Great light weight jacket I'm tall and have issues finding jackets long enough in the torso and arms. This fits me great! Good warmer weather jacket - not so great when the sun goes down and the temp drops below 60 or so. January 18, 2013
Perfect fit light weight very comfortable and flexible Absolutely love this jacket!! Fits perfect to size, light weight feel with flexibility to move pretty freely. Fantastic look - fair airflow. I'm 5'9" and 135lbs. I got Contra Speed Queen in black in size M couple of months ago. I live in Phoenix,AZ, so I was looking for something with good airflow as the summers here are extremely hot. Contra SQ disappoints in that regard as the air flows only through parts of the jacket and it is not enough when it's over 100F outside. It definitely worked much better in 80-90F weather considering mesh/summer functionality of it. As for style, the jacket really stands out. The floral motifs on the sleeves, the carbonfiber-like look of the panels on shoulders and white stitching throughout make this jacket look really sweet and edgy. On the back, big and shiny 'Speed Queen' applique is something your reputation will have to live up to I guess, but it's playful and fun, and I love it. As for the body armor, it's ok. I had a bit of trouble initially with my shoulder pads - they'd move around - but as I wore it more, they seemed to adjust little better to my body shape and stay in place more now. I was little worried at first about the stiffness of the jacket and the 'rough' feeling of the material, but it went away after first wash and I just make sure now to always Velcro all the body armor pockets so that they don't scratch my skin. Overall, very cool jacket - it looks good, stands out and fits pretty good. The liner is nice too - warm and comfy and in hot pink! One thing to keep in mind if you've owned other ICON jackets like me (I owned ICON Threshold Hooligan in Pink until ruined in a crash - it worked, BTW) - sport fit and relaxed fit differ a LOT. In Hooligan Threshold I had to get size XS and it was still a bit wide in the shoulders. Contra fits true to size - I wear M in clothing and that's my size in this jacket. August 14, 2012
This jacket is fantastic! Pros: Great style and looks Extremely comfortable Good protection in the correct locations Cons: Air flow is not exceptional, better for temp less than 85F Pocket locations on the exterior are awkward Overall I love this jacket and would recommend it to anyone who doesn't live in high temperature and humidity areas. The jacket doesn't breath as well as I had hoped, but really most of them don't. This jacket offers great comfortable protection in a stylish way. When comparing fit and comfort with other brand jackets, this one comes out on top. Sizing is slightly smaller due to the inside removable liner. With the liner removed it seems comparable to other brand jackets of the same size. Sizing is very close to Alpinestars. It is more roomy than Scorpion. The back side of the jacket is lower, preventing ride up in a street bike riding position. There is no need for additional liners or add on accessories to prevent coverage on the extreme lower back. It is more comfortable than any other jacket I have worn riding. If you are reading the reviews because you are on the fence about buying this jacket or another, BUY IT!!! I did for over a week, and ended up buying both because I couldn't make up my mind. The other was an Alpinestar. I only wear this one as it is much more comfortable and looks great.
