HJC CL-Y Youth Razz Helmet
One shell for kids and adults, different liners
This is a great value-quality helmet, cheap and good quality, good exterior design and comes a nice pink color for a girl, the only possible issue is the weight, this is meant to be a growing-up helmet, I mean, it is for kids to wear, kids grow so fast so you probably will have to buy 2 or 3 different sizes in 3 years, this helmet solves that, having same shell size for different ages, the only change are internal liners and cheek pads, thicker or thinner, this idea sounds good but the problem now is weight, too much for a 5 year old girl, will have to wait a little more to wear it with out tiring her neck to much, any way, it cost around 34 dollars to get liners for next size.

Poor quality, cheaply made, HJC is a lousy company
All of the moving parts on this helmet are cheap plastic. The breath shield is a joke and cracks easily. The base plates for the visors are flimsy and are held in by cheap plastic screws. It's like a toy. It's difficult to change out visors -- if it's not perfectly lined up, your visor will come flying off! I would never buy this helmet for a kid let alone an adult. HJC warranty policy is terrible -- they do not stand behind their products. Don't waste your money or risk your our your child's life with this garbage helmet! Helmet is also noisy (whistles!) and ventilation is minimal. Padding is poor quality and the snaps don't even line up right. Try a different brand.

Daughter is happy.
I bought a pink size large for one of my daughters. (6.5 yrs old) It seems to be of typical HJC quality for the price and she is very happy with it. Her head size is just at the max of this line (~21.25" if I recall) and it fits nice and snug, but she gets a slight hot-spot on her forehead. I am thinking these may be more of a round head-shape, and she is probably in neutral shape territory. I wanted to get her an adult small or XS, but she is just too petite for the adult shell sizes, as they interfere with her ability to hang on to dad properly without neck discomfort. (siblings' HJC-made small adult shell size used as reference.) Given her high opinion of the product and the relative infrequency of use, I will accept the hot-spot issue until she grows into larger options.
The Sena SMH5 clamp mount, speakers and wired mic worked great with this helmet, allowing me to hear a steady stream of "Wheeee!" from the seat behind me.
