KBC VR4R US Olympic Replica Carbon Helmet 4 5 3 3

Not for aggressive tuck postions This is a product I was eager to get. For the points is got right, the helmet looks fantastic and is very light. The D-rings and everything are simple. I recognize this is a bargain helmet for being carbon fiber. It is evident with my Bell helmet having better fit and finish and apparent durability for less than half the price. The reason though why I give this product a a low rating has to do 100% with the visor. Every helmet I have ever owned has been optically correct, meaning that no matter what part you look out of it, your vision is not distorted. Well, KBC decided to engineer this (or maybe all) helmet with a method of sealing the top of the visor to the helmet in the down closed position by curving the visor back towards the helmet. If you ride a cruiser/touring or a naked bike withe more upright position, this really wont affect you. However, if you ride in a full tuck position and are looking through the top of the visor, your vision is severely distorted with the line of the crease right where you're looking. It's a large annoyance during the day, and absolutely dangerous at night with how headlights are viewed. I would have returned the helmet and spent more for another had I noticed this sooner. Great looking light weight helmet! The Revzilla video on this helmet was spot on. The only thing I could add is how great this helmet looks, indoors the helmet looked good, once its out in the sun it looks awesome the carbon fiber really shows. Helmet runs small, I usually wear a XL, in this helmet I wear a XXL. June 18, 2012

Simply Superb I had been shopping around for sometime before i chanced upon this beauty at Revzilla. I wanted a helmet that was gonna protect my melon well, was durable, looked fantastic and at the same time did not cost an arm and a leg. This fits right into that bracket. I just love the look and feel. It looks like its made to last and help me last longer. Its way lighter than my current helmet and most of the helmets I've seen. I have to mention one last thing that made this purchase worthwhile - The customer service at Revzilla!! They are a true example of going the extra mile for you... Jason from your team was simply a pleasure to deal with. i am definitely a Revzilla follower. January 9, 2012

Answer:

The KBC VR4R vents well when compared to most helmets. However, we have yet to find a helmet that offers more ventilation than the Bell RS-1. With so many vents (two at the brow, four at the chin, two on the top of the head and 4 extractors) it moves a ton of air (at the expense of higher noise levels). The KBC VR4R Carbon may not move quite as much air, but will be quieter than the Bell RS-1.

I'm at a toss up between this and the Nexx XR1R. I want this helmet due to the styling, graphics, and price but for some reason the shell looks absolutely HUGE compared to the Nexx. I really want this helmet but if the shell makes me look like some big headed freak then I'm going to have to settle with the Nexx. How big is this shell compared to the Nexx XR1R?

We just had someone measure these in person and the KBC VR4R and Nexx XR1R offer the exact same shell size from any angle.

.....and neither was it listed on Snell's official site. If this is in fact M2010 this would be my helmet of choice since most likely our club will require a M2010 for the next race season.
