Not much of a difference
I bought the XL cheek pads to replace the large size cheek pads that came with my helmet. The thinner pads didn't seem much thinner at all. I thought that the next size would be a much more noticeable difference.

My cheeks thank me!
No, not those cheeks, silly. The ones on my face.

You do your research, you pick out your helmet, and you are lovin' it but... you find out that your face is getting pinched in by the ample sized cheek pads the helmet came with.

Sure, you bought it like that because it came with those, and you were thinking "they'll break in!" But the reality is you're just that chubby in the facial sides area (think Liev Schreiber... oh, ok, fine, think Kevin Smith before he slimmed down... FINE, ok, John Goodman then. Geez. Everyone's a critic.)

So you break down. You buy the smaller cheek pads because your face hurts (and it's killing others) And you can't stand to be chomping the insides with your molars anymore.

You get them in... and it's almost as if Heaven itself opened the Pearly Gates, and let the awesome beams of freedom happen upon your face. Well, the cheeks anyway.

Buy them. Even if you don't have an HJC CL-17, you need these things. You can mod your pillow for awesome sleep at night, or just wear them as a statement of how good and nifty they be.

Trust me. You want.

Fixed my Helmet
My Medium CL-17 was too loose and leaked a lot of air. I went up one size on the pads and after breaking them in the wind noise is not a problem.

Work great
Cheek pads, what can you say. They're comfortable, install easily and stay in place. That's all that matters.

CL-17 Cheek Pad Reducer
Original helmet size was good, but pads were to large and squished the cheeks. Ordered the one size down and fits perfectly like a glove. Very good quality and a breeze to swap out.

Works well
Stock check pads were just a bit too large so I ordered the next size down. They snapped in perfectly and made a big difference.

Still a little tight
Maybe they will break in but I bought the biggest size (thinnest pad) and still feels tight

Fat face needed thinner pads.

The Large helmet was too tight on the cheeks. I want to try another size cheek pad.

Want to try switching the 35mm cheek pads which were a little tight on my fat face for a smaller size in the "LG" helmet.
D M on Jan 7, 2015
My head is just proportioned differently. Ive tried xxl helmets and they are too lose on me and xl is a little too snug so I opted to try the bigger cheek pads and found my perfect fit.
Gilberto T on Oct 18, 2014
The standard 30mm cheekpads don't fit tightly enough on my face, so I ordered one size thicker.

NOTE: I found these cheekpads online for US$24.99 on another site, but I didn't want to go through the hassle of getting a price match for only $0.20.

Bought a HJC CL-17 and love it. Cheek pads were to restricting and hoping the thinner pads will make the difference.
Robert B on Aug 1, 2014
I purchased the xsmall pads because my helmet was a little loose. These pads helped for a while but I eventually had to purchase a smaller helmet.
ERICA F on Jun 30, 2014
I bought the cl17 in 2xl thinking I needed the 2xl size. I really wish I bought the helmet here so that I could get the right size (medium according to the chart). Now i have to get some thicker pads so that my helmet doesn't just slip on to my head.

Hi, I bought the helmet HJC CL-17 Mission size Large. The cheek pads are a bit tight so I would like to buy cheek pads that may be not as thick. Could you tell me what size should I get? Thank you
A shopper on Jul 11, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Hello. I bought the cl-17 about a month ago in x-large after trying it on at a local shop knowing the cheek pads were too tight (very uncomfortable). I bought the xxl pads and it fits comfortable now but not too loose. Combined price for both items was cheaper than helmet alone at the local shop. Definitely recommend.

I have a CL-17 size LG. I want a tighter fit on the cheeks so is my only option to get the XS pads? Is there any difference other than the thickness? XS pads in a LG helmet seems like they would be too small even if they're thicker.
A shopper on Jul 31, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I had the opposite problem. My large CL-17 fit great on top but the pads made my cheeks push up so much I looked like a chipmunk. I ended up going down two sizes to the 25mm ones. The only difference I can see between them and the ones that came with the helmet were the thickness. They fit exactly the same into the helmet and are the same length. It looks like the XS at 40mm are your only option for thicker ones. Good luck and hope it gets the fit right for you.
I have a medium helmet that fits well but, I have large cheeks. However, I am not sure what size cheek pads to get. should I get large cheek pads or smaller cheek pads? Which size would have smaller thinner pads that would add a more comfortable fit for a person with a wider larger cheek size?
Gordon D on Apr 17, 2014
I purchased a lg cl17 helmet and the fit is good besides the cheek area. It is rather tight pushing my cheeks into my bite and also makes it hard to talk. What size would you suggest to give me more room?
A shopper on Apr 17, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I had the opposite issue when buying the medium helmet. I bought the small liner and cheek pads. They do push my cheeks in more than the medium. Over time they have loosened, but I'd rather have the helmet fit snug than loose. If yours fit uncomfortably tight then you may have to go two sizes up, which only be an option if you bought a large. With the medium I can go small or extra small I believe.
I have small HJC, your OEM chart shows 35MM and they are snug. Should I go to 30MM?
Alan C on Jul 29, 2016
BEST ANSWER: helmets are supposed to fit snug, especially when new. They will break in slightly. when in doubt, measure and go with the size chart.
