Easy to install
Hope to never need it but nice to have it installed on my new bike.

The bars themselves seem great, but...
So, the crash bars themselves seem great and look the part, following the contours of the bike very well but the replacement fasteners that Givi supplies suck. They seem to be made of some kind of very weak pot metal. I broke two of them with hand tools just tightening them onto my bike. Their instructions don't list a torque spec so you pretty much have to just do it by feel. Pro tip: 80 lb/ft is more than enough to break the heads off them.
Fortunately I was able to remove the v-shaped bracket that the motor attaches to to give me enough room to grip the remains of the broken bolts and back them out using some pliers.
I'm heading out to my local hardware place to see if I can get some suitable replacement bolts now.

Givi TN3101 Engine Guards Suzuki Vstrom 650 2012-2015
Overall a good product. The guards follow the lines of the bike well. Lots of value for the price.
The directions leave something to be desired..Not sure torque specs or if the use of LocTite is recommended.
The flange that bolts to the bike rotates around a screw. This may be less durable than a welded flange or may be beneficial as a break point under stress. It made the install a bit more of a PITA but maybe having the extra wiggle room makes install overall a little easier.

Decent product, nice finish, looks nice.
Durable powder coating. Sits close to the bike should protect most plastic and the radiator.
Took a bit of muscle to get the last double set of bolts to line up. Looks nice on the bike. I hope to never find out how well they work!!
If I did major off road work with numerous drops anticipated I'd buy something tougher but for my riding it should be fine.

There are better engine guards out there but expect to pay twice as much. So unless your planning to ride some rough off road areas and drop your bike frequently there is no reason to buy the heavier grade engine guards. Also do yourself a favor and use an 6 mm allen wrench socket set with 3/8 inch breaker bar to remove frame bolts and then mount guard. I like the look along with its function.

Best Engine Guard
Personally, I think this is the best looking engine guard for the Vstrom. It follows the contours of the bodywork and blends in with the styling. I've used Givi engine guards before, and found them to be of high quality and finish at a very reasonable price.
Installation was a breeze with a complete parts list and pictures. Both sides mounted right up with no fiddling or tweaking. Very pleased!
