Excellent value Love the helmet - clean simple design and good features. The 3 vents provide some good venting. Face shields are relatively inexpensive and very easy to swap out. The interior cushioning easily comes out for cleaning/washing. I would guess the sizing runs a bit small - I needed a large and I don't really have a 'large' head by comparison. September 21, 2015
best helmet I've ever owned This helmet is extraordinary and given the price, it makes you wonder why most helmets are not manufactured this way. The inner liner feels smooth against the skin and airflow feels amazing when all vents are open! The noise level in my opinion is a medium so you still need to wear ear plugs. If HJC can make this helmet quieter it will be just as good if not better than any high end Shoei or Arai. Overall this is the best helmet I've ever owned and will most likely buy another when the time comes. September 21, 2015
Comfortable Safety...wish it had better "racing" visibility I've gone thru 2 of these helmets. This one and the Graffitti. The comfort outways the faults. First the bad, when I'm gridding up and the 3 sign is out, I really like to put the visor up. However, the 2 board always seems early and the 1 is also rushed and I need to get the visor down and snapped quick. This visor is a little hard to snap shut with my race gloves. An average problem, basically I like to stick my neck way out lining up a turn. The top of the helmet is a little lower than I wish it was. Basically Looking left and right is useless during a race. You're not worried about traffic you always look forward or "up". Up being that you're hanging off the side of the bike and craning your neck "up" to look forward. The top of the visor opening could be a little more to make that easier. It's hard on my neck. The good, comfort, comfort, comfort. This helmet rocks. The great, I've gone thru two of these because me head has hit the pavement twice. The first time was upwards of 140mph and I barely felt it. My arm felt like the hand of God reached down and slapped me into the track but my head barely registered the fall. The second time I didn't feel a thing. Thru the few faults this helmet rocks simply for comfort and protecting my dome. Love it. A similar fall in my "helmet not to be mentioned" and I saw stars. September 14, 2015
A great buy with decent features. I wanted full face helmet for an up coming trip, so I decided on the RPHA 10 based on price and overall reviews. Since it was a closeout, I assume because of the color, it was about $100 off the regular sale price. My head size was right on the border of a medium-large at 22 7/8" so I opted for the large. I have never been able to wear a medium in a full face helmet. I think it was a good choice. It still fits fairly snug after breaking it in so I'm glad I went with the large. It's about average on noise but it is very light in weight. I had hope it would be a little quieter but still a good value with the include pin lock shield. September 14, 2015
Just what I wanted I have had this helmet for a few months now, and can finally tackle a review. It is great. The visor seals well, the helmet vents good, and it's a lot quieter than my old HJC FS-6s helmet. I would not hesitate to recommend this helmet or purchase again if I neeeded to. September 9, 2015
Great Value, especially at sale price I bought the rpha 10 evoke in black at a sale price of $240. I was on the face between this and a Bell RS1 that I got to try on in a store. With the arpha being priced for so much less, I decided to give it a try and i'm glad I did. I've purchased 2 other full face helmets before this one. A GMAX GM78 (decent for an entry-level helmet) and a Lazer Monaco Pure Glass modular helmet. (Very nice for touring or group rides) this is my basis of comparison when it comes to airflow, noise level and comfort. This helmet has a very comfortable interior, small profile, snug fit that still feels good even after a few hours, and a small first detent for around town. The latch on the front works well but I usually ride with it unsecured to allow the shield to stay fog-free. I have a 23 inch head measurement and a large fit perfectly. I also have an intermediate oval head shape. The rpha is quieter than both of my other helmets but I still need earplugs for longer rides. As far as style goes the evoke pictures didn't impress me online but it does look pretty good in person. The graphic is definitely gray and silver even though it can look gold in videos and some pictures. I bought the dark smoke shield to go with it and it looks pretty bada$$. are thinking about getting this helmet I strongly recommend it, especially at the sale price. September 5, 2015
