excellent! Love this helmet. In the wind it's kind of rough. Don't look up! But it's a comfy and not loud when riding. Would recommend if you think you could handle it in the wind. August 26, 2014
After many helmets this is the one. I have went through several helmets over the last 5 years looking for one that met my needs. I had a HJC Symax 2, and a Scorpion 900 transformer. in the last 3 years and did not like several things about them. I was always going modular helmet because I did not want to take my glasses off to put a helmet on. The Scorpion was too round for my longer oval head and went with this baby and glad I did. I spent the extra money for the limited edition Big game (zebra pattern with red graphic on the side because it matched my new Honda 2014 CX500. Looks good and love the look of the fiber through the color. Best thing is though it really keeps your head cool and when I leave for work at 4:00AM does not fog. It is comfortable on a long (4+ hours on the bike). I finally found something that fit good and was comfortable and didn't fog. August 18, 2014
YES. Bit of a risk getting a helmet sent halfway round the world but I am stoked. The design is pretty out there but I just didn't want another black lid. I did lots of research and this is was the coolest hi-tec helmet I could find. I love all that post-apocalyptic stuff that Icon do so well, and the quality of materials and construction is superb. Smoked visor a must for that cyborg look, but the vision through it is crystal clear, and a panoramic field of view. August 18, 2014
Obvious Quality VISOR: I ride daily on a high-speed toll road where I ride consistently around 100mph. The visor is not an issue at all. Turning your head is simple trick: tilt your head down, just a tad, then look over. Even at 85mph, wind won't catch. Remarkable actually. If you are going much over 100, you're probably tucked down anyway, since any helmet would catch a lot of wind. NOISE: A little louder than expected at highway speeds if you don't use the chin skirt. Outside noise not a problem, but because the chin is extended more winds comes into the helmet. Just wear the chin skirt that comes with it. SHIELD SCREWS: The helmet is beautiful. High quality. I read what people said about the shield screws, and I've been gentle with those, which has kept them in fine shape. SIZE: If you keep the clear shield on there, it looks very big in comparison to your face inside. If you have the dark shield on though, no big deal. When I got it, it was a big snug compared to my last helmet- but I figured it may be just a more secure fit. So I remeasured my head and consulted the chart that comes with it, and I'm spot on. Its not uncomfortably tight, just a perfect fit for me! I didn't notice the ears being as tight as people have commented on. They must have big ears or something. VENTILATION: Fantastic August 14, 2014
In Love with my Helmet i have been riding with my helmet for about a month now, it has finally molded to the shape of my head and it feels great! the vision on the helmet is amazing! it is kinda loud on the highway but nothing bad at all! great helmet great price! thanks Revzilla June 27, 2014
Great fit. To start off I really like the look and feel of this helmet. First negative of helmet is if your riding in strong wind it will try and rip your head off. Second and worst problem with this helmet is if you intend on changing out the face shield you probably only get to do it about 6 times before the aluminum bolts that hold the shield on seize up and you can't remove them without breaking them off in the helmet. You would think that if your going to make a helmet and charge $400 for a helmet it would have and easy quick detach system for the face shield, like scorpion uses. June 23, 2014
Looks really cool. fits like a charm and very comfy. I've decided it looks like a cross between a halo helmet and a wasps face. This helmet looks Amazing. It's comfortable on top of that. I ride 60 miles a day with 90 percent highway and I put in ear plugs. To be fair I would put in ear plugs with any helmet because it's smart. The helmet creates more drag at high speeds compared to a non visor helmet, but it's not bad. In fact, after a week you'll have stronger neck muscles and you won't notice the additional drag :) June 23, 2014
Cool Looking Helmet Love this helmet. Definitely a little pricey for what you're getting but well worth it. August 4, 2014

David P: This helmet is awesome! I bought the charcoal color and it changes color with different lighting. I added the Gold Mirror shield and even rode with it and night and the visibility was fine. The wind noise is minimal but the visor does catch in the wind with high speed but its not that bad. I wear a size 7 1/8 hat and ordered the helmet in medium. Its a bit tight but eventually it will break in but for now my ears feel like they are going to rip off every time I take the helmet off. Mar 21, 2014

A shopper asked: I want to get a third party Bluetooth but the guys at my motorcycle shop told me that the visor will collect a lot of wind and create a lot of wind/road noise and so I should go with something different. Is that true? How does the helmet do with wind and road noise in terms of bluetooth communications and etc.? Nov 17, 2013

Kyle C: The main idea of this helmet was to bring a lot of air into the helmet. But each air vent has a close switch. As far as a Bluetooth goes. The padding inside does not separate from the shell like most so you have to make sure you can crunch the padding enough for the mounting bracket. I have a scala rider q2. It took some engineering by using longer bolts w nuts to crunch the padding so I could use the bolts that came w the unit. The combo is great and the headset has a noise filter. My wife hasn't complained when we talk on the phone so I think you'll be ok. Good luck. And ride safe. Nov 17, 2013

Shane D: I have the Scala rider G9 which works really well even at 70mph+ speeds while on phone calls. Audio is also great for listening to music and the corded option is great for saving battery on a longer trip.

