Icon Elsinore Boots

The Icon 1000 Elsinore's five-strap, alloy-buckle chassis, stamped metal heel plate, and internal steel shank combine for a serious dose of moto-x homage. The traditional Goodyear welt construction mates the Icon street-specific sole to the magnificent leather upper. A medial entry zipper, allocated from Paratrooper jump boots, is the only luxury the Elsinore will allow itself. A modern relic from an era when men were iron and tanks were steel. The Elsinore, old-school MX reinterpreted for the urban sprawl.

Features:

  • 12" top grain leather upper
  • Goodyear welt construction
  • Icon cast metal buckles
  • Icon stamped metal heel plate
  • Heat pressed leather shifter panel
  • Heat pressed molded leather shin plate
  • Internal ankle protection
  • Axialmetric steel shank
  • YKK Zippers

Yes, I bought these in Thunderdome These boots will inspire you to escort water caravans across the wasteland in no time! -A beautiful retro-moto x boot that looks better and better the more miles they get. -Solid protection from the upper shins to the toes, rugged construction. -Due to the rigid and hefty construction the leather does take some time to break in and it takes a little while to acclimate to the large toe box, but its worth it! April 7, 2014
Good protection/looks great First and foremost, I get compliments on how these boots look. But they are very well-made and the fact that they look good makes it more likely that I'll bother to throw my walking shoes in my backpack and use these protective boots. The toe is quite large so I have to do a bit of maneuvering to switch gears. I chose the brown pair and they are wearing very nicely. The more beat-up they look, the better. I'm seriously thinking of springing for the black pair. If they ever go on sale, I'm not hesitating to order a black pair. April 1, 2014
this product is outstanding. I am not satisfied, I am extremely satisfied. I'll do it again. not a shred of a regret. Everything is as advertised. March 31, 2014
Apocalypse Fashion Boot Basically a heavy duty street boot with retro-motorcross styling. Not an actual motorcross boot. Overall true to size, but heavy leather areas require a bit of break-in time to become comfortable. only improvements would be adding a bit more of a rain gusset inside of the zipper and increasing the gauge of the zipper. Fun to ride around town and light enduro off-roading. March 31, 2014
cool boots omg i would love to have them they wont go with my bike but i dont care hahahahah March 17, 2014
Great boots, awesome style I bought these boots for my BF for xmas and he loves them. He said it took a week or so to break them in (they were pretty stiff at first). Now he says they are comfortable enough to walk the mall in. March 10, 2014
Great Boots These boots definitely take a while to break in. Like most other reviewers, I too had to move my shifter position because of the large toebox. So many compliments on the awesome looking boots. The zipper in and out is great. February 24, 2014
100% honest review. great boot with faults. this boot looks and fits great. change the foot bed right off the bat. its a piece of paper. do that then find out where you like your straps and go to town and the ladies will instantly fall in love with you, and your triumph or sportster gains 10hp on the way there too! now if thats all you wanted to know, don't read on. and these boots will still be perfect.... this is a fashion boot first and a motorcycle boot second. icon must of thought the opposite or something because the fit and finish would really be unacceptable if they weren't the only kind of "reasonably" priced retro moto looking boot. stitching and welts have major visible flaws. for a boot this price thats not cool at all. id like to blame it on china but i have a pair of Chinese made brand name boots right next to me that i paid less for - that are 4 years old and not a single flaw in the welt or stitching. now i'm not here to flame these boots, i'm just saying when your boots stitching is bright yellow against brown. it can be straight and maybe when they run out of thread they can try to get the stops anywhere but dead center of the boot. or who ever puts the screws in the heal plate can try to not cross thread them, this is a 250$ boot... should be quality. with all that said its still a good looking boot. especially when its worn in all those flaws will blend in to the general uglyfication they will naturally gain. but out of the box it would have been a work of art for the money spent February 15, 2014

William L: The look and feel is totally badass. I live in a rather hot area so honestly I haven't worn them yet but trying them on and walking around the house you really feel the heft. I think these will be my fall/winter go to footwear for riding. You can wear them under jeans or go for the fashion statement by wearing them over your pants. Plenty of room for people with larger calves. Mine are skinny so I have them adjusted all the way to the tightest setting. Sep 13, 2013

A shopper asked: on the vidio i see yellow stiching on the boot. I do not wish to have this. Do I specify this? Oct 24, 2013

Marc J: No. The short boot, "El Bajo" has black stitching but the Elsinore is only available with yellow stitching (when you order the black boot).

Some black shoe polish may cover or at least darken the yellow stitching.

