Icon Brigand Vest

From the leader in armored motorcycle vests comes the Brigand. Consider it a tactical riding rig, capable of doing leather work on a textile salary. The Brigand, like all Icon vests, ships with a removable back protector. In this case it is a D3O Viper CE approved back protector. This protector lies discretely hidden under the Brigand’s durable textile chassis until such time as it is called into service. And while no back protector can provide protection from every situation, the D3O Viper will definitely stack the odds in your favor. Additional features of the Brigand include both metal and nylon YKK zippers, torso adjustment straps, and padded AX Suede shoulder overlays for increased durability.

Features:

  • Durable textile chassis
  • Removable D3O Viper CE approved back protector
  • Side fit adjustment straps
  • Sized to fit over jacket
  • Premium YKK zippers
  • Storage pockets

The fit is a little large... ...but overall, I'm happy with the product. It's made to fit over a jacket/sweatshirt/etc, but I'm using just the vest. Iowa summers tend to be too warm to wear a full jacket, and this vest seems to meet the criteria laid out: - some upper body protection -included back protector (I've seen other reviews where people intend to swap out the back protector. It does seem soft, but I haven't yet decided whether or not to make the change). -breathable / cool. When riding in the upper 70's or 80's, I've been very comfortable. Time will tell how it performs on the 90+ days. I know that general wisdom is to not ride if it's too hot for a jacket, but for me, that's just not going to happen. I think this is a good compromise between safety and comfort. July 6, 2015
Awesome durable material Almost perfect fit, durable useful side adjustable straps. Looks even better when you actually have it and your wearing it. Love this vest, can't stop smiling, pockets are useful to, feels good, feels just right. Time to ride. April 21, 2015
Great light weight protection I looked at this vest for a few months before pulling The trigger on buying it. Not sure why I waited so long! Awesome style as well as some protection in the event of a crash. Light weight but still not to hot For summer use. Love it!!! September 1, 2014
nice vest Bought a 4xl-5xl. This is one of the only vests I can fond in this size range that actually fits me .. All others are way small at 4-5xl. Nice vest . July 7, 2014
great vest -very bad@ss looking as well Bought this for the hubster and he loves it and I love the way it looks/fits. Very "sons of anarchy". Fits great. I obviously don't wear it but it feels very durable and I like knowing he's wearing a something so protective. May 5, 2014
A fine adquisition for the price! A little crispy, warm but I do not recommend it for hot summer or hot weather. On the othe side many pockets, hard zippers, durable. I like the frontal logo finish. Leather is superb but this one is light and more less costly! February 21, 2014
Good, not great One downside is that the webbing inside is not removable, so if you want to sew any patches on, you basically take away the option of using the back protector as it's opening will most likely end up sewed shut. October 7, 2013
Simple, efficient vest. I purchased this vest for summer riding on my '82 Yamaha XS650. I'm a younger rider(22) on an older bike, so I wanted something other than your standard "all leather, straps and chrome buckles and zippers" that you generally see in cruiser vest options. The vest is very comfortable, fits well with either a t-shirt or sweatshirt underneath. Very lightweight. Lots of features, most important being the D30 back armor plate. Flexibility of the plate allows for lots of movement for various riding styles, without sacrificing any protection of the spine/back. The plate is barely noticeable while riding, but also removable, if you don't value the use of your limbs after a serious crash. Lots of storage, and 3 of the 5 pockets have YKK zippers for security at higher speeds. The last 2 pockets have velcro fasteners, but I wouldn't trust anything in those pockets while riding(I am also very paranoid of losing whatever I have in my pockets while on the bike, though) Sliding plastic straps on the sides allow you to pull in the vest for different clothing options. The back of the vest is naked, and allows for any patches you'd like to put on to represent your MC. The one complaint I have with it is the airflow, it can get a little warm underneath it at red lights, but I'd take the small amount of sweat buildup for the added protection of the vest. Overall, I feel the vest is a great bargain for someone looking for something other than the old school leather look, and will fit for any style bike in both safety and style. July 2, 2013

Robert S: Icon gear runs true to size for me, I'm a Medium in Icon vests and jackets. I'm 5'10" and 165, wear a suit jacket size 40 and my fitted shirt is 16 neck and 34/35 sleeves. I hope that helps! And with a vest you have the side straps that adjust too, I would say a 4XL will be perfect for you. Jun 16, 2014

A shopper asked: I'm 6'6 (78 inches) tall and 223 lbs. What is the length like on this vest. Should I go with a larger size (my waist is 40 unsure of my chest would have to guess around a 44 or so). I like the style of this vest just don't want to get something that is too short. Recommendations? Apr 8, 2015

David S asked: I am about 120 pounds or lighter, and about 5'11" and I wear a size small in an Icon Overlord Textile Jacket. Would a small/medium fit me? Jan 18, 2014

Luis E L: yes it would, but maybe will fit you a litle bit big, however it come with straps on the sides to better fit. I'm 190 and 5'7'' and order the same size S/M, but I updated to the Regulator Leather Best, it's more expensive but way better and cooler than this one Jan 18, 2014

Robert S: Yes, it should fit just fine, I wear mine over a few medium Icon jackets and they fit snug. If you are wearing it over the jacket it will be perfect, if you wear it by itself over a shirt , it may be loose in the sides. Jan 20, 2014

Zwetan K: the vest size already take into account a size bigge

I'm a shorter stocky guy too and I went with the 2XL/3XL

Mark R: If you want it to fit over a jacket, go with what the size chart says. If you want to use without you might consider sizing down as it will be large. Oct 28, 2013

Kathleen L asked: The vest looks what I am looking for but, I'd like to have a beetter back protecor. What level is th back protector and what model of te forcefield back inserts works best? Jul 2, 2015
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
JC S: At the risk of appearing uneducated, and barbaric I say this; I wrecked my GSX-R 750 last May. I had on THIS vest, helmet and gloves. I did multiple flips in the air (about 4-5 seconds of being airborne), and I landed directly on my back. Apart from the inherent force of impact, my back was completely unscathed. I literally, walked away from the wreck; with my back to this day, or a year later, suffering no signs of having gone down at all. It comes with a "D30 Viper C.E. certified back protector."

As far as replacement armor that will fit, I am utterly unknowledgeable.

Hope this helps.

A shopper asked: I've a size large Icon Patrol Jacket and the updraft around the tank of my V-Strom sends to much wind through the mid chest vent pockets in the winter, neutralizing my synergy electric jacket heat. Will the L/XL vest fit over the L Icon Patrol jacket? May 28, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
BrunnetteLeopard: Yes it should fit because of the draw string cinches that allow for size adjustments. May 29, 2013

A shopper asked: I cant decide wether to get the Icon Brigand or just a plain leather vest. I want it to be at least semi wind resistant. Mar 22, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: Both the textile and leather will be similarly wind resistant, though you'll lack any wind protection on the arms of course. In this case, it comes down to style. Mar 25, 2013
