Givi Engine Guards Engine guards were fairly straight forward to install. Works great and I'm able to mount a set of highway pegs on the guards. I have the McCruise cruise control on the Tenere. Only glitch I ran into, and it's not Givi's fault, is that the one support for the guard on the front of the engine goes right through the area where the McCruise cruise control component is located. I was able to modify the mount to fit around the McCruise and it worked out well. August 24, 2015
Better than expected After reading reviews I was a little worried that these guards wouldn't be very durable. After getting them and installing them I feel my bike is safe from falling over off road. The guards mount very sturdy and are quite heavy. They may not be the prettiest option but they are one of the cheapest. As with all GIvi products I own the directions are terrible. Good thing the install isn't too bad. PS You need a long 6mm hex key for install. July 7, 2015
Good crash bar for light use. If you plan on dumping your bike several times I'd recommend an upgrade. For an occasional tip over these will work just fine. Weld's were not as clean as I'd like. You need a very long hex tool that also doesn't come with the bar to install. Overall you get about what you pay for. December 5, 2014
Great investment!!!! I purcheae this crash bars after 2 week of geyting my motorcycle and let me tell yoh is the best thing i ever spend money on because 2 days ago someone just hit and the first thing that hit was the right side of the bars and the bike went down on the left side and let me tell you that this bars save me a lot of headache and money right now and protect tbe bike 100% , im very happy with this product and i highly recomendet !!!great price great product very worth it September 1, 2014
Looks awesome, feels sturdy, good investment! Out of the box: they look awesome, the fit and finnish are impressive. Installation: the instructions are...well...somewhat confusing. I did alot of "hit and miss" on the install. Hint: start in the middle and work your way out...meaning: install the guards last. Also, have both metric and inch tools available, as I had to use both...odd! I hope I never have to use them, but regardless, money well spent. August 11, 2014
Good guards, great price. These engine guards may not have the cleanest welds or perfect alignment at the weld points, but at the end of the day they are just crash bars. For the price paid, I'm extremely satisfied. June 23, 2014
this crash bar looks great on the tenere looks great and the black color goes good with yamahas black. the paper directions that shipped with the product were not good but it was simple to figure out. i would highly recommend ! April 22, 2014

if i get the GIVI crash bar for my super Tenere, will i still be able to remove the plastic cover sidings with the bars still on?

Mark B: Yes, you will be able to remove the side covers. I have done it several times on mine to add accessories. It is a tight fit, but I have not had any scratches or other problems. Enjoy the Tenere. Apr 12, 2014

david a: Yes you will. It's only slightly harder because you have slide them out from under the bars. I'd say 45 seconds vs 30 sec without bars.

Hope this helps.

Michael H: Yes both side will come off without removing the guards. The right side needs to slide and be carefully slide off but you can still get to tools, battery or fuses pretty easliy Apr 12, 2014

A shopper asked: Hi, I have a 2010 XT1200Z Super Tenere. I have the OEM Yamaha crash bars on the bike already, which cover the engine and the front of the bike. I am looking at more protection to the areas that the Givi upper crash bar covers. Does anybody know if the Givi upper crash bars are able to be fittied whilst still keeping on the OEM Yamaha crash bars? Any help would be appreciated, Cheers, Brad. Jul 26, 2015

Brian W: The givi bars use the holes where the plastic guards went and all 4 bolt holes on the front of the bike. I don't know where the OEM one mounts to but I'm guessing there will be an interference. Jul 26, 2015

Susan S: The Givi almost certainly won't have the clearance to overlap the factory bars. Jul 26, 2015
