Fly Racing Patrol Pants 3.7 5 3 3
Good for the money Ordered these pants in 38 inch waist, 1 size larger than normal, too small in the waist and legs, returned for 40 inch version. The 40 inchers are maybe 1/2 to 1 inch larger, not much of a difference. When I add safety gear under the pants they are very tight in the knees but they do work, the tightness keeps the armor from moving around I guess. I like the zip off legs, when I stop for a break I can unzip the legs and take some of the pressure off of my knee armor. They are functional and look pretty sporty, I haven't crashed with them on yet so I don't know how well they will protect me, I know its coming and will report the results. February 6, 2014
Love these pants Huge zipper vents front and rear of thighs, for great air flow, and the lowers zip off for shorts, is real nice because you don't zip them on until time to leave, a very nice feature. Two huge pockets, fit two water bottles in each pocket, so I can carry four bottles of water if I don't want to wear a pack, also a very nice feature Third small zipper pocket for a wallet. Small but enough to carry my house key and my license/registration. Too small for any more than that though. My only complaint, which is very minor, the fly zipper has no cloth behind it, so you have to be careful unzipping it, because sometimes you pinch your beer belly unzipping it! No big deal really, it wasn't like in "Something About Mary" or anything, I'm just careful about it, so no problem, and it was just a little pinch when it happened I just laughed at myself and noticed the no cloth there. All in all, love the pants, would buy a new pair every year if I had to, but so far they seem rock solid. Maybe four rides on them so far, lots of wipeouts (enduro type riding), and they are still like new. June 16, 2013
Made it to the fifth ride. I really liked the style and convenience of these guys, and liked the pants, up until the leg zippers stopped working. On about my fourth ride out, I had a good, sliding crash in a big mud hole. When I finished up my ride, I couldn't get the zipper to open. I figured no big deal, got home threw them in the wash, and ta-da, the zipper opened right up. Fast forward to the next ride, sitting at the trail head, getting geared up, and 10 minutes in, I still couldn't get the zipper to stay connected all the way around. No teeth looked damaged, but still could only get it zipped half way before the zipper would stop meshing. By the end of the ride, the vertical zipper on the other leg was wide open with the zipper pull still at the bottom. If it hadn't been for the zippers crapping out, the pants were money. Warm enough in the cold, good air flow with the vents closed, huge pockets. Fabric was holding up well. If it weren't for the fact they are so new, I'd just have the zippers replaced with something quality. Still trying to see what can be done for warranty. Revzilla has always been great in the past. Andrew P asked: What is the abrasion resistance of these pants like? Nov 19, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Roderick M: Andrew,
They are unlined nylon without any armor at all. my experience leads me to think if I fall on the street they would last like jeans. a fall on dirt is another story....as I have tested gravity on several occasions wearing these pants. they are comfortable, the vents do work in the summer time, and I have no cold time in them. I want something with armor more and more. A lighter more breatheable pant is in order I think with armor....lastly I always defer back to an old addage "gravity works"

Jay A: I've had these pants for s year or so. Bailed many times, lots of branches. No tears. Though some some seams are finally starting to separate and the zippers getting a little less reliable.

Otherwise I love the pants though, and when they do go to bad, Good chance I'll buy the same pair again. Excellent venting, huge pockets, and fairly durable.

Christopher R: I have not used these pants in real adverse conditions...although I have worn them while riding my atv and dual sport bike, I cleaned them up with a pressure washer... great fit and seem to be holding up quite well. I wish they had knee pads....I would recommend these. Nov 19, 2013
