Firstgear Sierra Day Glo Rain Jacket 4.7 5 9 9
Good rain jacket This is a well-made rain jacket. It can be packed into a small space, ensuring that you will have enough room to take it with you when you ride. The color is extremely visible, which is important any time - especially in the rain. While this is a rain jacket, it is windproof too and can provide additional warmth when worn over a mesh jacket or even a regular riding jacket. When riding in the mountains, where the temperatures can drop quickly, this jacket can be the difference between a comfortable ride home and a being uncomfortably cold. You can't go wrong Firstgear products. This jacket is no exception to that rule. October 27, 2015
Excellent Protection and comfort This 2 layer product provides excellent warmth and visibility, while being comfortable on just a cool day. Zipper and pocket quality is high. I wear it to ride my Vespa in NYC and like it so much that I bought one for my wife as well. October 19, 2015
Just what I wanted! The pullover that I previously used for rain protection kept me dry BUT it was like wearing a big black trashbag when it flapped in the wind and did NOTHING to make me visible in the pouring rain. I'm delighted with my FirstGear Sierra hi-viz jacket as it easily fits over my FirstGear mesh jacket and can be cinched tight under my arms, at my wrists and around my waist AND it makes me STAND OUT to cagers. Nice, light and easy tailored rain cover I purchased this a few months back to complement the FirstGear Adventure Mesh Jacket. The FGAMJ has an inner rain liner but I prefer a rain jacket shell that will cover everything and this one fit the bill. The Sierra Day Glo is sized to perfectly fit over a jacket of the same label size - that is my Adventure Mesh is a 2XL and the Sierra Day Glo in 2XL is a perfect fit over the Adv Mesh. Personally, I loathe the day glo color in general, but I also understand the need for visibility and especially in darker rainy weather, so I went with the yellow instead of black. The jacket is well made and packs very small, easily fitting in the rear pocket of the mesh jacket. The material is thin, and as such I don't know if it will last for the long term, but it works well and I like being able to toss it on over the mesh when the rain starts. June 16, 2014
Bright and basic Does the trick. Nothing exceptional but adequate. I like how bright it is especially in bad weather February 10, 2014
Great Rain Gear I purchased both the pants and jacket. I'll review just the jacket here. First, I am 5'9" 190lbs. 44" chest and 34" waist 16 1/2" neck. I have a snug fitting Joe Rocket mesh jacket with armor in it that I put on first. it is size LG and fits me perfect. I put the rain jacket over the top of the Joe Rocket jacket. It does fit! The sleeves are long enough to cover everything! The waist, belly and chest are covered with maybe 1/2" of space to spare. This is the first small issue. On my Ducati, I have to lean over a bit and could have used a little more wiggle room, it gets snug! This wouldn't be a problem in an upright riding position. The jacket is long enough to completely cover my waist, in fact, I can sit on the tail of the jacket.....barely. The second small issue for me is the neck is pretty tight over another jacket. It needs to be to keep the rain out but maybe 1/4" more would have helped. The third issue is I hate the built in pocket/pouch the jacket packs into. Way more work than just a simple gear bag to throw it into. Would I buy this set again? EVERY TIME! Super light weight, packs small, great color and reflectivity and it stops the rain as it say's. I added a photo to show the reflective strips. They look black/grey on the jacket but really reflect light! October 4, 2013
Stay dry Great weather protection. Fits over my Joe Rocket riding jacket. Folds up in a nice little pouch. Great design, zippers and snaps work well. The only downside is, if it's warm out, I'd say anything over 75, you're going to be hot. August 19, 2013
Great quality for the price Very satisfied with my purchase! It fits me well and fills very comfortable April 29, 2013

RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?
Ronald H: Had one of these for a couple yrs , it was stolen with my motorcycle in Batesville , Mississippi. Jul 20, 2015
Joseph S: Perfect fit over my Firstgear Adventure Mesh jacket and well made. Chose obnoxious yellow for visibility in rain conditions. Apr 20, 2015
Walfrido Z: Lightweight, packs into itself. Quality is better than other comparable products. HOWEVER, water still manages to get into it between the upper snap buttons; while riding the flap folds back possibly allowing the water to creep in where these buttons are. If Firstgear corrects this, they should have one of THE best rain jacket on the market. Dec 26, 2014
Michael H: I Have a first Gear Tex Mesh riding Jacket and I like it wanted a rain jacket to go with it. Nov 4, 2014
Mark B: I currently have First Gear rain gear, and am very happy with it. I LOVE the built in stuff sack. Brilliant idea! Sep 12, 2014
Jonathan S: after looking at lots of options for waterproof bike gear this seemed the best option. Im a bigger rider and the 4x size will hopefully fit over my mesh jacket. May 6, 2014
Jonathan Y: I believe this jacket will keep me plenty dry but more importantly, help other motorists see me better day and night . Feb 17, 2014
A shopper asked: I am looking whether to purchase an XL or L for the Firstgear Sierra Day Glo Rain Jacket. My current cold weather jacket is an XL, but during the summer months I wear a leather vest. My chest measures 44-45. My concern is if I order the XL, will it be too baggie? If I get a L, will the fit over my cold weather jacket (XL) be too tight? Apr 10, 2014

David P: I have a Large Held Jacket, and the Medium rain jacket fits over it with room to spare. I wear a size 40 jacket normally and the Medium fits over all my riding gear just fine. They are cut large, and I would think a Large would fit over your XL jacket ok, and would be fine over the summer vest as well. If it doesn't you can always exchange it, but I bet it'll fit over both just fine.. Apr 15, 2014

Mark S: I have similar questions when ordering xl vs xxl. It almost always works out that having a little more room is better than being too tight. Last fall we were in Utah and it started raining, the temps dropped 20 degrees in the span on an hour and I was glad to have room to add another layer. Apr 15, 2014

Douglas P: Better too loose than too tight. XL is going to be loose over just a vest. You should be wearing an armored mesh jacket in the summer anyway. I just carry the rain jacket if caught in the rain not for daylong riding in the rain. Apr 15, 2014
