So far so good with some installation exceptions
This is a well designed and sturdy product. Once installed it's easy to use and seems very solid. Here are a few suggestions that may ease your install.

1. The instructions are for an F series but no worries the G 650 GS has the same back rack.

2. I organized the parts in the box it shipped in so I had everything organized. Grabbed the proper tools too.

3. Remove your license plate. It may make installing the back two brackets easier.

4. The two screws nearest the front of the bike were the problematic ones for me. After you remove the four stock screws, and before you put on the plate, try each screw by itself. Especially the two that are towards the front of the bike. Make note of the angle that is needed to properly seat them. If you don't, you'll be really frustrated trying to get these to start.

5. MOST IMPORTANT! Don't tighten anything until all screws have started to thread properly. You'll need the wiggle room to get the angles you need on the front two at least.

Hope this helps! Enjoy and good luck!

Works beautifully
I bought this to put a top case on my G650GS. It took less than 1/2 hour to install, and it holds the top case very securely. I still have complete access to the tiny storage compartment on my bike's luggage rack. The bike looks good with or without the top case in place.

Love it! Note mounting issue with non-Givi side-rack.
Correct fit for my 2005 F650GS. I was looking for a better option than using a backpack. Bike-made backpacks like those from Kriega are $200+. With a compatible Monokey case, this has more capacity and I don't have to carry the load on my back for only $130 more than just a backpack. I can lock my helmet in it when going to the market or other shopping, and it can also be used for touring. This is the best, cheapest option for all my needs: work commuting, shopping, and touring. One note on fitment. If you have a non-Givi side-rack, you'll likely have to modify the mounting plate, as the two holes at the rear won't line up with the posts, since the posts will be offset from their intended location due to the other rack mount bolting onto the same location. Just drill a new hole for each post and get the proper round-head metric screws to secure it. Don't use the original flat-head screws, as the plate is not thick enough to allow you to counter-sink the holes.

Solidly built
Solidly built but had some trouble in mounting it to the bike. It was difficult to get all of the bolt holes to line up - more a problem of the bike itself than of the product. Trouble was worth the effort. I can now swap my Trekker top case between by F650G/S and my R1200G/S.

Great Givi mount, solid build but some Install issues
I have not negative things to say about this mount. It is solid and the material with which the parts are made are light weight yet sturdy. Install is actually pretty easy, just make sure that, if you buy this mount for your BMW F650GS, that you have the exact model bike this mount was made for. It seems this one is specifically for 04-05 models. I bought this mount for my 02 F650GS since the product fitment section in the Revzilla page says that it does fit that model. In the end I found that it "kind of" does. But due to the rear fender of the F650GS being slightly different from 02 and 04 models (the 04 model rear fender has holes on the top of it that this Givi mount takes advantage of as points to bolt on to when installing). The 02 ABS F650GS model does NOT have those holes, so you CAN still install this mount to 02 model, but you won't be able to the way instructions tell you to. You won't be using all the bolts, only 2. End result its still pretty sturdy, but can't say its as sturdy as if installed normally. I still have yet to test this "modified" install with the weight of a Givi topcase. I think it should be fine. All in all the mount is still awesome and would recommend to get it - to do research on bike fitting.

Mount Works
I like that this mount has the extra two posts coming down at the back as opposed to just using the bolts on top of the rack. Feels very solid

Solid
This is a very sturdy rack, it holds my top case very securely. It's a perfect fit on my 2016 G650 GS. The top case snaps into place very easily.

As a few people have noted, getting all four top screws to align with the screw holes on the bike can be tricky. I think I would have fared better if I had put each mounting screw in (without tightening) immediately after I pulled out the screw that was in place, instead of removing all four screws, then trying to line up the four top mounting screws.

Solid Product
As with all Givi Products this is a tough and made to last product. Notably its constructed allowing a good gap to access the rear/tail compartment when the box is not attached.

Will this work with the Givi OBK42A Outback Silver Top Case 42 Liter on a BMW g650gs?
adam l on Aug 18, 2015
Does it block the built in door from opening (the one to access the seat release lever)? I have a '12 G650GS.
Christian J on Dec 31, 2014
BEST ANSWER: i have a different Givi case on 2014 G650GS . You have to take case off to get to access but can be done in 30 seconds.
It seems like this rack can carry up to 6kg (13lbs). The Gigi Trekker 46LTS almost weights the same being empty. Is the load capacity for this product correct? If so, that implies you can only carry less than a kilo using the Give case?
A shopper on May 11, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The rack (and both Givi Monokeys I own) is stout . The wt limit is driven by riding balance issues more than strength in my opinion. I regularly ride with 10-15lbs in my Trekker 46 topcase on an F800GS; the G650GS rack is stronger.
What are my options for top cases with this SR685 top case rack plate?
