Icon Overlord Long Gloves

Strong, light, and ready for duty - the Overlord glove is the finest glove Icon has ever offered. We started with a Kangaroo palm - thin for ultimate feedback form your controls yet more abrasion resistant than cowhide. Critical impact areas were treated to reinforcements of Pittard's Keratan - a flexible yet significantly enhanced abrasion resistant goatskin. The backhand is constructed from Icon's Battlehide goatskin - forming a tough yet lightweight barrier against asphalt incursion. A full compliment of injection molded armor plating provides additional defensive measures. The Overlord also features a floating knuckle design which allows for maximum articulation while reducing hand fatigue. The overall effect of these materials choices and pattern engineering is instant comfort, protection, and mobility. If you're in the market for a full gauntlet glove slip on an Overlord and judge for yourself.

  • Abrasion resistant premium grade Battlehide goatskin backhand
  • Kangaroo palm
  • Pittards Keratan abrasion zones
  • Injected thermoplastic knuckle and wrist protection
  • Injection molded wrist plate
  • Precurved fingers
  • Aramid stitching

Nice gloves
I have only owned these gloves for a short time so my review is based on initial experience & observation. They're comfortable and well made, stitching, seams and material look like quality stuff. They run a size larger than you'd normally wear; I usually wear XL, and the overlord glove size L fits just right, not too snug or loose. I wore these for the first time while it was raining, and noticed that the elastic material between the fingers (which is only about 1/2 inch worth, close to the web of the hand) lets some moisture through as well as plenty of (cold) air. While this is a pro during hot & dry weather, it's a con for cold & wet. Speaking of the stretch elastic material, it's really the only part that I question when it comes to durability and longevity of the glove. The leather will last a long time, but I have seen that stretch elastic stuff fall apart on other glove designs, particularly where it's stitched in. Time will tell. Overall I am satisfied with the purchase.

Had a RevZilla credit which made these free. First pair of race gloves were Icons so I stuck with a known fit. Good for aggressive riding and the intro to track days for novice, wouldnt use these for Intermediate or higher track days or racing.

I purchased a Medium on these gloves and at first they were tight to perfect but now I feel they are a bit loose.
I also thought the knuckle part was carbon fiber until I got them and noticed it was a mesh material underneath that makes it sort of look like cf, my fault for not checking closely. Overall they area comfortable, a bit of a process to get on and off.

after my crash and the way that my icon products held up and saved my skin I am a faithful icon gear buyer

Needed a gauntlet glove to offer more protection than short glove for faster rides. This looked less bulky, cheaper and quality construction compared to competition.
Divesh K on May 24, 2014
My hands are my money. I wanted something that I felt if I went down, all my digits would still be there. Given I'm a new rider, I wanted the utmost control over the throttle and controls to learn. These offered great protection and kangaroo leather (sorry hoppers) for better tactile feel.

I needed a good set of gloves and all reviews helped me make a decision. You get a lot of glove for the money.
Michael T on Nov 20, 2013
Very good gloves for mid to warmer temps. Outstanding tactile response. Decent levels of protection. Have used during thousands of miles of riding and they are still in decent shape.
Johnnie B on Nov 4, 2013
I purchased these because they are close in design to the Icon TiMax TRX gloves I previously owned. The TiMax gloves were awesome. I went through two pairs but unfortunately they are no longer available.
Gary A on Oct 5, 2013
good fall protection.
Myles H on Aug 22, 2013
Because based on the reviews it got, it offers great protection, has top of the line stitching and uses very strong materials. It also has great features like a separate plane for the hand and wrist, extra protection for the ulna, and can slip over a jacket. This will also match My Icon Overlord Leather Jacket As Well.

Is this a good track day glove?

BEST ANSWER: Though I haven't tested these out on a track personally, I have used them through two riding seasons here in Alberta Canada, and can write a review that I think would give some insight into how they would perform on the track.

1) they are solid and durable gloves. I have yet to have a seam loosen let alone separate.
2) the leather is strong but very responsive in that I can easily move my hands, to the different controls I need to and feel through the leather very well.
3) the Velcro wrist strap keeps them firmly in place on my hand and the full wrap portion of the glove at the back firmly wraps around the sleeve of my riding jacket. I've never had them shift around on my or let go of my sleeve while riding.
4) the design gives great breath ability. The leather is solid where it needs to be and perforated where it needs to be to keep my hands cool and dry when it's hot and warm when it's cool. Very nice when your riding in a variety of temperatures trying to extend the Canadian riding season;) all around I've been very impressed with these gloves. And would definitely purchase them again. *If these ever wear out that is ;)
Hi there Revzilla's
I'm interested in the Icon Overlord gauntlet gloves, and just need some assistance and guidance on sizing. I have 2 questions.
1. I have measured the circumference of my hand, and it is just on 9". What size do you recommend?
2. I have tried on some other brands of gauntlet, and have found difficulty getting my hand through the wrist opening. If I go up to a size where I can get through the wrist opening, I usually find the gloves are too big. I seem to have a disproportionally wide palm compared to my finger length! Is the wrist opening of the Icon overlord typical, or is it smaller/larger than average? Maybe I'm better off with the short version of the Overlord?

Cheers
John

BEST ANSWER: Acording to Q1: Your'e obviously Large for the Icon Sizing Chart (http://www.revzilla.com/icon-size-chart), but what I said on my Icon Justice Leather Gloves Review, my hand is 8.5" for MD size in the chart, but I've always bought Small with other brands, so I bought Small Icon gloves and they fit very well, not too loose and not too tight. As for the Wrist oppening, I think you need to consider the type of body you have. I'm a 63 Kg. and 1.68 guy. So I find icon gloves to be in the standard wrist oppening. Slightly large, because I need to pull all the velcro around in order tighten the glove. Hope this will help. Cheers!
Thanks for the reply TA3one.

Can you please give me the link you mention, where you can download and print a size chart? I have looked here, on Icon site as well as Google, and can't find anything like it.

Cheers
