Outstanding I ride a 2011 FLHX so I ride in a touring position..with 12.5" Apes..I bought this as a liner to wear under my Langlitz Columbia Jacket..So far I love it I'm 6'2" 225lbs so the XLT fit perfect Its a little loose but thats how I wanted it so I can wear a hoodie underneath on cold days/nights..So far I Love It..also I'm in an MC and this is perfect under my cut...not to warm or to cool and it fits great.. Works great as a liner under my jackets. This softshell jacket is warm and thin enough to act as a nice liner for both my mesh and leather jackets. I use it in place of the liners that come with most of my jackets. I found it to run a bit on the big size, I normally wear a size XL in shirts and jackets (I'm 6'1" and 215), but had to return for a L. The L fit right on the button and slipped under my jackets no problem. Doesn't look too bad off the bike either. February 18, 2014
Excellent Winter Baselayer I'm 6'4" 265lbs and the jacket fits great. I have worn it as a base layer under a couple of different jackets and it has helped keep me warm down to freezing temperatures. I like just wearing it as a jacket off the bike as it looks nice. February 13, 2014
Good coat The jacket is sold as a liner but it happens to be a good jacket just to ride in. I should have bought it bigger so I could wear it over a mesh jacket on chilly evenings after warm days. Only problem with this jacket is the forearms seem a little narrow versus the body. The forearms would not fit over the armor in my mesh. I found for it to be a liner, the body would need to be narrower. I had planned to send it back but I liked it so much as a regular jacket, I kept it...despite the narrow forearms. Blocks the wind, has a micro fleece lining and very comfortable. January 21, 2014
Simple and good mid layer This is a great jacket. I'm using it this fall underneath a non-motorcycle jacket that seeps air and this jacket blocks it and keeps me warm. It's very wearable off the bike as a destination layer and is reasonably warm on its own. I like that it is simple - there is just the main zipper. No cuffs or collar snaps or velcro. The lined sleeves are slippery so it goes and and off easy and quickly without bunching up your shirt. I'm 6'3" 190 lbs with a 41" chest and the size large fits me well. Get one. October 30, 2013
Great as an inner liner I got this for use when air temps range from 40-50 in the morning to 70+ in the afternoon. I've got a windproof and waterproof liner for my mesh jacket, but it takes time to put in and take out and doesn't work well to put on separately. This liner works great for that. I wear an XL in most things, but got this as a Large because I wanted it to be a trim fit. It would be nice if there were panels on the side that would stretch a bit, but it may be hard to do that and make it waterproof. My rides have been much more comfortable because of it. Previously, I would have just worn my fall/winter riding jacket and opened the vents at higher temps, but that isn't ideal. October 8, 2013
Great Jacket... With a Flaw This jacket endeared itself to me very quickly as it's an ideal mid-layer when used over my base and under my Klim (Goretex) Powercross Pullover. It's comfortable and dry from 40's to 70's. The material is excellent and offers no resistance or binding. My outer layer slips right over it with no catching or snagging. It's basic style and comfort are excellent as a destination layer in rain or shine. All that said, it does have one flaw... The zipper. While it does operate easily and normally, it had come off it's track when pulled to the top. This occurred without excessive force and under normal use. I believe the very top track component which is to keep the zipper from ejecting itself has fallen off. The zipper still did work, it just had to be placed back on track and not pulled to the top. I've sent it back to FirstGear (EXCELLENT SERVICE REPRESENTATION) and am awaiting it's return. Funny timing as when I returned from the ride when the failure occurred I was going to place an order for another. As I've seen this problem reported elsewhere I think it may be a systemic problem. If so, I'll just fab some kind of "stop" on the track to keep it from reaching the top... As I simply don't want to ride without this essential (to me) layer. May 12, 2013
Great as a liner or light jacket. The medium was a true fit witch made it slightly too tight to be worn over clothing. I got the large. little loose but works well wen other layers are needed. April 2, 2013

OldManRick: If you wear a 42 sports coat then you will probably be looking at a size Large, but since you're pretty tall then you'll need to consider sleeve length and I wouldn't be surprised if you want a tall, therefore a Large Tall.

Revzilla has a video just for sizing Firstgear; it gives you all the info you need on how and what to measure for a Firstgear jacket. Check it out here:
