Good Everyday Jacket
Sizing/Fit: I am 5'10" height, ~160lbs, 40" chest, 34" waist
I started out with ordering a size medium, it was way too loose in the chest and shoulder area, so I returned that and got a small - much better fit overall. I have removed the armor, but the small still fits about the same with it in.

Style: I really like the simplicity/cleanness of this jacket, not much for logos. I removed the arm first gear logo badges, it is awesome that they are just stitched on and not also glued. The drop on the back is awesome, long enough to keep covered but short enough that I am not sitting on it.

Durability: For the cost point it is seems to be very well constructed. Stitching is solid, zipper quality is good - have not broken nor had an issue yet with one, the fabric is heavy enough I don't foresee any issues with wear occurring anytime soon, and the fabric cleans up easily.

Comfort: More than comfortable enough to walk around in if you stop somewhere. While riding, it does have a tendency to lift up in the shoulders for me which sometimes is enough to lift the pit seam into the arm pit. This could be due to the style of bike I ride allowing air to flow easily/directly into the wrist area, and only happens at freeway speeds. Due to the waist being closer to a snug fit, I have to unzip the bottom a slight amount to avoid pinching.

Design changes that I would like to see: Either a double zipper on the current back vent or changing to two vertical vents instead of the one horizontal; making the waist just a little larger; and maybe making the inner zipper cover a little less floppy so it does not occasionally catch in the outer zipper.

TL;DR;
Great overall jacket, well worth the price. Sizing seems to require getting a size smaller than what is suggested by the measurements.

Definitely...Bang for the Buck
At under $150.00 this jacket really does give me bang for my buck. Good shoulder, elbow, and forearm protection. With the back compatible with the Klim Viper I will have good back protection as well.

Anthony was not joking when he said this jacket has an American Cut. I am far from a European build and am in the process of getting healthier (losing weight). I ordered the XL and the jacket fits me comfortably welll. Currently there is no room for me to add layers underneath but with another 10lbs lost (currently 250lbs.) this jacket will fit me perfectly.

I commuted home (35+ miles one way) this evening after work with temperatures in the high 40's. Without additional layering (just a long sleeve tshirt on underneath) I did feel a chill BUT I wasn't uncomfortably cold. To add, it felt as though I was in an airconditioned room. With an additional layer, I wouldn't have noticed the cold.

The quality of the jacket seems it will withstand time and wear; only time will allow me to comment on the durability. But this jacket seems well made and just as good a quality as any regular winter jacket that I've invested in. After inspecting the jacket I see no flaws or loose threads. The zippers (external and internal) seem solid and are easy to zip open\closed (no snagging).

I gave I high rating for features for a couple of different reasons. There are good sized hand pockets that zip up well and I think are waterproof (gotta watch the video again). There is a pocket on the interior intended for a cell phone. My Samsung G3 in an Otterbox cover fits in this pocket but the flap won't velcro shut. Had my G3 no protector or a one layered one it would fit perfectly. There is also a pocket that can be accessed near the chest under the first zipper. A good place for my house keys to go into.

As for my Revzilla experience. As with the Alpine Stars boots I purchased from them the video was very helpful in my decision to purchase. I shopped at other sites for better pricing and none could beat Revzilla. In addition, I took advantage of a free shipping promotion. I received my jacket today when I was expecting it tomorrow afternoon. Thanks again Revzilla!

If you're looking for a good quality, protective, and relatively inexpensive jacket I highly recommend Firstgear's Rush Tex. And of course, don't bother purchasing anywhere else...Revzilla is a top notch outfit!

AT LAST A JACKET THAT FITS!!
After ordering the previous iteration of this jacket (XXLT) from a different online seller and sending it back due to poor fit (over sized body circumference, short body length and short sleeve length). I cam across the product video on youtube.com for the 2012 model, and decided to give it a try. I was scared because I had already basically spent $15 (to ship the return back) to try on a jacket that didn't fit, and now was making the same gamble. This time I ordered a XLT (I am 6'5'' 250lbs with long arms). It came yesterday and I was stoked that it FITS!!! The sleeves on the new model are a bit longer as well as the body is a bit longer and has the added drop seat in the back. If I were to change anything, I would make it maybe 1'' longer in the body, but, like I said before, the sleeves are perfect. The zippers are quite difficult to operate, but I hope they will get broken in and a little easier to use. This jacket is fairly warm, but I would not want to ride in sub 50 degree weather with it. Also, an upgrade from the previous version, the armor actually feels like it would help during a crash. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a jacket to fit fairly tall people.

First Jacket - Good Choice
This is my first riding jacket, so I have no experience to compare, but this is a nice jacket. Whatever "American Cut" is this jacket is it - the torso cut is more girth, less length.
I have been in a few real downpours in this jacket and I have had no issue at all. I commute in this jacket with a light sweater underneath and I have never been cold - I can certainly tell it is cold outside but I never feel it through this jacket.
What you get with this jacket is less features and other non-essential niceties but you do get a top rate jacket with all the attention to detail and quality of First Gears higher priced products (as it seemed to me when shopping at a local dealer).
I've only used this jacket in temps up to the low 60's so I can't really comment on the venting but I assume it is adequate. I have been very comfortable and dry in this jacket and I would recommend it without a doubt.

Good stylish jacket
Jacket was exactly what I was expecting. I've only used it a few times becasue its too warm for the 90+ summer days. I also havnt had a chance to try it out in rain. The fit was good, I got a medium so I could fit a sweatshirt underneath it in the winter time. The protection is average. I dont to feel that the jacket would protect me from a fall but do feel that the jacket will save my skin from road rash. The shoulder and elbow protection move a good amount. Comfort is great though and I am a business commenter so the look is great.

