A shopper asked:I have a 2008 BMW K1200GT I am looking for a back trunk that will attach to the my existing BMW mounting plate. Big enough to hold a full face helmet. I will also need a back rest pad on this.
Do you have this product and what is your recommendation?Feb 14, 2015
Stephen K:I purchased the top case for an 06 RT with the adapter plate in December. What little use I got during Cleveland winter is enough to say its pretty nice, will hold 2 full face helmets. I'm not crazy about the look of the mounting pad when the case is off. But I will leave mine on most of the time. Fit and finish are good quality. Don't buy the recommended back rest as it is positioned in a completely useless area of the case. It's at the top and leaves no lower support where a passenger would want it. Better with no pad or I'm going to find a wide one that will fit right in the center. I put the lid cover on mine so I could paint it to match. You can order OEM color matched spray cans in a really nice kit that includes primer, clear coat, color coat with all necessary components to paint it yourself from ColorRite. Mine looks like it was a factory option.
It's a little tricky installing the mounting pad to the OEM rack. Use a telescopic magnet to hold the screws from the top so you can align them through the plates and get the nuts on. Then you can easily find the ideal position of the pad and tighten it down.
Peteris S:I am very happy with mine. It is attached to my '06 R1200RT. Not sure if this is what you were looking for though. The Givi trunk I purchased from a friend of mine (who upgraded), so I purchased the mounting plate when I couldn't get it to fit at all. But I am very happy. Without the trunk, the Givi plate is a plain black, not obtrusive, almost looks like it belongs. When it is attached, I ride 2-up with my 11 year old son, and he's really comfortable back there. The mounting plate hides under the trunk well, you can't even see it. I have the larger Givi, and it holds 2 full-face helmets. I hope I answered your question.Feb 15, 2015
A shopper asked:Will this product (Givi E193 Topcase Rack R1200RT 2005-2012) fit on a 2013 RT? I understand that the years given end at 2012, but I don't think that there is any difference in the tail rack on the 2013 model from those previous year models.
