Gold Mirror = Cool
Be aware that the Gold Mirror has more of a bluish hue to it (see picture), but still looks and performs great.
I notice no optical distortion in my main field of view.
You will be cleaning this a lot, it LOVES fingerprints. Make sure you use a soft cloth to do so or you'll scratch it.
I've read other reviews where people had a tough time installing these, but I had absolutely zero difficulty doing so. The instructions are very clear on what to do and only took me a couple minutes from start to finish.

Faceshield
I would like to add that to add this faceshield to the FLY trekker, you really need to buy the RATCHET KIT AS WELL!! otherwise it is a pain to interchange the faceshield from clear to dark etc.

This product is a great all season option.
I wanted a dark smoke visor for the Tekker helmet I've been using for summer riding. I'm very pleased. The dark smoke has turned out to be exactly what I needed to cut down the temp in my helmet on those bright sunny days. It also seals well against rain and wind. Have had no trouble keeping the visor partially open to relieve fogging.
As far as features are concerned, it would be nice if each Trekker visor came with its own ratchet system pieces to make it easier to switch visors with less difficulty.

Gold version is a bit sub-par - oily puddle effect
First, the gold mirrored shield is only going to appear gold under certain light, Where it's directly reflecting appears gold, while everywhere else takes on a blue color. It's impossible to get the shield perfectly cleaned and buffed so the mirroring appears consistent. It reminds me more of an oily puddle than a true mirrored finish. Looking through the lens, I'm not sure if the plastic is a bit uneven or if it's due to the stretched coating, but I think the unevenness is responsible for a small bit of distortion. For the price isn't not a bad deal and it's certainly better than the previous generation of DS helmets.
The AFX FX-39 shields are 100% interchangeable with the Fly Trekker and a much better quality, They are a bit more expensive, but my silver mirrored shield has a perfectly even coating, easy cleaning, and less distortion than this gold Fly one I bought. The silver AFX shield doesn't have any blue-ness to it either.
The shields themselves aren't hard to change, however the little plastic pivot kit is very hard to swap between shields. I would strongly recommend buying a pivot kit for any new shield, then all you need to swap in the future is a quarter (fits/works better than any screwdriver on the metal and plastic screws).

Looks sweet, but cheaply made
First off the "gold" face shield is more of a blue color most of the time from most angles. Smudges and scratches extremely easy as well. Its insanely annoying. However it looks pretty sweet so I suppose that makes up for that. I am not going to change the face shield again unless I have to though. It is a major to change it. Overall its an alright face shield. I wont buy another one though unless this one gets too messed up.

Nice shield
Got the gold tinted shield. Looks great with the Hi-Viz Trekker helmet (think Master Chief). Not terrible to swap out, but does take a few minutes.
Quick shipping and RevZilla had the gold where other retailers didn't. Very satisfied.

shield fits good and looks good.
The shield fits real well but does not come with installation instructions. The clips on the trekker helmet are strange to undo.

Good field of view & little to no distortion. Great price for a mirrored lens. Shade is in between light & dark grey lenses.

We took these helmets apart and they're as close to being identical as they can be. I couldn't find a difference between the shields and shield mechanisms - I think the Trekker shield will fit like a glove.1 week, 3 days ago
