Galfer Sportbike Front Brake Line Kawasaki ZX-6R / ZX-636

Whether you are commuting or hitting the race track, Galfer Sportbike Brake Lines are great upgrade over your stock OEM rubber brake lines. They are constructed of a 64 strand stainless steel braid with a PTFE 62 Teflon inner lining giving them a “zero expansion effect”, this gives the rider a more consistent and confident braking feel.

Most manufacturers recommend replacing the OEM rubber brake lines after 2 to 3 years. Over extended use OEM rubber lines wear down and lose performance.

All Galfer Sportbike Brake Lines consist of two brake lines running from the master cylinder down to each brake caliper unless otherwise noted below.

Great upgrade Bang for buck: One of the best mods you can ever do for brakes Ease of Install: Easy to install, though you must know how to bleed air from the system Performance: Night & Day difference even on brand new bike Finish: I gave it average because the main banjo seemed about .1" too short for my liking and average experience Durability: Good coating, nice finish and will last a long time Can't go wrong with buying these lines! Awesome Very nice brake lines. Definitely makes a difference. No more kinda spongy brakes now its just full braking power with less force. One of the biggest differences on my bike. July 28, 2014
Easy to install and the brakes feel good The brake lines were easy to install, the included instructions were not very helpful, but they weren't really needed. July 22, 2014
Worth the money to upgrade over stock lines My bike's brakes were starting to feel squishy, and after trying everything else I determined that my brake lines were the problem. I ordered the galfer lines and I couldn't be happier. It's plain to see that the galfer lines are more expensive than rubber lines, but I feel that the upgrade was worth it. My front brakes feel much more responsive now, and I don't experience any fade even when I'm riding hard. I was intimidated at first by the thought of installing brake lines on my own, but it was relatively easy. There is a video out there by galfer which explains the process of installing their lines rather clearly. The instructions in the box aren't very helpful, so I would definitely recommend a video guide for anyone else who doesn't know how to install and bleed brake lines. The only problem I had was with a broken banjo bolt during the install, but that was my own full and I was able to use one of the oem ones as a replacement. The bolt broke with little warning, so I would recommend a torque wrench in order to avoid being put in a similar situation. Luckily the kit included extra crush washers, so that wasn't a problem either. June 30, 2014
BUY IT. Little pricey, but very much worth it. These steel braided brake lines provide excellent progressive braking and a super clean look and feel. It's one of those things that you don't know you are missing out on until you try them. You can clean your brakes regularly, swap the fluid out yearly, and swap out brake pads when needed but none of that will fix those dang OEM lines from breaking down and expanding under pressure. You need to be able to control your braking whether you are commuting, pleasure riding, or racing. You want your bike to respond to your input as accurately as possible and old expanding rubber brake lines just don't do that. These are your brakes! Don't risk your OEM lines under delivering when you need stopping power! Installation was a piece of cake. I am very familiar with automotive procedures for brake servicing and bleeding but I still did some research just to be safe. Using a 6 dollar brake bleeder from an auto parts store is all you really need as far as special tools- you can do it alone but it goes quicker with a buddy helping. Galfer also offers instructions online but YouTube is a much better resource in my opinion. This job can get pretty messy so make sure you have nitrile gloves and plenty of shop rags to catch fluid spills, especially because brake fluid is very corrosive. As always, if you are not comfortable installing these yourself you should bring your bike to a professional. Overall, very happy with these and I ended up buying a the rear line as well. I also suggest looking into replacing your fluid reservoir as most OEM ones are poor quality plastic. I got am awesome aluminum one and installed it at the same time. June 5, 2014
Excellent performance, and they look sweet. Steel braided lines, aside form improving performance, are just a nice addition that shows attention to detail. As you would expect from Galfer, these are quality made lines, and, in my humblest of opinions, provide better performance than stock (no give during the tail-end of a long ride) . These are the first lines I have ever changed out, so here is bit of information that I wish I would have had going in (if for no other reason than to ease my mind): I replaced the front brake lines on my 2003 CBR954RR. The CBR has single brake line going from the master cylinder to a splitter mounted to the triple-tree. The Galfer brake line kit has two separate lines; so looking at the kit, it doesn't look right. The Galfer kit, however, has a double feed oil bolt that allows both lines to be attached at the master cylinder; the left line (as you ride) is longer than the right line to accommodate this. The lines have plenty of play without being too long (be sure to re-use the line clamps on the front fender; keeps everything tidy). The stock oil bolts on this bike have 12mm heads whereas the replacements are 14mm. Just making a note as I had to purchase a 14mm socket with 1/2 drive to fit my torque wrench to finish up the job. Well worth the cost. May 29, 2014
