Firstgear Hi-Viz Rush Tex Jacket
Good Everyday Jacket
Sizing/Fit: I am 5'10" height, ~160lbs, 40" chest, 34" waist
I started out with ordering a size medium, it was way too loose in the chest and shoulder area, so I returned that and got a small - much better fit overall. I have removed the armor, but the small still fits about the same with it in.
Style: I really like the simplicity/cleanness of this jacket, not much for logos. I removed the arm first gear logo badges, it is awesome that they are just stitched on and not also glued. The drop on the back is awesome, long enough to keep covered but short enough that I am not sitting on it.
Durability: For the cost point it is seems to be very well constructed. Stitching is solid, zipper quality is good - have not broken nor had an issue yet with one, the fabric is heavy enough I don't foresee any issues with wear occurring anytime soon, and the fabric cleans up easily.
Comfort: More than comfortable enough to walk around in if you stop somewhere. While riding, it does have a tendency to lift up in the shoulders for me which sometimes is enough to lift the pit seam into the arm pit. This could be due to the style of bike I ride allowing air to flow easily/directly into the wrist area, and only happens at freeway speeds. Due to the waist being closer to a snug fit, I have to unzip the bottom a slight amount to avoid pinching.
Design changes that I would like to see: Either a double zipper on the current back vent or changing to two vertical vents instead of the one horizontal; making the waist just a little larger; and maybe making the inner zipper cover a little less floppy so it does not occasionally catch in the outer zipper.
Great overall jacket, well worth the price. Sizing seems to require getting a size smaller than what is suggested by the measurements.

First Jacket - Good Choice
This is my first riding jacket, so I have no experience to compare, but this is a nice jacket. Whatever "American Cut" is this jacket is it - the torso cut is more girth, less length.
I have been in a few real downpours in this jacket and I have had no issue at all. I commute in this jacket with a light sweater underneath and I have never been cold - I can certainly tell it is cold outside but I never feel it through this jacket.
What you get with this jacket is less features and other non-essential niceties but you do get a top rate jacket with all the attention to detail and quality of First Gears higher priced products (as it seemed to me when shopping at a local dealer).
I've only used this jacket in temps up to the low 60's so I can't really comment on the venting but I assume it is adequate. I have been very comfortable and dry in this jacket and I would recommend it without a doubt.

even though it has zippered vents they don't go through the windproof liner so they are completly useless. at 70 degress my arms were wet with sweat and they stayed that way. this jacket is hot and clammy. no better than the old pvc coated jackets. i returned it to Firstgear for the Jaunt 2 jacket. at least some of the vents go through the liner. the older Rush Tex jacket had a waterproof outer shell with waterproof vent zippers which was a much better jacket than the new Rush Tex. i really wanted a non waterproof jacket as i mostly ride when its nice out. who where's a rain coat when it nice out? Firstgear customer support is great.

Good stylish jacket
Jacket was exactly what I was expecting. I've only used it a few times becasue its too warm for the 90+ summer days. I also havnt had a chance to try it out in rain. The fit was good, I got a medium so I could fit a sweatshirt underneath it in the winter time. The protection is average. I dont to feel that the jacket would protect me from a fall but do feel that the jacket will save my skin from road rash. The shoulder and elbow protection move a good amount. Comfort is great though and I am a business commenter so the look is great.

Very nice but won't save your hide!
Sharp looking and comfy on and off the bike and the fit was perfect (Size L for my 5'-11", 200 lb frame). Got this as a light weight, Hi-Viz commuter jacket and it serves that purpose nicely. But, in comparison to my two piece Roadcrafter, the abrasion resistance is non-existent. Do buy if you want to be seen and don't care about real crash protection. Don't buy if you think you'll actually be protected.
After all that, it's a steal for the price.

WOW great jacket
I bought this in XL size, I'm 5'9 240lbs, XL fits me great, the jacket its full of features, cell phone pocket on the left, "hidden pocket on the left as well, big pocket on the right all internal, a couple of "hand warmer" pockets on the outside.
Two intake vents on the front near the shoulders and one big exhaust vent on the back,.
Reflective piping on the back and front, and the "gears" first gear logo on each sleeve is also reflective while not vulgar or annoying.
CE rated protectors on shoulders and elbows, foam protector on the back, but you can buy a DO3 back protector that fits.
for $150 this is a great value, I use this for commuting to work everyday haven't tested the waterproofing as its not currently raining but it seams like it will hold up fine.

excellent jacket for the money
Excellent quality for the money. I'm 5'10, 210 with a 46 inch chest and the xl fits perfect. This is the second order through Revzilla and I'm very impressed. I would recommend this jacket to others.