WOW great jacket
I bought this in XL size, I'm 5'9 240lbs, XL fits me great, the jacket its full of features, cell phone pocket on the left, "hidden pocket on the left as well, big pocket on the right all internal, a couple of "hand warmer" pockets on the outside.

Two intake vents on the front near the shoulders and one big exhaust vent on the back,.

Reflective piping on the back and front, and the "gears" first gear logo on each sleeve is also reflective while not vulgar or annoying.

CE rated protectors on shoulders and elbows, foam protector on the back, but you can buy a DO3 back protector that fits.

for $150 this is a great value, I use this for commuting to work everyday haven't tested the waterproofing as its not currently raining but it seams like it will hold up fine.

Excellent quality for the money. I'm 5'10, 210 with a 46 inch chest and the xl fits perfect. This is the second order through Revzilla and I'm very impressed. I would recommend this jacket to others.

Great Jacket!
The afternoons here in California are nice and warm, but the early mornings get cold, especially in the winter months. I ride a scooter to work and needed a jacket that would keep me warm in the morning and provide good air flow in the afternoon. This jacket does exactly that in addition to providing armor protection and plenty of practical features.

As far as the fit goes, I am a tall guy (6' 3"), but I am not very big. I ordered size medium, but I was concerned the sleeves might be a bit too short. They were not. The fit is just perfect for me!

Great Value
I am enjoying this jacket, except one small annoyance. The inner zipper fly gets in the way when you want to use the main zipper only. The size chart is correct for me. So far, I have worn it in 50-75 degree weather. I think the ventilation will be adequate for up to 90 deg. as long as you keep moving; Bets are off sitting at a light though. It's not perfect, but the price is very appealing, overall I think it's a good value. I did have to return a helmet for sizing issue, Revzilla people are nice to deal with.

I thought it would be as good as the previous generation Rush Tex Jacket. However it wasn't so I returned it. Okay, sure, you get lower viz reflective piping, a drop tail and a back armor pocket that holds something more then a cut down AlpineStars small back insert, but you lose the zippered vents at the arm cuffs and the two-zipper front is a pain, plus shoulder armor pockets are now velcro'd down and both elbow and shoulder pockets seem smaller; so I couldn't use the upgraded armor.
james m on Oct 21, 2014
Love the simplistic skyline of this coat. Decent ventilation and drop tail is awesome. Sweet coat have worn it many times now I love it. Only complaint is zipper on the inside of the coat on your shoulder blades digs into your back and hurts, I will remove the zipper handle.

In the video Anthony mentions using the D30 back protector which one would be a good fit with this jacket?
A shopper on Apr 11, 2013
BEST ANSWER: yes, the video talks about d3o viper pro back, and also this is suitable with other first gear jackets like katmandu for instance.
I'm 5'9" 145 lbs with a 33" sleeve length. Would a small fit and allow me to fit a thin fleece under it when it hits the 50's, or should I go with a medium?
A shopper on Jun 26, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I am 5'7", 135lbs with 31" sleeve. I wear a small and have no trouble fitting a fleece under this jacket. In fact, the fit is a bit loose on me with just a t-shirt... I wear at least a sport poly/zip top under it (soaked in cold water during the summer, it's like having AC) for best fit.
The silver color on the body of this and other firstgear jackets appears almost white in pics and vids, yet some claim it is actually medium grey and I have seen pics elsewhere that appear very grey. Could somebody tell me what the silver color really looks like, I want a brighter jacket but am not ready for dayglo?
A shopper on May 24, 2014
BEST ANSWER: The color is definitely not white. I wouldn't call it light Grey either. It's more of a dull silver. Goes good with the black. It's not bright enough to be considered a day-glow. I wanted a jacket that would be more visible than my black jacket but it didn't seem to make a difference, the four wheelers still can't see me.
does this jacket have pant (belt) loops, or a zipper tho attach to pants?
A S on Mar 30, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Yes it has a zipper in the lower rear section that would attach to a set of firstgear pants!
Is this jacket waterproof/rainproof? Or will I still need a rain jacket?
A shopper on Aug 14, 2013
BEST ANSWER: I live in Melbourne, Australia, I've ridden in moderately cold/wet weather with this jacket and I was quite comfortable. I have a maxi scooter (Suzuki Burgman 650) with a windscreen, which may help a bit, however I'm 6ft tall and still reasonably exposed to wind when sitting upright.

I've been in temperatures down to ~4 deg. C this past winter (June-September).

I hope this gives you some useful information for reference.
The guy in the video was apparently 46" chest and sizing chart gives that as XL but the video presenter said he was wearing a large - one size down. I am 42" chest and 34" waist and would normally go large but I guess I need a medium?
A shopper on Jun 11, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I got that jacket for my Dad who is your size (42 chest 34 waist) and the large fits a little snug on him to the point that when I got him a thicker back protector, he didn't like it.
Does this jacket come with a liner? Can you order liners for it?

- Mike
Michael C on Sep 30, 2014
BEST ANSWER: It has a built in liner that can not be removed... The only down side I have found in this jacket
Greetings Revzilla! I was wondering if ALL of the armor is removable in this new version of the Firstgear Rush Tex Jacket?
A shopper on Mar 5, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Yep, the shoulder and elbow armor is removable ---> I JUST checked!
