Once on the bike, it works great. Getting it there is a challenge. The biggest complaints about this product are about how awful the installation instructions are. Fortunately, I found a post on the BMW Luxury Touring forum that provided real and detailed instructions. Without that, I would never have figured this out based on what Givi supplied and probably would have returned the product. It's still a challenge (long narrow fingers would help) but once fitted it works perfectly fine, holding the Givi case I already owned and being able to mount it easily and securely on my newer bike. When I saw so many complaints about how poor the instructions are, I thought, "C'mon, I've done this before on other bikes. How hard can it be?" Well, without help, close to impossible. It also tough to line it up correctly but it can be done. With really good instructions, it took less than an hour and the end result is a secure product that works fine. It’s not as pretty as the stock rack without it, but, oh well. November 23, 2015
Easy to install, works perfectly I had another bike and a couple of GIVI cases that I'd switch out depending on how much room I needed. When I bought the BMW I wanted to use the cases and do the same thing. I bought to adapter which is a fraction of anything that BMW sells and installed it in 20 r 30 minutes and was good to go. I recommend both the adapter and the GIVI system to anyone looking for a modestly priced but very useful system. June 15, 2015
This unit can be moved back from the seat. Great product, very strong and easily installed. This unit can be moved back away from the passenger seat to allow the passenger more room. Keeps the little woman happy. March 2, 2015
Perfect I useD the rack to install a 58ly Givi outback tracker aluminum case to my 2013 RT the same case that I use on my 2015 adventure now I can use the same top case for both bikes so I will always have all my essential gear with me February 9, 2015
Just the mount The directions are not that helpful.... But after A few minutes (about 30) it was on. I don't leave It on the bike full time, and it goes back on in Like 7-10 minutes. September 15, 2014
best value Good topcase at a good price. One odd thing is the key cannot be removed with the case open, the case has to be closed and locked to remove key. I could open and close my old topcase without the key which was nice for most uses. when I hooked up the light, I stripped the end of each wire and put it directly on the taillight connector the motorcycle wiring snaps onto. This prevented having to splice into the motorcycle wiring. Works great. August 4, 2014
Givi E193 Topcase Rack I own an '06 R1200RT and I was surprised how easy it was to install. Nothing technical, just a simple layout and easy install. The pictures were a bit difficult to read, but the ease of install made up for it. April 21, 2014
New top box for my BMW I was looking for a quality top box for my 2013 BMW R1200RT and thought the OEM product was way over priced. Checked all after market box available and chose Givi. Very easy to install and is rock solid on my bike. The color matches the mate black of my 90 Anniversary special edition. September 16, 2013

A shopper asked: I have a 2008 BMW K1200GT
I am looking for a back trunk that will attach to the my existing BMW mounting plate.
Big enough to hold a full face helmet. I will also need a back rest pad on this.

Do you have this product and what is your recommendation?

Stephen K: I purchased the top case for an 06 RT with the adapter plate in December. What little use I got during Cleveland winter is enough to say its pretty nice, will hold 2 full face helmets. I'm not crazy about the look of the mounting pad when the case is off. But I will leave mine on most of the time. Fit and finish are good quality. Don't buy the recommended back rest as it is positioned in a completely useless area of the case. It's at the top and leaves no lower support where a passenger would want it. Better with no pad or I'm going to find a wide one that will fit right in the center. I put the lid cover on mine so I could paint it to match. You can order OEM color matched spray cans in a really nice kit that includes primer, clear coat, color coat with all necessary components to paint it yourself from ColorRite. Mine looks like it was a factory option.

It's a little tricky installing the mounting pad to the OEM rack. Use a telescopic magnet to hold the screws from the top so you can align them through the plates and get the nuts on. Then you can easily find the ideal position of the pad and tighten it down.

Ride safe,

Peteris S: I am very happy with mine. It is attached to my '06 R1200RT. Not sure if this is what you were looking for though.
The Givi trunk I purchased from a friend of mine (who upgraded), so I purchased the mounting plate when I couldn't get it to fit at all.
But I am very happy. Without the trunk, the Givi plate is a plain black, not obtrusive, almost looks like it belongs. When it is attached, I ride 2-up with my 11 year old son, and he's really comfortable back there. The mounting plate hides under the trunk well, you can't even see it.
I have the larger Givi, and it holds 2 full-face helmets.
I hope I answered your question.

A shopper asked: Will this product (Givi E193 Topcase Rack R1200RT 2005-2012) fit on a 2013 RT? I understand that the years given end at 2012, but I don't think that there is any difference in the tail rack on the 2013 model from those previous year models.
