Kaoko Throttle Lock BMW F700GS / F800GS / Adventure / R1200 / K200 / K1300 Videos

Kaoko Throttle Lock BMW F700GS / F800GS / Adventure / K1200 S R / R1200 S R RT / K1300 S R

The Kaoko Cruise Control is perfect for anyone looking to reduce fatigue and strain on your hand and wrist during long distance highway riding.

Each Throttle Lock consists of a simple, ingenious and robustly designed friction nut that is integrated with a special Kaoko bar end weight. The Kaoko bar end weight is closely matched in appearance and weight to the Original Equipment Manufacturer's (OEM) bar end weight.

The Friction Nut has a left-hand thread. It must be adjusted so that it makes light contact with the rubber throttle sleeve.

The Grub Screw is set to provide the necessary resistance on the friction nut. This may be adjusted periodically to take up wear.

To Engage: Twist the throttle and friction nut simultaneously with your right hand. This action tightens the nut and provides sufficient friction to set throttle to the desired position. The friction nut is designed that the rider may still open and close the throttle.

To Disengage: Roll off the throttle while gripping the friction nut. The throttle should open and snap closed freely.

Type A - BMW F700GS and F800GS/ADV with Barkbuster, Touratech handguards or OEM barend mounted plastic handguards. All other models without handguards.

Type B - Only for BMW F700GS and F800GS/ADV with OEM metal backbone handguards.

  • Easy to operate, even with heavy winter gloves
  • High quality, compact and durable design
  • Super smooth action
  • Takes less than 5 minutes to install
  • Very little maintenance is required
  • Less wear and tear on throttle cables and grips
  • Better MPG

Expensive, but it works. I use it very little (especially in traffic) because your speed will vary quite a bit going up and down hills. It can be difficult to engage, but holds well once tightened. Haven't used it on any really rough roads or for long periods, but I have not had it loosen. The kit comes with a plastic friction washer that would not work with my Touratech hand guards -- threw it out, but it still works. August 17, 2015
Expensive but it works! I needed to replace the jam nut on my Kaoko throttle lock. Regrettably the plastic nut is not sold separately so I was forced to replace the entire $200 CND unit. It worries me that the " friction bolt" achieves its goal by pressing against a very thin strip of plastic. With regular use this thin piece of plastic will wear through and the unit will fail. Needs to come with selection of bushings to work with anything other than stock throttle grip. I had to get a custom bushing made in order for the unit to work with my after market throttle grip. Still recommend for use on stock bike due to ease of installation and use. June 29, 2015
Great product! Super easy to install and works perfectly. I love that you can still adjust the throttle while the throttle lock is engaged. This is a must have for longer rides. February 17, 2015
Great covert throttle lock I put this throttle lock on in winter and have only had one chance to try it while riding. It worked great and is definitely a lot better looking than all the "lock on handlebar" throttle locks. It was extremely easy to install and set, literally took about 5 minutes and I have the factory bmw hand guards on. The throttle lock simply replaces the bar end on the throttle side and it's only one bolt to pull out and replace. February 2, 2015
Well worth the money I purchased the Kaoko Throttle Lock for the F800GSA after my first weekend ride. Eliminates the wrist and arm fatigue. Well worth the money. Installation was very simple. Very pleased with it. January 11, 2015
Easy to install and works as advertised This product is extremely easy to install (even for people not very mechanically inclined). After about 10 minutes I was out for a ride to test the product. It does take a little time to get used to setting it; however once you do, it is extremely easy to set and to use. If your hand goes numb while riding & you want to pull your hand off the throttle for a short period of time or you are on a long trip and you are looking for essentially a cruise control this this will work perfectly. Installed on a 2014 BMW F800GS Adventure November 10, 2014
Works well after adding a metal washer This product seems well made. For my BMW R12R I had to add a washer as a spacer, otherwise the grip end made contact with the throttle lock even when it was fully "disengaged". Could just be that each bike's grip length varies enough that some need a "spacer" & some don't. It is very discreet & matches factory color & bar end size well. I have not been using it long enough to review it on longevity, but it works well & holds speed on flat terrain (uphill needs slight throttle increase, but the lock stays engaged with small adjustments). Seems kinda pricey for a rather simple design & small amount of material, but it is the best I have seen apart from a $1K electronically controlled unit. September 29, 2014
Nice prouduct It's nice to be able to set this throttle lock to give your fingers and wrist a beak through out the day. Easy to install and use. Seems to be well made compared to a lot of different throttle locks out there . Pay the extra and get this guy. September 1, 2014

Steve D: I have this on my 2014 F800GS Adventure with Barkbuster Storm Hand guard and it works perfect. The installation was painless; not sure but I think the model I ordered must be used with Barkbuster. I have corporal tunnel in my right arm and it goes numb after a while on long trips. Use this just long enough to free my arm and shake out the numbness. Mar 5, 2015

Christopher S: I just emailed the manufacturer. I would need the CCF910 (which is the Type B for revzilla). I pulled them off and is seems like it will work with slight adjustment to the the location of the throttle assembly. It will be tight. Mar 5, 2015

Doug C asked: What is the weight of this product? Jan 12, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Donavan G: Similar in weight to what is factory on the bar ends, which in the case of the 1700 Vmax was quite a bit. I wanted to ensure that the throttle lock was similar as they are weighted for a reason and I wasn't disappointed. The quality is exceptional and it looks like the factory put it there. (they should have!) Jan 12, 2014

Chris G: The Kaoko unit for my BMW R1150RT and R1200S appears to be almost
identical in weight to the stock bar end weights. Could not find any OEM weight specs but the weight is not a concern over the stock bar ends.
