Kaoko Throttle Lock Ducati 748/ 848/ 916/ 996/ 998/ 999/ 1098/ 1198/ Monster 1100 S EVO/ Multistrada S/ Streetfigther S/ Scrambler

The Kaoko Cruise Control is perfect for anyone looking to reduce fatigue and strain on your hand and wrist during long distance highway riding.

Each Throttle Lock consists of a simple, ingenious and robustly designed friction nut that is integrated with a special Kaoko bar end weight. The Kaoko bar end weight is closely matched in appearance and weight to the Original Equipment Manufacturer's (OEM) bar end weight.

The Friction Nut has a left-hand thread. It must be adjusted so that it makes light contact with the rubber throttle sleeve.

The Grub Screw is set to provide the necessary resistance on the friction nut. This may be adjusted periodically to take up wear.

To Engage: Twist the throttle and friction nut simultaneously with your right hand. This action tightens the nut and provides sufficient friction to set throttle to the desired position. The friction nut is designed that the rider may still open and close the throttle.

To Disengage: Roll off the throttle while gripping the friction nut. The throttle should open and snap closed freely.

Type A: Compatible with or without OEM handguards.

Type B: Compatible with Barkbusters BLG12 and BLG13 Handguards

Type C: Compatible with Monster 696 models with CRG bar end mirrors

Features:

  • Easy to operate, even with heavy winter gloves
  • High quality, compact and durable design
  • Super smooth action
  • Takes less than 5 minutes to install
  • Very little maintenance is required
  • Less wear and tear on throttle cables and grips
  • Better MPG
  • Inlcudes matching left bar end

Kapok makes an easy to use and functional product
This throttle lock came with full directions and was extremely easy to install. It was the first modification I've done on my own and it took me about ten minutes. The hardest part was getting the bar ends off of my bike; you have to be careful not to drop the nut that holds the original bar ends in (Ducati Scrambler). Once installed, I test it with the engine off to get familiar with it. On the road it works exactly as instructed: roll on with your right hand covering the throttle lock and the throttle stays engaged when you let go. Important to note that you can easily roll off with the throttle lock engaged if you want or need to. Highly recommend this product. It also came with a matching left side bar end which is a nice touch.

Multistrada 1200 throttle lock
Installation instructions could have been more clear. Ships with two washers, and it's not totally clear whether to use one or both for the Multistrada 1200

Easy to install should work well for it's intended purpose
The product was easy to install and instructions easy to follow. Due to the bad winter weather in the east I haven't been able to get out and ride. With the bike running in the garage the product functions as described. Think is is going to work well on long trips.

Useful and effective productive
For those who do not have CC on their bikes, this is a good alternative. Do not mistake this for a CC system though as it requires interaction from the rider and it really is just a wrist strain relief device. The Instructions for the final adjustment of the device sounds good but you really have to play with it to get a feel for locking and unlocking the throttle. I had a device that used the brake lever for locking the throttle and it worked well except there was slippage at times. This unit keeps the throttle level locked very well. Make sure you practice the mechanism a bit after installation so you feel comfortable with actions you will take to engage and disengage the control device.

The ease of installation was a great feature. Locking the throttle was easy while driving. Was great that it came with the matching bar end cap for the left side! The finish looks great. Pricing was perfect for me. Overall the product was great!!

Works as advertised
The Kaoko Throttle Lock works as advertised and is easy to install. As an added bonus, it integrates excellently with the Barkbusters Guards on my MTS GranTurismo.

The only rants I have is that engine vibrations in the handlebars will loosen the Throttle Lock if you didn't tighten it enough and that, when loose, the Throttle Lock will "unwind" about a full turn or so, meaning you will have to twist the wheel a few times to engage it.

On the other hand, when you find the sweet spot between tight enough and very tight, you will be able to make throttle adjustments for extended uphill or downhill sections without having to loosen & retighten the Throttle Lock.

Makes a difference
Easy to use however it should be called a throttle assist not a cruise control; makes a big difference on long highway trips to ease wrist fatigue.

Worked decent for a 3000 mile tour.
Bought this for my Multistrada just before a trip through the Ozarks...It's easy enough to install, easier than getting the OEM bar ends off.
Be advised! On the back of the instruction sheet, the company offers no warranty.
I'll start with nit picks: I think the price is...maybe fair, but for some reason, the paint on the bar weight for the left side is bubblng up, and off. For the money I think it should be anodized or something and not just a spray-painted finish.
Performance thus far:
As long as your flat ground, it's great! You can relax your throttle grip and, (not reccomendly), do some Cycle-Yoga! I can put my muscles back in somewhat relaxed working order. One feature that's nice is that it has a set screw so you can apjly just enough pressure to keep the throttle from snapping closed and yet still work it, an in between off/and full on. Since it's a throttle jammer, of course you will slow down going up-hill, and speed up going downhill; so it's useless in real hills/mountains.

I have been looking at this product for awhile. I've done a bit of research and it seems like the best one (for both looks and functionality). My question is whether or not this can be installed along with the arrow bar end mirrors? ... which I currently have installed on my Monster. It looks so much slicker than the stock mirrors. Nothing I've read so has mentioned this.
Thank you!

BEST ANSWER: Just installed this product on Triumph Rocket 3 Roadster. It works well for my application...it does provide option for bar end mirrors on the triumph. I'm sure it's the same for Ducati. Would recommend for experienced riders only.
