Works great as a liner under my jackets.
This softshell jacket is warm and thin enough to act as a nice liner for both my mesh and leather jackets. I use it in place of the liners that come with most of my jackets. I found it to run a bit on the big size, I normally wear a size XL in shirts and jackets (I'm 6'1" and 215), but had to return for a L. The L fit right on the button and slipped under my jackets no problem. Doesn't look too bad off the bike either.

Excellent product
I am 5'8" and 135# with about a 38" chest and the small fits very well, like a European cut. It is warm and is supposed to be both water and wind resistant. Haven't tried it in the rain, but have worn it also without a jacket. Seems well constructed, warm and thin. Would highly recommend it as it is much less expensive than the Rev'it! equivalent (and I have mostly Rev'it! gear at home)

Almost to good.
Almost to god is right, As a wind-blocker it is excellent,
If only the jacket would breath a little better it would be the perfect
piece of gear, as is Its limited to very cold rides, Its almost to warm.
I wore it under my leather astars jacket, @ 35f out & the only problem I had was a little sweat on my back.
It completely stops the wind dead.
I took it for a spin without my over-jacket & was almost as warm.

Simple and good mid layer
This is a great jacket. I'm using it this fall underneath a non-motorcycle jacket that seeps air and this jacket blocks it and keeps me warm. It's very wearable off the bike as a destination layer and is reasonably warm on its own.

I like that it is simple - there is just the main zipper. No cuffs or collar snaps or velcro. The lined sleeves are slippery so it goes and and off easy and quickly without bunching up your shirt.

I'm 6'3" 190 lbs with a 41" chest and the size large fits me well.

Get one.

Excellent Winter Baselayer
I'm 6'4" 265lbs and the jacket fits great. I have worn it as a base layer under a couple of different jackets and it has helped keep me warm down to freezing temperatures. I like just wearing it as a jacket off the bike as it looks nice.

Good fit, great performance.
Fits well, blocks the wind very well. Use as a jacket in cool and cold weather, as an outer layer in 20's, and, of course, as a liner inside my Kilimanjaro jacket when riding in the cold.

Great as an inner liner
I got this for use when air temps range from 40-50 in the morning to 70+ in the afternoon. I've got a windproof and waterproof liner for my mesh jacket, but it takes time to put in and take out and doesn't work well to put on separately. This liner works great for that. I wear an XL in most things, but got this as a Large because I wanted it to be a trim fit. It would be nice if there were panels on the side that would stretch a bit, but it may be hard to do that and make it waterproof. My rides have been much more comfortable because of it. Previously, I would have just worn my fall/winter riding jacket and opened the vents at higher temps, but that isn't ideal.

Soft shell liner in Kilimanjaro
I bought the kilimanjaro jacket with the softshell liner (my son lost the liner which I am now replacing). The liner zips in and is well secured with two/sleeve sanps andlower snaps. After having lost the liner I tried to use a fleece under the jacket. It was very hard to put on and adjust, wheras when I had the liner (with taffeta sleeve lining) it was on and off easily with perfect fit each time.

The only criticism is when the liner is worn by it's self there is no hold down snap for the snap tabs, which then flop around a bit. All in all a good complement to a first gear kilimanjaro (words cannot say how good and warm this jacket is with the liner) but not such a great jacket by it's self.

Great jacket.
Originally purchased to wear under Klim shell with a base layer in 40+ weather. Works perfectly for this application. Will also fit under my warm weather riding jacket for change of temperature at night. Now I do not need to take heated liners with all the wires and controIs. I also wear, when not riding, under my pea coat or leather bomber in very cold weather. Keeps me warm.
Love it.

I hate putting in and taking out the thermal liners included with most m/c jackets. Also, it does double duty as a destination jacket. Saves precious room in my luggage when touring.

Could I fit a slimmer, not SO bulky, (leatt 3df) pressure suit underneath this comfortably? I prefer to wear pressure suits rather than use built in armor in jackets.
Darrin K on Mar 19, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Its a liner so its designed to be snug to fit under your existing shell or jacket. It all depends on your body size and where you fall in the size chart. The leat armor is thin but its probably the elbows that will be tight. You can always exchange.
What size would be best for me? Thanks
A shopper on Dec 15, 2011
BEST ANSWER: If you wear a 42 sports coat then you will probably be looking at a size Large, but since you're pretty tall then you'll need to consider sleeve length and I wouldn't be surprised if you want a tall, therefore a Large Tall.

Revzilla has a video just for sizing Firstgear; it gives you all the info you need on how and what to measure for a Firstgear jacket. Check it out here:

Hope this helps, and Santa finds your house with a warm jacket in his bag ...
I'm looking for a replacement liner to wear under a mesh jacket (primarily my Klim Induction) on chilly mornings when the temps will make me want the mesh later in the day. Does this liner block wind?
PAB629 on Aug 30, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes it does and you can wear it as a light jacket as well. Only feature or lack of is the sleeve openings have no velcro closure to make tight around your wrist. Beside that, made well, and has held up nicely. I'm very happy with its performance.
