Givi PLR450 Rapid Release Pannier Racks for Kawasaki Versys 650

The PLR450 Rapid Release Side Case Racks provide an easily removable mounting option for Givi Monokey Side Cases. The quick release function allows riders to remove the side case racks from their motorcycle quickly, without having to go through the pain of unbolting them from the subframe.

Note: Top rack, top and side cases are sold separately.

Terrific Support for my Givi Cases!
A 'Git er Done' kind of support system for my Givi E21 cases! Close-to-the-bike form factor keeping the center of gravity ideal and not too high. Very good design in terms of on-and-off maintenance when you want to lose them (I never take them off though). Decent enough casted steel materials and powder coated durability.

The OEM instructions are poor, so plan on gaining installation advice from a user forum. I'd recommend extending your back-end left- and right-blinker wires by 6 inches to ease the burden of the install. [I personally prefer to splice wires via soldering and heat shrink tubing]. I drilled a 5/8" hole into my plastic and installed a rubber grommet so the wires transgressed into the underseat electrical area. And if you're not electrically and/or mechanically proficient, you WILL swear during this job. But it will be worth it.

Sturdy, easy to install but...
This was delivered fast with no issues. The Racks were easy to install however, if you don't have the case mounting for the top of the bike you will need to purchase the 450 Kit so the racks can mount fully to the bike. I don't believe this should be a seperate kit to me as you have to have the two spacers that come with the kit unless you go to a hardware store and can find these spacers. Even then you will have two connection points that are not connected unless you purchase the kit or the top mount. The toughest part of this was moving the lights back as the wires on the my 650 Versys were not long enough to extend back, so I had to purchase some wire to extend these lights and drill a hole in the bud flap to get the wires through. All in all worth it however.

GIVI stands for quality and horrible installation instructions
Anyone who's added a GIVI kit to their bike knows the pain and frustration involved in reading their instructions, getting everything to fit, and REMEMBERING NOT TO TIGHTEN ANYTHING UNTIL EVERYTHING IS IN PLACE. (that's a hint for any of you who haven't added a GIVI rack yet.)

Once it's on, it's glorious, bulletproof, and solid as a rock. Getting there involves a lot of wrenching, trial, error and cursing.

Will this rack still be able to be installed correctly if I have eliminated the rear fender? I have a Yoshimura Fender eliminator kit on my 2012 Versys.

Thank you,

Conrad