Excellent bang for your buck Comparable to my Arai in build quality, weight and comfort. Only down side is the lack of air flow from the mouth vent. Air flow up top is excellent, but the mouth vent /breath guard aren't that great. Otherwise, it's definitely my favorite helmet. July 20, 2015
One heck of a helmet with a few flaws I just want to say that I have 3 helmets right now since I just bought a new HJC RPHA-10. I have a Shoei Multitec from years ago that I wore up until the spring of 2014 and while nothing was wrong, the helmet was just too old (7 years old). I bought an HJC CL-17, making it my first "budget"/low-end helmet since owner a Raider years ago. I did have an RF-1100 for a year before a friend borrowed my helmet for a long group wide and went down and with money being tight, I "settled" for the CL-17. I was debating earlier this spring between an RF-1200 (since I've had a Shoei before and I liked it), Bell RS-1, or the RPHA-10 since they were all close in price and after trying them on, the RF-1200 didn't really fit my head too well but the RS-1 and the RPHA-10 were perfect for me, a better fit than the CL-17 which broke in and was a bit too large now. But with a small baby, I decided I just got my HJC CL-17 so I stuck it with the CL-17 until I saw a price I couldn't pass up as mentioned above. I'll do a first thoughts review now and maybe in mid-September I'll do another follow-up. If you do mind, feel free to move along . Also, everything will be rated on your basic 1-10 scale trying to be as objective as possible. Rating- Using your basic 1-10 scale or my own MMA/Pro Wrestling scale. 1= Deplorabe. They couldn't pay me enough to wear it regularly (unless it was in the 3 figure range lol, then I'd consider it). A "Kenneth Allen" 3= Pretty bad. I would not buy it, again, unless I was paid, I will skip on this helmet/feature. A "Shungo Oyama" 5= Average, maybe I'd buy it again and maybe I wouldn't depending on the circumstances. I think we all know what a 5 is or what average means. A "Phil Baroni". 7= Pretty good, or above average. I would likely buy it again or the feature is something I could live with and not complain much. "A Heath Herring/gate keeper." 10= Cream of the crop, the holy grail. The "Royce Gracie of the 90s or Fedor of the early/mid 2000s or GSP of the late 2000s and early 2010s. Simply put, cannot be defeated. Price The RPHA-10 is now available at a few places for $199 on closeout which is ridiculous and a deciding factor in my purchase. This helmet, when it first came out, had an MSRP $359-$554 depending on the graphics with the Ben Spies and Jorge Lorenzo Replicas being the most expensive one. Most places are still selling them at $300+ for just the solids, ahem *RevZilla*. So to be able to nab a supposedly great helmet at 50% off was just too good of a deal to let it pass by. 9.5/10 or Anderson Silva- Those PEDs helped a bit/ Safety Isn't this the reason we get these things? Well, it's a day old and only 65miles on the noggin so I'll just get to the stats and go to the next area of interest. SNELL M2010 and DOT certified. 8/10 simply because it is not ECE R22.05 or Robbie Lawler Fit/Comfort The helmet is obviously a bit more of a race fit helmet but I assume most of us have worn an race fit helmet before. Snug but man this one fit like a glove. Within seconds, I didn't even notice I was wearing it if not for one thing, that I will get to in a bit. I would say this helmet fits more of a neutral shape, some say round but it is not round like the CL-17. Definitely more neutral or maybe even slightly on the more narrow oval/intermediate oval than a true round. Love the fit, the liner felt better than I remember from trying it on a few months ago; the liner is very plush and just has a great quality feel to it. Feels like a soft pillow all around my head the moment I put it on and then it disappears completely, figuratively speaking. I tried on my CL-17 and the Multitec and there was a big change. It also feels better than my old RF-1100 as well. The only thing that reminds me I am wearing a helmet, and is a slight nuisance at the moment, is that I feel like something is pressing on my right ear ever so slightly. I am hoping that after a few weeks, it will break in and that will go away. No pain but feels like my ear lobe is being folded in a bit even though it is not. 7.5/10 