Loranzy N: Unfortunately the yellow stitching is part of the boot and currently there is not an option for alternate stitching. I was wondering the same thing as well when I bought the boot, but once the boots starts to petina from use and the sun etc it is not as noticeable. Oct 24, 2013

A shopper asked: Does Icon boot sizing run true to size? Feb 27, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
EKFlores: I followed the size that was specified for the boots. I measured my feet and the circumference of my calves and the shoe fit me close to perfect. I mean so perfect its almost tight, but not constricting. Of course they will stretch eventually throughout use. May 13, 2012

Terry1: Yes, the lenght of the boot runs true to size; however, the boot is a little wide, but that can be somewhat corrected by simply adjusting the side buckles. May 7, 2012

A shopper asked: I understand the Icon 100 Elsinore is an MX-style boot, but it looks so cool and I like the build quality. Would this style also look OK riding a Harley? Jan 20, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Loranzy N: I have a Harley and have owned this boots almost a year. I am happy with the purchase and recieve compliments when people see them (worn under the jeans seldom tucked) The build quality is excellent and I have worn them in all sorts of terrain when I get off the bike;from asphalt, grass, and the woods. Only thing I will say is that walking around for extended period of times, they can be a little uncomfortable (over 6+hrs at a bike week event) but not to the point of blisters or anything just something to be aware of. But that is due to the protection trade off with a stiffer sole! So I think they well do an excellent job from that perspective. I live in Ohio and they keep my feet comfortable during cold weather and in the rain they have kept them dry ( added a silicone protectant). Hope this helps, good luck! Jan 21, 2014

Robert P: Heck yeah! I ride my Tiumph 675 stunt bike with them even, and they don't look or feel out of place.
They'd be perfect for a Harley rider. Just note they're very stiff at first and require a solid break in period. When they break in they're extremely comfortable. I wear them all day touring or stunting. The icon field armor knee pads tuck in nicely to them too.

I highsided bad with them doing a left hand drift. Bike flipped and landed right on my foot. They held up and Icon sent me a Purple Heart :P I'm still rockin them. They make replacement buckles and heel plates if you damage them going down

Ryan B: Yes I and my father both own pairs for riding. I have a brown set and he a black. I ride sport and he had his fat Bob and these can fit well with either. They are a great all around boot. And as much as I hate to say it I've even had a bit of a safety test on these. They hold up very well and even still look great after a bit of a low side.i would recommend them to anyone who likes the style of them or is used to wearing a work boot, because they really do have a similar fit and feel. Jeffrey G: I would hope so; my pair has been on my 2004 Night Train roughly five days a week since they arrived at my doorstep quite a while ago. I did have to adjust my shifter due to the stiffness in the ankle, but beyond that they're fantastic riding boots. They're are also my main ADV riding boots on my KTM 990 Adventure. So cruiser, sport, or adventure, this boot will work everywhere... it has for me. Jan 21, 2014

sean c: Yeah, its a great looking boot. On a harley I would definitely get the black boots, the brown look a bit retro. Brown would look good on a Roland Sands-style bike, if that makes sense. It is a big boot around the calf area, you will need roomy pant legs or wear them over the pants. Jan 20, 2014

Dan S: They look more Mad Max than MX. Very comfortable and look great. Almost a shame not to have your cuffs tucked into them to show the boots off. They look great on my power cruiser and will look just as good with my new R1200RT. Jan 20, 2014

A shopper asked: Totally wanting to buy the Elsinore boots. My fear is I usually wear a 8 1/2 to a 9". Do they run big or small? Not sure if I should order the size 9" or stay with 8 1/2? Aug 7, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: These boots tend to run true to size. If you want a very tight fit, we would recommend you to stay with a size 8.5, if you want a looser fit, the size 9 would work better. Aug 9, 2012

A shopper asked: Are these boots waterproof? Resistant? Sep 11, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
PDXgearhoarder: Water resistant. There's no hydrophobic membrane or taped / sealed seams, so it can't be claimed to be waterproof. Hasn't rained yet here in PDX, but I'm going to bet if worn under leathers, overpants or even decent riding jeans my feet won't get wet. Won't be treating the leather on these for water resistancy. Just personal preference. I'll put my Sidis on if it's raining. These I'll wear to scare people. Oct 3, 2012
Reply to PDXgearhoarder Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
SharkRider55: No they are not, I added mink oil to make them resistant to moisture, rain. Heck even the boots I have bought in the past that stated waterproof, got my feet wet. Unless they are rubber boots, the best I believe any boot can offer is "water resistant", but waterproof is an exaggeration in my opinion. Oct 8, 2012
Reply to SharkRider55 Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: The Icon 1000 Elsinore Boots are not listed as being waterproof or water-resistant. If you are looking for waterproof boots from Icon we recommend checking out the Icon Patrol Waterproof Boots or the Icon Reign Waterproof Boots. Sep 12, 2012

Bonneh: Theyre all leather with a big shin guard like tongue that has a lining inside the folds around so unless you go stand in a knee deep puddle your feet should be pretty dry. Worst case scenario just keep your pant leg over them. Oct 8, 2012

lost a few toes too....hence my nickname <7>

CudaIOMC: Same reason I picked these up! Destroyed the ligaments in my ankle and shin, as long as the swelling isn't too bad these are an excellent choice, great ankle support and the straps allow you to sinch them up to a tight fit.
The zip side allows you to really open them up to you should have no issues getting them on pain free.
If swelling is an issue you may want to go one size bigger.

