Kaoko Throttle Lock Triumph Tiger 800 / Explorer 1200 / Street Triple Videos

Kaoko Throttle Lock Triumph Tiger 800 / 800XC / Explorer 1200 / XC / Street Triple / R

The Kaoko Cruise Control is perfect for anyone looking to reduce fatigue and strain on your hand and wrist during long distance highway riding.

Each Throttle Lock consists of a simple, ingenious and robustly designed friction nut that is integrated with a special Kaoko bar end weight. The Kaoko bar end weight is closely matched in appearance and weight to the Original Equipment Manufacturer's (OEM) bar end weight.

The Friction Nut has a left-hand thread. It must be adjusted so that it makes light contact with the rubber throttle sleeve.

The Grub Screw is set to provide the necessary resistance on the friction nut. This may be adjusted periodically to take up wear.

To Engage: Twist the throttle and friction nut simultaneously with your right hand. This action tightens the nut and provides sufficient friction to set throttle to the desired position. The friction nut is designed that the rider may still open and close the throttle.

To Disengage: Roll off the throttle while gripping the friction nut. The throttle should open and snap closed freely.

Type A: For Tiger 800/XC With OEM Handguards

Works perfectly
High quality, easy to use. Looks like it was made for the bike. Pushes up against the grip and locks the throttle. Nice just to relax the wrist for awhile.

Must have for long distance riding
I just got back from a 4,600+ mile trip over a two week period. This was the first time I really used the throttle lock, and it made a huge difference.

The first day of the trip I didn't really make use of Kaoko and I felt it in my right hand that night after doing just over 500 miles. From the second day on I made full use of the throttle lock, and it made a huge difference.

Long miles are tiring and anything you can do to reduce fatigue helps, and this device absolutely helps with reducing the fatigue on your right hand.

It would be nice to have real cruise control, but that's not a real option for my current bike, so this is the next best thing.

Installs easy. Works as advertised.
Easy to install. Looks good on the bike.
I prefer to use it a little different than the instructions. I like to tighten it down and then set the throttle where I want it as opposed to turning it with the throttle to get it locked in. It is just really hard to hit the tension at the right spot like that. Particularly on anything less than perfect roads.

Well made, works great
I'm using it on a 2013 Triumph Tiger 800. It literally took 3 minutes to install. You simply take the old screw out and put this in (use a dab of loctite on the threads of the Kaoko bolt) and tighten... done. It looks great too. The knurls are for your glove material to grab from the edge of your little finger. You can roll the lock on or off. The Throttlemeister on my 94 R1100RS is smooth and sometimes I have to move my whole hand onto it to roll it on or off if that makes sense.
The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is price. I suppose we're paying for the word KAOKO embedded into the lock. Either way it's better than any other lock I've ever used. ALl future bikes will get one if KAOKO makes it!

Why didn't I buy this sooner?
Incredibly easy to fit. You don't notice it's there when you don't need it. On longer trips it reduces fatigue in your hand and allows you to stretch your upper body more easily. Simple to engage and disengage.

Works as advertised. Easy install, easy to use, and barely noticeable when not needed. Obviously this isn't a true cruise control replacement, but over long stretches of road it gives you the ability to relax your right hand without having to clutch with left, shift to neutral or decelerate. Price is a little high (considering application) but it is well made and as mentioned, not obtrusive.

While I prefer to stay off the Interstate, sometimes that's not possible, so on long trips this will help me keep at a constant speed while hopefully reducing arm fatigue.

I borrowed my brother's to do an Iron Butt ride and it made a huge difference in my comfort. It worked well and allowed me to remove my throttle hand from the bars for a break.

My hand would go numb after a while and with the Kaoko I can at least rest my accelerating hand every now and then. Love this thing.

Will the type b fit my 2014 tiger 800 (Roadie) with storm barkbusters?
A shopper on May 4, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I installed the Kaoko on my Tiger 800 with Triumph hand guards. It went on easily and quickly. I'd assume that the same would be the case with the Barkbusters but can't be sure.
Is the Kaoko Throttle Lock compatible with Triumph bar-end mirrors?
Jared J on Dec 20, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I installed this on a tiger 800xc with hand guards without trouble. It internally mounts in side the bar end.
Which fitment do I need for a 2013 Triumph Street Triple R, A or B?
A shopper on May 30, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I just installed the Kaoko fitment type B on my 2014 Street Triple yesterday and it went on without a hitch. You just simply unscrew the stock bar end weight and then screw on the Kaoko with the plastic friction washer thing. I don't think there is any difference between the '13 and '14 Striples that would make it not work for you. After I installed mine there a slight gap between the throttle grip and the friction nut, requiring me to give it a few turns to engage it, but that is fine, it makes more deliberate instead of having a chance of accidentally engaging it on city streets. Hope that helps.