or Michael Bisping/ Face Shied/Vision The eye port here, vertically is just average if you look at just the dimensions of the. The width of the shield is above average. With that said, there's a difference when you put it on and actually look through the eye port. Unlike my modular Shoei and the CL-17, I can actually see more vertically in this helmet than my previous 4 helmets (RF-1100 included). I'm not sure because I measured the vertical visor size and it's basically the same as my CL-17 but once it's on, I can barely see the top of the visor. It's really in the way the helmet sits or wraps around my head. It allows me to see more than my other three helmets. The width is exceptional as well. I can see my nearly my entire peripheral vision with little hindrance. I almost have to turn my head to see the sides of my visor, or the edge of the helmet. Outside of what I consider outstanding vision, it comes with a pinlock ready shield AND a free clear pinlock insert. No need to spend another $30 or more for an insert although a light smoke would've been my preference. 9.5/10 or Prime motivated BJ Penn Ventilation/Airflow Again, I wish I had my RF-1100 so I could compare but I don't and so this is where it gets a bit washy. The ventilation and airflow on this is excellent, much better than the Multitec and CL-17. Immediately I could feel the airflow from the top vent, free air just coming in. I want to say the top ventilation was, at the very least, as great as the 1100 but I'm going off what I remember from over a year ago. My head feels massive air coming in and I mean that by helmet standards. With that said, the lower vent feels very substandard. I haven't been on the highway much so maybe at high speeds for a distance and my mind will change but as it stands, very substandard. I felt the 1100 had more air flowing through the chin vent and the CL-17 DOES have a bit more airflow as well. Because of that, the rating will go down quite a bit. If it was just based on the top vent, it'd be a 9. All things considered, still more airflow than the CL-17 but not quite as much as the RF-1100 and slightly above average. 7/10 or Frank Trigg Noise Level Oddly enough, maybe it's the shape of my head but this helmet is noisier than the RF-1100 and my CL-17. It's about the same as the modular Multitec. I was a bit disappointed and this is one area that I don't think will get better with time. Even though it has a great chin curtain, the air doesn't seem to seal around my neck well and that's where the air enters. I've taken my hand and put it around my neck (like a single hand chock) and it's eerily silent and I don't feel like my neck is that thin so I'm not sure why. This is the one true knock on this helmet and will receive my lowest rating although I wear ear plugs if I ride longer than 10 mins on the highway. 5/10 or Shonie Carter Weight This is where this helmet really excels and could be seen in the comfort/fit section; there's a reason it's so comfortable and while the liner plays a huge role, the weight or lack thereof is equally important. As I mentioned earlier, immediately after putting it on and feeling that soft plush feel, the helmet sort of just vanishes. The vision is great, liner wonderful, and helmet so light that I literally didn't feel the helmet. I must say that I've have never owned a CF helmet so I am not sure how that would feel and I know that would likely be lighter but I looked at the stats this morning and sure enough, I was not deceived by my senses or that new gear feeling. My XL came in at 1576grams/3.47lbs. While I don't have my RF-1100, I do have the stats available online. The RF-1100 in XL is 1746grams/3.85lbs. The HJC CL-17 in XL came in at 1754grams/3.87lbs. While the numbers seem small, I really do feel a HUGE difference. 9/10 or Chuck Liddell Overall: I was hesitant to get another HJC due to the CL-17 feeling like just a decent helmet but nothing special like my two previous Shoei helmets. This RPHA-10 changed my mind completely. I honestly don't believe I could get anything at $199 and get all the things I got here. Overall, I would have to give the helmet 8/10 or Johnny Hendricks If you want a helmet for $200 or less and not worry about it feeling less than "premium", this is definitely the one to get. I will update this in two weeks and see how things go. PS, my heart feels like this helmet is a 9.5 mainly due to how great of a deal it was but my head stabilizes things and tells me it's an 8 right now after 65 miles and two days. August 27, 2015

