A shopper asked:The y-harness I bought to fit into my jacket has one wire about 6 inches longer than the other. Why?Feb 6, 2014
Yep, I had the same question. I'll try to explain.
My battery connection comes out on the left hand side of my motorcycle. So, my Y-harness plugs in on the left, too. The shorter glove wire runs up my left (near side) sleeve, and the longer glove wire runs up my right (far side) sleeve. I'm 5'-9, 230#, and the wires run up my jacket from behind me.
If you connect your harness on the right, then your wires should run opposite of mine.
Sit on your motorcycle and try running the long wire up each sleeve to see which way is more comfortable, while you're plugged in to your battery wire. One way should feel better than the other, and both plugs should easily reach your jacket cuff zipper for connecting your glove plugs.
I hope I've helped you. Take care and safe riding.
A s:The connection at the end of the y-harness will likely end up on one side of the jacket or the other. For instance, I route mine through the left pocket on the inside of my jacket and connect it to a switch. This means that one wire will have a different length to travel than the other to make it down the jacket sleeves, so the different wire lengths allow you to end up with approximately the same length of wire down the length of each arm.Feb 8, 2014
Bobbie B:If you mount the temp controller on your left hip an connect to the y harness, te extra 6 inches helps to route the wire to your right foot or glove. Also, most women like an extra six inchesFeb 6, 2014
