oversize as they allow room for knee braces. They are very comfortable with using Alpinestar liners or Under Armour liners. The styling allows you to be comfortable while lounging around with an adult beverage. I just finished a 3 week trip in mainland Mexico using the Klim Mojave Pants, the vented version of Dakar Pants. 5300 miles of asphalt and dirt speeds up to 110 miles, sea level to 10000 feet, temperature was 55-95 degrees. I was very comfortable the entire time, 2 of the other 3 riders wore the same pants. We were riding KTM 950/990. Cheers Mark
Does the "standard" (over the boot) version have wide enough legs to fit over motocross boots, or only lighter road boots? Are they fairly resistant to wearing through where boot uppers contact the frame, or do the heat shields protect well against that?
A shopper on Feb 7, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I wear them over SIDI Discovery boots with the shin plate ripped off!!! They do pretty good..I added more Velcro in the leg flap to keep them snug... As far as wear spots ..depends on the bike and what your grippin with your legs!!! Very impressed with how well they are made...
Is there a side zipper on the over the boot style that goes high enough to allow you to remove the pants without taking your boots off? (I know these aren't over pants but I sometime where light shorts under)
A shopper on Mar 12, 2015
BEST ANSWER: There's Velcro on the inside. It goes up to about top of your calf. I still have to remove my riding boots to take off pants. I also wear a size 14 boot. That might make a difference. I love the pants though.
Can these be worn under the boot???
A shopper on Sep 25, 2013
BEST ANSWER: I don't. Why would you? If you want in the boots pants save yourself a few bucks and order the in the boot Dakars.
Whats the best way to wash these? I have a cat--that wont be around for too much longer--that peed on mine and I want to wash them (even though most of the liquid beaded up and off...)
Andy A on Dec 27, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Use some Natures Miracle stain & odor remover or Zero Odor pet stain remove on them Spray it let it soak in then wash them in some luke warm water on a gentle cycle with a gentle detergent. Gentle Spin cycle them let them hang to dry or use a dryer on a low heat. Hope this helps. We have 4 cats and have use the above products with great results
Are the suitable for road rides? Abbrasion resistance level given I ride my GS via highways at 100kph+ for extended distances before going 'off road'?
A shopper on Jan 25, 2016
BEST ANSWER: These are suitable for road/off-road riding. The soft jointed sections breathe well if it's warm but this also lets in rain and water from large puddles and stream crossings.
Which is better for warm weather sport touring riding: The Klim Dakar or the Olympia Airglide 3?

BEST ANSWER: I have never used the Olympia but have the Klim Dakar. First get the light color ones. They are a lot cooler than I first thought with lots of air flow. I live in South Africa so it gets hot here and I find them comfortable and cool.
Can these be worn over jeans?

BEST ANSWER: Not really, they are pretty much regular pants, not over-pants...
