HeliBars Riser for Yamaha FJR 1300 2006-2015
Really Improves the Ergonomics
I purchased a brand new 2015 FJR, and while I fell in love with the bike from the test ride, I knew that I'd be needing to get the handlebars up and back. This riser kit from Helibars does the trick --- and it's especially nice having the easy connection for a Ram Mount (which I purchased --- the bolt in ball mount with a small extension). Great for the smartphone! But most importantly, my rider position is now perfect (and yes, I'm 53 years old, so my days of having all that wrist pressure from an aggressive rider position are over). Get this kit - you won't be disappointed. Oh ... I had the dealership install mine. Glad I did.

FJR1300 + HeliBars Riser + RAM Base + RAM X Grip + Sena = :-)
Raising the handle bars as well as adding the X Grip to hold Phone / Garmin with Sena in Helmet transforms daily commute into a better experience. Since there is a brake line extension, took to dealer for install to avoid any issues with safety or paint.

Great product, quick delivery.
I have just had these installed on my 2014 FJR1300ES and have only had the chance to use them from the mechanic to my home (10km) AWESOME! I am 5'8" and this has made my bike soooo much more comfortable. I am going for a longer ride on the weekend and should be able to really feel the difference.
These bars have changed my bike into something even more comfortable than I could have imagined.
My only problem in the fitting was that I was stopped at the need for a 36mm socket in order to remove the steering head nut. That is why it went to the mechanic to get finished off. If I had that socket I would have done the entire install myself.

Game changer for comfortable long distance riding
Wow, what a difference! These well made risers not only raise the handle bars but also bring them closer to the rider for a comfortable upright position that really helps with making long days in the saddle much more comfortable. I thought it might affect my corning, but it doesn't - it's only a little less stable when making very tight u-turns at very slow "walking speed" which is minor in comparison to what you gain in rider comfort. It definitely helps put the "T" in touring for me on my FJR. The instructions are very detailed with loads of pictures to help with the installations which will take you a few hours.

Made quite a difference in the riding position.
The stock FJR 1300 puts me in a way too aggressive position for touring. I tried 1-3/8 risers but I was still putting too much pressure on my wrists and the handlebar angle was too narrow.
The Helibars helped a lot. I'm riding more upright though I would like a wider angle still. I haven't tried the middle position yet though I've been on a 3 hour ride. The narrowness and setback interferes with my Givi top bag - when parking or slow speed turns the bag sets off the flashers on one side and the horn on the other. I have to take the bag off to lock the bike.
The installation isn't bad, though routing the cables is difficult as another has said. Even so, in the further most rearward position the cables are quite tight which concerns me a little. But to improve that the way it should be would require custom cables and that's further than I want to go.
All in all, the improvement in the riding position was worth the money and the time. It took me about two hours to do the installation and I'm pretty handy.
I suggest using the instructions on the Helibar web site as the pictures are much easier to make out than the printed version they send you.

Worth every penny
I got this riser to relieve pressure on my elbows, wrists, and hands. My hands would tingle after an hour or so even when thigh gripping the tank and installing foam grip covers.
I cannot comment on the ease of install as I had it done at the local Yamaha dealer. The tech was happy to have detailed pictures of each step and the install took just under 2 hours and cost $130.
There are no "set" positions as the description states. There is a semicircular cutout in the riser that you rotate the bars on. I have tried the bars at three different placements and found the most comfortable to be in the middle. The most forward placement put pressure on my elbows as only the height is increased. At the most rearward placement the bike seemed awkward at low speeds. Changing placement of the bars takes 5 minutes tops.

Installed FJR Helibars today - RECOMMEND
Just installed HeliBars Riser on my 2010 FJR and then took about an hour's worth of ride. Substantial difference in posture! I was always somewhere in between leaning forward or back and that lead to a 'tentative' riding experience when it comes to feeling in control from a forward leaning sport bike posture to the inability to sit fully back and relax for a touring posture.
Did a whole bunch of research and landed on the HeliBars. Ordered from RevZilla, got some dough off the price due to my RevZilla points, free shipping and they were here in about four days including a weekend.
Installation was not necessarily the 1.5 hours HeliBars sometimes advertises (keep in mind I am not an avid modder). However including some socializing and making an afternoon of it, my brother and I started at 2pm and I was test riding by 430pm. The toughest part for me was rerouting the throttle cables and hooking them back up (not a lot of room for hands down in there).
On the post-install ride, I was completely upright in the seat, felt more in control and my hand and arm positions were much more comfortable. The difference in steering took about 3 miles to get used to. Looking forward to a longer solo ride and also one with a passenger to see the full benefits.
Nice product from HeliBars, nice service from RevZilla.