A shopper asked: If in a raining situation , will i be neat and dry if i close out all the vents? Aug 31, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (1) No (0)
Jerome B: Completely dry? No. But no premium race-level helmet will keep your head completely dru. The top of the rpha-10 helmet has 2 holes, which lead straight to the inside of the helmet for breathability, wicking of inner odor and moisture, and aerodynamic function. I have been stuck in pooring rain for 2+ hours twice and my head was barely wet (just a few drops).

The holes can easily be taped, considering they are about 1/8 inch in size each.

The only down side, if any, of this helmet are the 2 holes on the top. But the light weight, great wind deflecting, easy visor system, and bang for the buck premium helmet pricing vastly outweighs the one "downside".

Hope this helps!

Kelly H: If you close the chin and to cents you will stay dry.But this us a sport bike helmet, and sport bikes have almost no rain protection for your head. you will get wet, but the rain will not be coming through vents, it will be down your back and chest first. I have been stuck in the rain. But by the end of it all of me was at least a little damp. Sep 5, 2013

Mihailo D: I have never been in a raining situation with this helmet, but IMO you should be fine and dry. Only concern are two vents that can't be close, but I don't think much rain will go inside throughout those. Sep 4, 2013

Ondre C: I've yet to ride during the rain since I've had this helmet so I wouldn't know. I can definitely feel the difference when the vents are closed though. Regardless, you'll still look good Sep 6, 2013

A S asked: One question, i am going to buy this helmet no doubt about it. But on the size chart i am a 22 on the dot... Would i buy a small or should i go with a medium? I know i wear a medium AGV but the area just behind the cheeks are a little loose. I have a narrow face so im not sure which to get and i know the exchange policy is painless, would just like to get it right the first time. Jun 24, 2014

Adam K: Yea a medium sounds like it will be a good fit for you,I've had medium in avg before and found them tight too,but this hjc is a better fit, only thing is it feels tight at first but wear it for a few days and it will be shaped to your head, and just in case you live over seas from revzilla, make sure they mark the delivery down as a "gift"!!! They put my helmet down as merchandise and I got hit with a )€80 import charge which is about $100!!! But other then this i am still very happy with this helmet Jun 24, 2014

Jesse C: This helmet fit is amazing, I'm a chubbier cheek guy it seems :-/ but the pads fit nicely and not squishing my face.. I have a large head and had hjc before and stayed with same size, this one is by far comfortable and nicer fit, as well as feeling lighter! The pads are very soft and feel just right... I would stay with the sizing chart it worked face is narrow also but the cheeks... If that concerned order smaller, than u can go up in size to be sure... Jun 25, 2014

Earkes S: I would go with the small helmet. One thing I like about HJC helmets is that there more narrow for folks who don't have round heads. Go with a small you will like it. This Helmet is not as quiet as I thought it would be for the price, but it makes up for it in fit, comfort, and ventilation...great purchase! Jun 25, 2014

Clement N: If you want a snug fit, definitely go with a Small as the cheekpads are quite soft. I am usually sized right in the middle of most Mediums, but my helmet could be a bit more snug. Jun 24, 2014

A shopper asked: One of the reviews mentioned that this helmet is good for track but not so for street use (the vents will only do justice at high speed) . I dont really track on my bike and mainly use it on urban settings (stop and go traffic). I also use it mainly during summer so i'm wondering if this helmet would suit summer riding on urban setting, given that i wont be going high speed most of the time? Oct 9, 2013

Minh N: I also only use this helmet for street, wouldnt find any problem with the ventalation. It is pretty decent if you ride over 40km/h.if below that u could open the visor. The head angle also has quite an impact on the ventalation.if you tilt your head down a bit like racing position, it will suck more air. abel r: Don't let the track reference scare you off! I own both the Megello and the RPHA 10 and the air flow us just fine. On a super hot day if I'm not getting the full flow of air I just open all the vents and crack the shield open one click, it won't come flying open so don't worry but it will give you more air flow. (No high speeds when doing this) Comfort and air flow is good and the graffix will surely please you! Buy it! Oct 9, 2013

Patrick M: I doesn't have much venting when you go slow. But normally when I ride in traffic, I have my visor open so its still cool enough for me. This helmet is a masterpiece. You can't even notice its weight on your head. All I have to say is its worth the money. Oct 9, 2013

Carlton S: This helmet provides ample airflow with multiple vent adjustments. Comfort, reliability, and fit makes this an all around head protection equipment that performs consistently in the Miami humid and hot environment. Well recommended. Oct 9, 2013

Ondre C: As much as I would love recommend it because this is a beautiful helmet, I wouldn't recommend it for stop and go traffic. The airflow system is designed more for medium to high speed rides (track, canyon, freeways). Oct 9, 2013

john m. m: I got my HJC RPHA about a month ago just before leaving on a 1000 trip around PA. I didn' have time to get a tinted shield so the clear was my only choice. I experienced some rain, some night riding (very little) and a lot of bright sun. I used a pair of polorized sunglasses mostly. Riding west into the setting sun has always created a problem which I solved by using a piece of colored tape across the top 1/4 of the visor - great help. The problem with tinted shields is at night - you just can't see details. It's almost a toss-up but sometimes you need both on a trip. Hope that helps. I also used a pair of clear safety glasses with 1.5 magnifiers for looking at details on maps. Jul 23, 2014

Helmet is very light fits great and flows air like crazy.

I have higher priced helmets that have trouble measuring up to the RPHA :)