However you cant mount the unit on with the screw compression backing. You are left with the stick on option which given the shape of the helmet requires adding new adhesive strips even few months!

Great looking helmet! with the dark visor you will get lots of looks stopped at the traffic lights

Payam S: The Icon Variant Battlescar Helmet is a fairly quiet helmet. I would compare it to the noise level of a shoei Qwest. It is very comfortable and well built. The Visor surprisingly does not catch too much air. I ride a sport bike and I commute around 1 hour to work and back at highway speeds. My only issue with the helmet is that the face shield does not go far back enough so it obstructs my field of vision when riding with face shield up.
Overall great helmet, with great looks.

Alain J: I shoud say that the wind shield install on your bike will make the difference. I have the Givi Airflow (2 parts windshield) on my Tiger 800 XC and the wind is no more a problem at any speed. Nov 18, 2013

James C: I had to talk on the phone with my Bose Android buds/mic once in these once. I was surprised that my mother was able to understand me. I believe your communication device will work in this. May 22, 2014

Steve J: I use a Sena with my variant everyday. Never had a problem. It's probably not the quietest helmet I've had, but definitely not the loudest. Nov 18, 2013

Peter A: If i understood your question so is it about 2 visor? An no it doesent i only has one. I live and drive in norway in europe and whne the sun gets really low in late summer and early autum u need an extra pair of sunglasses. (I have the golden visor) btw i love this helmet. Nov 16, 2013

Ulrich B: An inner shield? Not sure what you mean. It has a great shield, and you can use the clear or the the dark one. I have been using the dark one for about a year now, mostly off road, and other than sticky vent controls it's been a great helmet for me. Nov 15, 2013
Reply to Ulrich Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Jason R: It does not. The only sun protection you'll get is by replacing the whole shield with a tinted one. This takes a few minutes. Nov 15, 2013

Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Zamfield: Yes, very easily removed and Icon provide a little "key" to do it with (Although a penny will do the job, or the side of the key!). Mar 25, 2013

Rustbucket: It's not designed to be easily removable - the vent switches are built into it. May 14, 2012

A shopper asked: I currently measure at a 22in (rounded) at the circumference of my head (my forehead). It says 22in maxes out at a small, though once the helmet is broken in, would it be pretty snug?
I wore a sevenzeroseven (707) helmet, at a medium- which is about the same measurement at 22in for a medium, but the helmet is broken in for a good 4-5 months and the fit is starting to get ugly (it IS a cheaper helmet).
How are your sizing compared to other helmets like the shoei and arai? (I tried shoei and arai at my local MC store and they all seem to fit really good, but I'm just a bit skeptical on once it is broken in.

Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
james b: In my opinion icon does not fit the same as shoei or arai. Otherwise I would have one of their adventure style helmets. The icon is snug at first but loosens some with wear. I have 2 variant helmets and the older still fits snug but the padding is obviously broken in. Hope this helps May 29, 2014
Reply to james Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Scott B: The helmets size pretty similar to the 707 line, and will break in, though I've found not as much as the cheap 707 liner. The liner for the variant is firm but plush. I would go for the small, though ordering without wearing the helmet first is always a crapshoot. Good luck. May 29, 2014

steven w: It is very similar to Simpson helmets... I went off the size I used to wear in simpson helmets and it was a perfect fit. I used to wear shoei... like this helmet a lot more.

A shopper asked: How hard would it be to fit a Scala Rider to this helmet? Its like a clamp system. And, is there space for a microphone between the front guard and the mouth?
Looking forward to a reply!

RevZilla: There shouldn't be any complications when mounting a G9 to the Icon Variant Battlescar Helmet. There is more than enough space to fit the clamp and microphone.

If you run into any trouble, give our Gear Geeks a call at 877.792.9455.

kylcldwll: If you have the Scala Rider 2, it mounts to any and all full helmets. Mine bolts right in, ofcourse i had to run the speakers and position the mic but it fits pretty well. Apr 29, 2013

Zamfield: I've just fitted the low profile SMH10R from Sena... great price and a great piece of kit.
Looks the business with this more modern looking helmet and works great.

A shopper asked: Can you wear goggles with this? Apr 28, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: The Icon Variant is not compatible with goggles. The eye-port has tapered corners which are not wide enough to accommodate/fit them. May 14, 2012

Rustbucket: Goggles won't fit with the visor on. I think they would if you took the visor off, but I've never tried. May 14, 2012

Zamfield: You could wear goggles, but you'd need to take the visor off. You can't use both. Mar 25, 2013