A S asked: Hey, have a question about size. This will be my first pair of real protective riding boots. I bounce between a 12 and a 13 usually. For example - I buy Redwing boots in 12 because the leather opens up a bit. My lady got me a pair of these Elsinores in size 13 and I can just get my foot inside, but when I stand and walk, there is a little play in the ankle and toe area where my foot moves a bit in the boot.

For a riding boot, should these be on the tighter side with no play inside the boot as they will likely open up a bit, or should I stick with the 13s as they may just be very stiff right now and will form to my foot a bit over time?

Normally I'd go down a size, but any smaller and I'm worried about getting my foot into them at all, and they are already snug on my calfs - no room to size down on the legs...

Any pointers appreciated, thanks.

karim s: Hey - Per your question:
Normally I wear 9.5 in regular shoes, so i took a gamble and ordered size 9.5. I have to admit, to my surprise, the pair fitted very well.

When I first tried them on It felt a bit odd : the boots were heavier than what I used to and a bit stiffer but kind to the calf. That being said, I got used to it very quickly as they loosen a hair. I am wearing them using a thin pair of socks. hopefully it won;t change the feel when i'll be wearing a thicker ones.

For max comfort, i think you should allow some play, at least to allow some air flow. Since you are in between two sizes i would suggest that you go with size13s, specially if your wear them with thick socks. Also don't forget that your feet during summertime have a tendency to swell in a bit.

Be prepared to a lack of comfort when you hope on your bike for the first time with the boots on. The sole is very thick. I ride a cruiser and luckily I have a heel-toe shifter. I can't up shift with my toe: not enough space between floorboard and the gear shifter.

Ryan T: I usually wear a size 13 in non-moto boots and i bought these in a 12.
Kinda snug but not to bad. I just use them for street riding.
More of a bike nite boot then a all day riding boot.

A shopper asked: Is there a woman's version of this boot? I am looking for a trials type boot (water proof, soft - easily to break in, tall, supportive and provides good safety components) and this boot looks like it could fit the bill. If this is not a good option can you make an alternative suggestion? Mar 17, 2014

Duane K: Yes there is a woman version! Icon 1000 Women's Elsinore Boots
I own the men's version and absolutely love them! They provide great protection, break in quickly, and provide a lot of support. I sprayed mine with a leather protectant and they have kept my feet dry in the few down pours I've riden through. They look really cool also. I've gotten compliments out in town at the local coffee shops. You really can't go wrong with these boots! Hope this helps :)

Richard B asked: The black boots in the photo above have a rough finish that I really like. Seeing the slick finish on the boots Anthony had in the video makes me not want these. What finish are they shipping with now? Nov 11, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Wesley M: I looked at the video and photo. The finish on the boot is different from the photo and the video. I also did a Google search made some comparisons to my boots at home and the ones others are wearing. That finish is nothing close to the glossy police boot finish. Again there is a break in period, scuffing the boots, getting caught in the rain....they will look like the photo. Mine do! Nov 15, 2013

Wesley M: As with most leather products there will be some shine to them. There is a break in period for these boots, after wearing them to ride over the past summer they definetly match the boots in the photo. These are by far the best Moto boots I've ever had. Nov 14, 2013

Richard B: I'm sorry, but you cannot tell me that these two boots are made of the same leather.
I have experience with fine leather furniture and I can tell you there is a major difference.
In the product photo the shift patch matches the leather on the boot. In the video the leather on the shift patch looks right, but the boot is clearly a glossy police boot like finish. I really wish I could include a photo! Nov 15, 2013

I have a pair of Sidi Adventures, and after about 10k miles on the bike and only short walks from parking to the office, the sole's need to be replaced. While they are soft and comfortable, given the limited use on pavement, I'm hoping to find 1) a more rugged sole and 2) one that can be replaced. Mirrory: It may be unrelated but if you have a matte black helmet the brown will mesh really good with it. I haven't seen it in person but it appears you can see the composite weave on the helmet, so it will be a lacquer brown color with a dull hue. Apr 19, 2012

RevZilla: The color between the Icon 1000 Elsinore Boots and the Icon Variant Battlescar Helmet is slightly different. The helmet will be a bit clearer and flashy than the boots. The colors will be very similar but not an exact match. Apr 10, 2012

I do have large calves and I would like to know the circumference of the top of the boot and the height of the boots, so I can figure out if it will suit me.
Can someone give the different dimensions of those boots?
Thank you very much for the answer.

Gavin T: Check out the El bajos, They have the same style but in a shorter boot. That's what I ended up going with. The elsinores where to tight to wear over jeans so the el bajos look the same and are more comfortable. Feb 21, 2014
